2005 Sonata has issues with doors locking on their own, like it's haunted. Thanks to your video, I was able to replace both DECO relays, and so far, so good. I appreciate your video very much.
Really enjoyed the video. Very helpful. I just bought a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. The fob will open the trunk on both key fobs. The lock button on fob and car wont work. Replaced batteries in fobs. I can lock car manually, but when I unlock, the alarm goes off and immobiliser activates so cant start the car. The unlock button on fob works after you mash on it for awhile and that is what makes the alarm stop and I can start the car. Do you think this is a fuse issue as well? Im concerned as I just bought the car 3 days ago and dont have allot of extra money for it to go to the shop. Thanks for any assistance!
hey dude with your big fat hands :-) thanks a lot, I have the same problem with my Sonata, only click, but no door lock, so I'm going to do the same what you did. greetz from the Netherlands
OMG! This is the first video that I've seen to even remotely hint at a similar problem I'm having. Sometimes, when I use the fob to unlock the door, the locks will click open and immediately shut again, just like it did when you had the door open with the key in the ignition. The key will not work to unlock the door when this happens. (Actually, I had this happen once when I was sitting in the car and couldn't get out for probably 15 minutes!) The dealer said they couldn't diagnose the problem because it wasn't happening when I took it in -- well, duh!!! Do you think these relays could be causing my problem or can you suggest another cause? I've had one actuator replaced (left rear door) and wondered whether another might be going bad. Thanks so much for the information! I have a 2005 Sonata.
So I would say it's most likely your two relays. It's probably at least one of them for sure. If you have a salvage yard near you, you can just pull a couple out of the car to try them(save a little cash), or you could buy a couple of new ones. JUST NOTE - If you do use salvage ones, you 'could' get bad ones (it happened to me when I was fixing someone's car once). Both the two relays and the 4 actuators seem to fail around the 100,000 mile mark. But usually if ALL DOOR LOCKS are having an issue, it's your relays. And if only ONE DOOR LOCK, or a couple of doors are having an issue, it's probably the actuators inside each door. It's not always the case, but it's cheaper and easier to go this route first. I hope this helps, keep us updated on what you find!! Thanx
hey dude, you ROCK!! only video that could possibly fix my problem. do you know where i could buy the new relays and the prices ?? thank you so much!!!
You know honestly, if you have a junkyard by you, you can get them for hardly anything. Otherwise they are about 10.00 a piece at local auto stores if I remember correctly.
BryzGarage great!! another question.. on your other video showing how to program the key fob, can i buy only the key fob on ebay and just use that? or do i need to buy the key fob and other parts as well. ( sorry idk car terminology haha )
Diego Otero No...r they supposed to do that!?! Mine do not lock either when shifting into drive. I have only owned this car for two months, and I've just had my locks working properly for just one month. I've replaced my relays and actuators and they still don't lock shifting into gear. They do however lock automatically after I park for a sec and the alarm activates and engaged by itself.
will this fix a 05 sonata from doors locking on their own after shutting doors even with keys in and car running? i deliver pizzas and im always getting out of the car while car is running but have to be extra careful because my doors will lock once i shut the door and i would be locked out with keys inside. will this fix that or is there a way to disable that?
Thanks for the video man. I have the same car and the same problem. Im gonna try and fix this issue using your video after i get off work today. How much did the fuses cost you?
mrtwk63 They are $9.00 on Amazon (that where I got mine), EBay has them a little cheaper. Autozone and Oriely' s I'm not sure about. You could also pick one up at the salvage/junk yard if you have one in your immediate area. They are like $2.00 at mine. Good luck, let me know how it goes!!
Could this cause my car 2005 Hyundai Sonata V6 to be armed and not start? All my doors locked differently and I have a crank no start. One of my fuses left drivers side is illuminated red and won’t go off is that normal? It’s the last row on the right 4th fuse
my key fob won't (un)lock the doors anymore even though it is programmed to the system. the doors both (un)lock via key and via knob inside the car. do you think, this could be the solution as well? (hyundai tiburon/coupe 2005). and thanks for the video...
hello, I have a 2004 sonata, I can't identify the remote, I can't find the vehicle in the obd device, I can't identify it in manual mode. Could it be because the immobilizer is cancelled?
I have a 2002 Elantra GLS. The key will unlock all of the doors from the outside automatically, but I cannot lock all of them when I push on the driver's door lock button from the inside. When I try to lock the doors from the outside with the key, it only locks the driver's door. Does it sound like that relay is my problem?
this is chjoe96. thank you for all your help with the car. I changed the control on the left door and all the buttons worked. need help with one more item. when I open the rear left passenger door, the dome light don't come on. works with the other 3 doors.
+Brianna Scott Hey Brianna, that would most likely be your door jam switch for your dome light that's gone faulty, or just poor door to switch contact caused by something like seatbelts being slammed in the door. If 3 work, and one doesn't, it's probably the switch. The other option is faulty wiring that connects to the switch harness.Highly doubt it's wiring. If you press in the switch with your hand and hold it down for a few seconds, does the light shut off?
Hi Bryce, I have the same year Sonata and I enjoy your videos. Where did you buy those relays? I see them online for approx $10 each. I guess I have to buy two unless there is a way to test them?
Hello, Today I replaced both relays and still the same problem. Driver's side unlocks but doesn't lock(I have to hand lock it) Other locks work well. No grinding noise so I don't think it's the actuator. Seems I had that erratic locking.unlocking a while ago but no more. Any ideas?
2005 Elantra unlock button or fob did not work on 3 remaining passenger doors (driver door works fine) even I could hear the sound as it was trying to unlock. Check relay? Are the 2 relays the same number - relay HMC DECO 95225-38300? It is like $10 OEM each. However locking manually, by key, or fob seem to work ok. Thx
I have the same issue with a 2014 Hyundai Sonata GLS. The doors do not lock or unlock from inside or via the key fob, but the relay clicks near the fuse box. Do you think it is the same problem, and will your fix work?
@@bryzgarage5028 Thank you so much! Do you know if the relays are in the same location in my 2014 model? Also, are the parts the same number? I have been researching online, but I can't find much information on relays in a 2014 Hyundai Sonata GLS.

my 05 santa fe has this problem. rear door both lock and unlock fine both with drivers panel button and with key fob. however, the drivers front and passenger front don't . i hear the click and even see the actual door button "try" and close but it won't most of the time (sometimes, but rarely it will). Doesn't matter whether I use keyfob or door panel button. It just started doing this. would changing the relays help? again, rear door locks open/close fine. Passenger front works about 20% of the time. Drivers front works about 5% of the time.
Well, I'm thinking it's probably two of your actuators vs. Your relays. Usually relays affect all doors, actuators affect one or a few doors. I have a video on actuators, check that out to see if that looks like your problem.
I'm trying to disconnect the auto-lock feature on my 03'. I only have one key, and no key fobs. It has some sort of alarm key fobs, but that no longer works, they are not for unlocking the doors. Locked my key in the car today, with the engine running! The car automatically locks all doors after a short time, even when the key is in, it's parked and running. I am going to remove the relays, so this won't happen again! Not sure if this feature can be disabled on this 03' model car. What idiot thought of this idea?
Ahmed al mohamed husain I would think so, but I really don't know for sure since I've never worked on that particular model. They should be close enough though I would think.
Hey would you know why my key doesn't unlock all my doors anymore it used unlock them all when I unlocked the driver or passenger side door now it only unlocks the one door I don't have a fob and the switch inside still works on all doors.
That sounds like your 2 relays have gone bad. If it's one or two doors its usually the actuators. If it's all but the one your unlocking it's most likely both or one of your relays.
ON MY SONATA 2003 MY PASSENGER DOOR DOESNT LIKE TO OPEN. WHEN YOU OPEN IT...IT AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS BACK AND NEVER OPENS UNTIL IT FEELS LIKE IT. WHAT TRIGGERS IT TO KEEP LOCKING ON ITS OWN?
