Taking the plastic cover off, spraying contact cleaner into the wiper switch, and moving the switch around worked for me. No need to take the wheel off or mess with the fuses in my case

A good clear video that had me making the same repair, and showed where the fuse actually is, (nlike the Owner's Manual which doesn't clearly), thank you.

Excellent video, I too was able to fix the same problem. I would add - because I thought I'd done something wrong and took it all apart again - is that the front windscreen wipers don't seem to work when the bonnet is open so make sure its closed when testing your work! Also, if possible, avoid turning the ignition on with the airbag removed. This throws up an error that needs to be reset and I couldn't do it from my basic setup - obd2 dongle &phone app.

Thanks Igor. I had exactly the same problem and carried out your instruction to the letter. It worked and you have saved me a lot of money getting it fixed by a garage. The only thing I didnt do was regrease the contacts after I cleaned them. I suspect that it is the grease which makes the dirt congeal in the first place.

Excellent video, thanks. I read some comments below and decided to try just squirting some contact cleaner in so I didn't have to take it all apart - as I was short of time.
If you remove the trim panels above and below the steering column, and the little trim ring at the bace of the stalk, then look carefully just near the back of the casing at the base of the stalk, on the side, there is a little slot - if you look in you can see the copper of the contacts. I suspect this is there to allow the contacts to be washed without disassembly.
If you squirt contact cleaner in the slot using the little tube on the aerosol, and wiggle the stalk, that may well fix it - it did for me. Contact cleaner is readily available - WD 40 would maybe work, but contact cleaner is probably better.

Thank you so much. I had exactly the same problem and after purchasing an M12 socket today I fixed mine too and followed your helpful video step by step. Turned out easy and quite satisfying to see the problem was fixed at only the cost of £5. I wonder how much skoda would have charged? Thanks again.

    Thank you. Very helpful.
    Your video was clear.
But the the screw holding the cover on the wiper switch was T8 not T10.
Regardless, I did what what you did, following your vid step by step, and it fixed the ‘will not not turn off’ wipers.
Close inspection (magnification) showed the grease in the switch had become a grease & copper blend, electrically conductive, shorting out two pathways.
    TYVM.

Thanks Igor, great video mate, I was going to follow your steps, however I realize that in my case the wipers were set to automatic. I believe there is an issue with car`s sensors which are very sensitive. I turned the sensor off and the issue has stopped. I hope this help anyone who is facing the same issue. Abraços!

    Hey there!
Many thanks for this instructional video - I need to get around to doing this tomorrow as my wiper is doing the same thing (running whilst on the OFF mode)
Just need to get a breaker bar for the steering wheel nut, cleaner and grease but I would like to ask the following:
    1. To be clear, does the battery need to be connected in order to move the steering wheel to access the cover screws before disconnecting it to work on the airbag removal?
    2. With the clock spring, does it remove as a unit as I do not want to risk any exposed springs sliding around? I think this is one of the more sensitive parts that I am anxious about handling - I will attempt to remove it holding onto it and using the least amount of force
    3. To clarify when regreasing the contacts, is it just a layer on it all or a blob that will be spread using the stalk movement?
    4. When reinstalling the steering wheel, Is there a torque setting for this or just a little above hand tight where the markings you had made line up?
Many thanks for any help you can provide as I know I can do this - just want a few pointers before tackling it and hopefully, resolving the issue
Kindest regards and stay safe, Igor! :D

    Hi Car Exposed
I watched you brilliant video on fixing the wioet stalks on a Skoda fabia, i have a similar problem.
Thanx for a perfect video it was really helpfull and i changed the stalks on 40 min because of you video 🙏
How ever i did not fix my problem and maybe you Can give some hints on what to do next.
My problem startet with the sprinklers, both front and rear, stopped working.
After a short while, it moved on to the front wipers not working, and when using the wipers in the two top positions the car completely goes out for 1/2-1 second and then comes back with a lot og errors, after restarting the car, alll errors goes away.
    Status now is.
1 i checked and fixed for low voltage with a new battery
2 i checked the plug for trailer connection for shortcuit
3 i checked the wire running under the wipers arms for vear from the motor and arm
4 i have changed the wiper stalks guided by you perfect video a 1000 thanx
5 i found a burned fuse for the sprinkler.
What would you do next ?
    Any input 🙏
I hope you Can help with som great ideas you Sound VERY skillfull on your video.
Thank you very much for tour time 🙏

Do you have a scan tool able to do an active test, I would try to operate the wipers with the scan tool if it works you know you have an input problem if it doesn’t it will be an output problem maybe wiring , wiper motor or module itself 👍

My Skoda roomsteer has a weird quirk where, when you open the trunk, the windshied washer activates. Also lately there has been cases where the wiper gets stuck on. I think this is probably something similar. Gunk in the electronics. I'm terrified that the air bag will go off when I try to remove it.

Had this problem. So I decided too flood the wiper stalk with liberal amount of WD 40, then moving the stalk to all positions! Then flooded it again and left over night? Applied more the next day repeated this again also moving the steering column up and down. “Yes it done the trick.”
If you don’t have the tools for this job try the above, it could save you a lot of time?

I just tried this using some silicone oil and left it for a few mins - for now, it seems to have worked but will keep an eye on it!
Saves me having to take it all apart - the airbag was what I was most nervous about even with the instructions of this video - for now at least itll hold up and will explore it at another time

You can't take apart the whole wheel set to clean the stalks, that was unnecessary and requires a torque wrench
