When NCSOFT shut down this gem of a game, i literally uninstalled every single NCSOFT game on my PC and deleted my NCSOFT accounts. NCSOFT is a deplorable, despicable company that deserves to go bankrupt. Sure, the game had some issues, but nothing that couldn't have been solved had Carbine Studio's parent company invested money into it, but sadly NCSOFT doesn't invest money into anything beyond the development process, which is why so many, MANY NCSOFT titles have been shut down over the years. The company is literally an MMORPG graveyard, where they kill games and hold on to the IPs, never to be sold and handed over to more competent people. I playtested this game and played it until it was shut down in 2018. While the game had some issues, it was an amazing game with (at the time) lots of innovative features and mechanics as far as MMORPGs goes.

I played this game only two times officially: The beta and the last month of operation. My PC sucked both times so I didn't play long for the same reasons as you. However from the very beginning I considered this game to be the "Ratchet and Clank" MMO as the art direction is too close to ignore. So when Rift Apart came out I associated this game in my head and felt kinda bad about the whole situation. I don't know if there's any hope for an official revival, but at the very least it would be nice to see more games in this style. I think it's always been underutilized or at least, few pull it off this well. Either way, a damn shame this game is doomed to fade into obscurity as other lesser MMOs continue to operate. Anyway, loved the video!
I played it at its peak. It was one of the worst gaming experiences ever. It is literally a perma spam simulator. The game relentlessly spams your screen with popup windows for non stop nearby mini events and pseudo side quests. It is the equivalent of trying to watch a chill youtube video and having 24 active viruses spam your screen with messages. Absolute psychopath developers.
I also played it at it's peak, and it was one of the best MMO's ever. I've played from Meridian 59 and Ultima Online on almost every MMO. Heck I remember when Everquest even branded the MMO term. It did a lot of things right that others didn't and haven't since done. Sure, there was a lot going on but it was incredibly well done. The Dungeons were amazing, even if you often had people quit a lot, but once you had good players it was a challenge but not unbeatable at all. Combat in any mmo since has felt very lackluster. Most animations were very enjoyable, even after seeing them for days (I wish I still had that kind of time :D). But it also did a lot of things wrong, that most other mmo's already had down. Chat was mediocre at launch. It got better within a few days, but still, it really didn't need to be that way at the start. Loot was done really badly in Dungeons. You had no guarantee for noteworthy loot. Just a chance. WoW already showed how easy it is to set up a rewarding system in that regard, but nooo, they had to do it differently just because. They also pretended to have the best end-game ever, but they didn't. The system they put in was still very good, but they overhyped it and didn't give you enough to do at max level at the start of the game. The most idiotic thing about the game was that they launched it in direct competition with Elder Scrolls Online. They should have just given people two months to become disillusioned with that game and they'd have had far greater success. I'd certainly regularly return to subscribing to it, if it were still around.
