All though what you could have done, is pulled the 6 pin connector off the pins on the KS0 and flipped it upside down, then regular 6 pin cables could be used as the positive and negative would now be on the correct sides of the connector. I think Molex makes a reverse connector as well.
that's what I did to mine. also the pcb layout allows for two 12v and 3 gnd. but he wasn't modding it, technically. just a repair that looked a lot like a mod lol
once you mount the 6pin female piece, while it's still warm you can pull straight out and remove the plastic with the pins staying in place, flip it, then slide it back in position so it has the correct pinout. that's what I did with mine so it can share a psu with one of my antminers. also, you can give it 2x 12v pins and 3x gnd pins. with the 3rd pin towards the outside edge (12v side) would connect to ground so dont populate it.
The barrel connector can hold up to overclocks if you are running the correct voltage of 19V because the amperage would be lower. Running at 12V increases the amperage above the what the barrel connector can handle. Also if you do the math, by lowering the voltage from 19v to 12v the you are increasing the amperage by 4-5 amps.
nicely done Dave -- any luck getting a cable with a buck converter in it so keep voltage higher? Ive seen so many KS0s melting with over current on the VRM from the lower input voltage. wild how well that lined up!
@@TheVeteranMiner I figured that would be an issue, bummer. wonder if its possible to incorporate that sort of thing with larger dissipation blocks on a server breakout board instead of in the cable. a billet box made of al to clamp over the converter though on the cable.. it should in theory work! either way, I like the nitty gritty stuff. keep it comin.
Nice work brother! Was always thinking of doing this and great info on the polarity swapped on if mounting the 6 pin connector. What brand helping hand is that? Looks awesome!
first day 6 k0s pro already used 12v from atx psu power supply. I compared 12v and 19v different. 12v more stable and less heat inside temp1 and temp2.
I saw you pulled the other pins out, if they pins are removable, couldn't you leave the pins as is then flip the plastic portion of the 6pin upside down and avoid having to make a special cable?
Is the same issue likely to occur with the conservative 280 GH OC ? Also the issue is not just exclusive to the Barrel-to-6pin right? Could it happen just as easily with my current setup - 230 watt laptop PSU ? (which has been fine so far). I ask because I would really like to join all 4 of mine into a server PSU via your Barrel-to-6pin. But I run the 280 GH OC. Thank you for your service to this country and great content.
I totally agree, I think most have the mindset of making as much yield as possible short term, thinking that the miner won't be profitable enough long term anyway. So I went for the lower OC as a compromise. But even that may become an issue. @@TheVeteranMiner
If you watch the full video I was not done with that solder point. Appreciate the feedback but watch the video before you make a comment. Defiantly was a great solder job. 💪🤌🏻
The barrel connector is connected to a laptop power supply. Laptop power supplys are not meant to be on 24/7 . A 6pin connector is designed for power all the time.
The Veteran Miner is always making cables for our asics, gpus, board repairs. We would be lost without this guy in the community
I appreciate ya brother your awesome 💪
a lil much on the bro love...but Yes, THANK YOU Veteran miner. doing great things
🤣
Good stuff brotha love the new 2 pin! 🔥😎
#1 awesome. Love how patient and thorough you are!
thank you for the kind words appreciate it.
Wow that is legit so awesome!!!!!! You are a wizard mate
This is the opposite of legit. Rated wattage of 25 watts. Not 6 pin only 2 pin.
#1 This is a super useful channel for us home miners who wish to mod and repair out our rigs.

Why they went with a barrel plug in the first place is mind numbing.
TVM truly awesome brother #1 the very first 6pin KS0 Pro, you rock!
maybe on youtube. I modded all mine the day they arrived to share PSUs with antminers.
These should have came from the factory like this.. amazing!
#1 Finally a real electronics channel 🙏
#1 TVM loving these types of video and excellent lighting.
#1 Nice job Veteran Miner
Appreciate ya @jokerminer1
#1 I will have to keep this in mind if I ever have a power failure. I do like the quality of your cables.
Thank you I appreciate it
Thank you I appreciate it
SA - 6pin KS0 Pro...me like😁

Can't believe i wasn't subed. fixed now. your bench is so clean. I feel like I'm constantly cleaning mine.
Appreciate ya yea it’s a daily struggle keeping it clean for sure lol
#1 the first ks0 6 pin nice work
Great video! Very nice camera shots!

Thats the reason I buyed a laptop 180w /19v supply.
I use 145w at 285gh , 340, 360 is to much and in time will die in my opinion!

I can make the cable but the buck converter gets so hot. Would have to put a fan on it but would make a good video maybe

#1 Awesome video VeteranMiner!
#1 TVM, have a great day!
In the place where the memory comes into contact with the radiator, the paint must be cleaned.
FIRE!
#1 You are the best. Great work!!
#1 Great video. Nice work
Great mod dude 💵!!!
Thank you appreciate ya
#1 Great job sir
Thank you appreciate it
My ks0 pro just stop working today.i am getting ground on all pins on barrel plug I think it's internal shorted I will remove connecter and retest
Nice work brother! Was always thinking of doing this and great info on the polarity swapped on if mounting the 6 pin connector. What brand helping hand is that? Looks awesome!
Weller is the helping hands I am using appreciate your support
@@TheVeteranMiner awesome thank you brother! We're all here to support so keep it coming!
thats awesome. great work
#1 great stuf.
#1 Nice work
Thank you
Am i missing something there was thermal paste on bottom when you took it apart, but none when you put it back together huh?
It was repasted with MX6 thermal paste
#1 Well done sir!
Why wouldn't they have used this standard, from the factory? Maybe even split the load over multiple traces.
Ice River, Cutting corners FTW lol
#1 grate think
awesome
Great work!
U did it, now.make cable from.the 6 pin on the kaspro to server break Bord, ill buy 🎉
I do make the cables to the breakout board available at our store www.theveteranminer.com

#1 Great stuff
Not the first...i did this mod about 3 weeks ago lol but I'm using all 6 wires to keep the power evenly distributed and on a normal pcie!
If there is only one power and 5 grounds how did you install it and distribute it evenly on a normal pcie.
@TheVeteranMiner I spread the power over the fuses and the ground over the other pads. I uploaded a vid, check it out man!
Sick brother that’s awesome
@TheVeteranMiner thanks bro! Love the content by the way! If I didn't move to mostly octominers, would have gotten tons of your cables lol

Yes if you flip the plastic connector the polarity would be correct 💪🚀🚀🚀

The biggest issue is there is not enough data to support what will happen long term with OC on these units.
I totally agree, I think most have the mindset of making as much yield as possible short term, thinking that the miner won't be profitable enough long term anyway. So I went for the lower OC as a compromise. But even that may become an issue. @@TheVeteranMiner
that first solder blob will cause a dry joint soon that was terrible soldering.
If you watch the full video I was not done with that solder point. Appreciate the feedback but watch the video before you make a comment. Defiantly was a great solder job. 💪🤌🏻
@@TheVeteranMiner you didnt do it on that video
Have you looked into modding a server psu to output 19v ? Would be beneficial to these instead of browning them out 7 volts and raising the current 🤔
I would look into it appreciate ya
Dont you want to put like a fuse? If it blows it will blow the fuse?
The cable that was made will be apart of that unit forever. There would be no reason for a fuse.
thermal paste is suitable Thermal conductivity, W/(m⋅K): 5 or do you need more than 5 ?
I use 6 with the properties I feel IMO would be what I would like to use.
спасибо перезаказал 8) thnx@@TheVeteranMiner
Im new to all this, but whats the whole point of putting a 6 pin instead of the barrel??? More power???
The barrel connector is connected to a laptop power supply. Laptop power supplys are not meant to be on 24/7 . A 6pin connector is designed for power all the time.
Where did you get the 6 pin connectors (link)?
I make computer cables I order them in bulk through a distributer

Hi I wonder if you can fix my ks0 that restart every 30mins?
Might be that OC
