I think it depends what the manufacturer thinks on body roll and chassis stiffness. The Camaro probably didn’t need it form the looks of the strut towers but I like it anyways. A rear roll cage one day will stiffen that up even more!

Solid video buddy - such valuable info! Question on the noise shield removal with little scoops - do you think they are going to increase downforce in any way, aside from cooling - just wondering since they will take air and direct them up to the side! Second one is on the rain scoop in the hood - is it just heat dissipation or again downforce as well - like the GT500s have a rain tray which once removed, als ceates downforce reducing a bit of the front lift.
i dont think they will increase downforce, only drag but GM must know the electric steering pump must over heat and it needs cooler air blowing at it to cool it down. hood vents i thought were only for cooling by getting the air out of there, im not sure about downforce. maybe since the air shoots up but i dont think so. the biggest aero on the car will come from the front splitter, the underside being relatively flat and the rear wing. the diveplanes help a little but its more for side aero and breaking up the air from the front wheels down the side of the car as its very turbulent. a rear diffuser would help a lot!

I have been trying to find a 6 speed car ANYWHERE in the country and not having much luck. I hate that GM or the dealers post cars for sale and they are not available. @@tonybosworth5382 yeah I would see 2-3 at most actually on a lot but they’d be spoken for or being sold for $10k over! I just got lucky finding it, it wasn’t spoken for, they offered it at msrp and showed up a week later. Dealer ordered it Dec 7th so not far off from you but it had no extras besides the upgraded head unit. If you added a lot then most items are on constraints and take longer.

Nice! Glad you like. Yes I would 100% lower it with the factory settings. The lower you can get any car the better the performance is going to be as long as it’s within factory alignment settings and the ability for the factory shocks and struts to be able to handle the lower riding height which all of the OEM stuff is made for! I wish it was more in the front and some in the rear but I’ll take it. It’s fast enough on track!!

In regards to alignment, do we just need to check/realign around road alignment? I only found parameters for track alignment in the manual. @@HotRodsDFW I leave mine on track alignment. The cambers not what kills tires, it’s the toe. If you’re new at tracking set the toe to zero. This will be fine for street driving and save the tires. Camber go as much as you can! The oem numbers are good for tracking and will be fine for the street. It’d be nice to have more for the track but I don’t think we can put drive this car for sometime!
@@neckofthewoods24 got it - super valuable advise boss - will go full -2.7 on camber then for front and - 2.0 on rear and will follow your tip on the toe. Drove it back home - was interesting 400 miles and loved the downforce and handling over my regular ZL1 -- but I did realize that the super stiff suspensionon 1LE does unsettle it quite a lot on uneven roads, infact to a point the I felt I was way slower than my regular ZL1 due to car bouncing like a Buffalo on steroids each time I bit bad patches on the highway, even those dips in the highway! But once good roads and corners came, I was grinning!
Quick question: say you did a track day with 15w-50 oil in it how long can you daily your car with that oil before you change it back to 0w-40? Or what if you are having back to back weeks of track days can you leave the 15w-50 oil in and daily the car in between will that hurt the car?

Would be nice to have a 4 post lift that you could raise your car out of the way as storage and as a lift. Some of those come with a plate that you can jack up the front or back when needed to work on tires and brakes.
100%!! thats why id rather get a 4 post vs a 2 and also not have to drill the floor with radiant tubes inside. even if i had no tubes, i wouldnt store a car off the ground with the suspension hanging. yes ive seen those plates. the issue is some of the jacks that you can buy for them dont work and they are pricy!! the jacks can cost more than the 7,000lbs quick jack and it'll have to stay at home vs being able to take my lift to the track with me. the issue with them not working is you have to rotate the jack up from a stored laying down position. with lowered cars you cant rotate the jack up or even if rotated up, it sits to high and hits the bottom of the car. but we'll see what i end up with!
Great Video! Two questions I had: 1) Chevy says that after the track day you need to change the oil back to 0W40. I only track the car or drive at most 150 miles to and back from the track. In that case can I leave the 15W50 in there?
Thanks. I’d think 4hrs of run time either way for track use or daily driving would be the max I’d want to leave it in there. Granted I’m sure a top oil like Redline would be just as safe as their 0w40 long as it’s not freezing cold outside. But to each their own.

@@1007nexus depends how many Gs you pull. That’s why we need the 15w50. With your increased aero and and tires you can pull the oil away from the pickup tube so if you go slow you’ll be fine. If you’re pulling more than 1 G I’d be a little worried.

I've run Mobil 1 15W50 in my '20 ZL11LE exclusively. 4,600 miles, 3,500 of those on track, and all is fine. I live in Arizona, though, so no worry of really cold temps.
Thanks for the video. My process was backwards. I installed a Direct-Lift 8P BEFORE buying a car I could not crawl under(LOL). My 2022 ZL1 1LE is due later this month. What car cover did you find that fits the 1LE rear spoiler?

I can't understand why you complain about living in a trailer when you have so much money in your sports car. You could sell your car and drive your truck to work. This is my first comment on your great channel.
I have $300 in the Zl1 now plus oils I guess you could add up and the AMG I had -$200 because I sold the cats after I removed them when we went to DC to sell them. The downpipes I bought were cheaper than the cats selling price. I sold the AMG and put all the equity in my pocket for the house build. I mentioned that a few times. So as of right now I have like $100 into 2 cars. it will go up but I have a job for little hobby parts and the RUclips revenue.
Did the BMR Strut tower brace add any benefit? I am curious about the overall net benefit as it does add more mass up front. I can also see it being an extra step to turn the DSSV dampers back and forth for track alignments as it will require the stock bolts.
i didnt notice anything because it was installed first before any real driving and my first track day. the OEM setup does have lateral braces from the towers back to the firewall so its probably already stiff. it really wouldnt be to much of an extra step because itd have to come off already but i dont recommend changing back and forth! 1. the negative chamber isnt bad and wont hurt your tires and 2. alignments from a good shop can be over $200. thats $400 going back and forth. plus the hassle of going to and from or the time spent in a garage.
@@neckofthewoods24 Can you share your alignment specs on the channel? I know that 0.05 Toe In Fronts can cause the steering to be a little sluggish with the car less willing to turn. I did 0 Toe Front and 0.05 Toe In Rear for better response.

Great video! I will share this with the ZL1/1LE community as well. Having seen the entire video, here are my thoughts - Do your first track day with the stock brake pads to get a baseline. The engineering team honed it at the Nurburgring and other tracks to have tremendous bite with minimal fade that is also rotor friendly. In addition, swap out the front brake air diverters for the SS Track diverter as it has a larger surface area and hangs low. GM Part number 84433357. Use for track only. The stock seats are lacking in proper bolstering (at least for me) on track. My suggestion is to get the Schroth Quick Fit harness (E90 fitment) that will allow you to be pinned down in High G corners. This way you don't have to spend money on a roll cage as the rear seats can be useful to carry gear to/from track. Heck I carry (3) tires vertically in the rear seats (with the back rest off) and (1) front tire in the trunk with room to spare for a tool box and a 1.5 ton jack. No trailer needed :-) Video suggestions - Changing the Brake Fluid on all 4 sides Install of Quick Fit Harness (should you decide to)

so i checked out the harness, its definitely around 45º which FIA says is a no no. other organizations say you can do 0-20º which is the best but up to 45º could be done. as for the GM part number, the zl1 1le does have a version of it, just way thinner. but whats there does direct the ducts air to the rotor. not sure which one will work best. like the brake pads, maybe just fine out first on my first track day.
@@neckofthewoods24 You can also push the seat all the way back, pull out the stock belt all the way out and then go back to your original seating position (still keeping the belt all the way out). Once back in position - release the belt and then it synches you tightly in place. Another alternative that I tried today and man...it holds you in place!
@@AllIsWell_22 This is what I do, and it works great. Also, I leave the SS 1LE brake deflectors in all the time. They do hang down low, but because they're attached to the control arms, they move up and down with the suspension, thereby lessening the chance of hitting anything.

I’m 99% they say every 4hrs. The tranny has a time on it to, I want to say 20hrs but I’d have to check both to be 100% sure.

In addition, swap out the front brake air diverters for the SS Track diverter as it has a larger surface area and hangs low. GM Part number 84433357. Use for track only.
The stock seats are lacking in proper bolstering (at least for me) on track. My suggestion is to get the Schroth Quick Fit harness (E90 fitment) that will allow you to be pinned down in High G corners.
This way you don't have to spend money on a roll cage as the rear seats can be useful to carry gear to/from track. Heck I carry (3) tires vertically in the rear seats (with the back rest off) and (1) front tire in the trunk with room to spare for a tool box and a 1.5 ton jack. No trailer needed :-)

interesting!! but is the angle proper to not snap your back? i thought rules said like 0-15º for the back belts. these look like 45º down to the lap belt rear locations. will it work with my Hans??
so i checked out the harness, its definitely around 45º which FIA says is a no no. other organizations say you can do 0-20º which is the best but up to 45º could be done.
as for the GM part number, the zl1 1le does have a version of it, just way thinner. but whats there does direct the ducts air to the rotor. not sure which one will work best. like the brake pads, maybe just fine out first on my first track day.
@@neckofthewoods24 You can also push the seat all the way back, pull out the stock belt all the way out and then go back to your original seating position (still keeping the belt all the way out). Once back in position - release the belt and then it synches you tightly in place. Another alternative that I tried today and man...it holds you in place!

@@AllIsWell_22 This is what I do, and it works great. Also, I leave the SS 1LE brake deflectors in all the time. They do hang down low, but because they're attached to the control arms, they move up and down with the suspension, thereby lessening the chance of hitting anything.
