I'm assuming the knife throws are used to keep the posture as it is without it regenerating since you can go awhile without hitting him.

Yes. I also use them to keep the boss locked onto me since the meteor always tracks the host, so I will have to go a few seconds with them having agro, and throwing knives can keep the boss locked onto me sooner (and also just to kill the boss quickly if it ever gets really low)

Yeah, honestly almost every attack has a consistent way to dodge, except for that "left swing, right swing, X slash" combo he does. You dodge the first slash, and you're going to get hit by the second one, it sucks. The only person I've seen able to dodge that combo consistently, backstepped the first swing, and then rolled through the second two, but I just don't have the reflexes for that.
