what I do it use 2x4s to make the whole smaller so my paint stays together in a tighter pattern and it helps not loosening the swirl and showing your base coat at the end of the dip
Hey ! very nice job men ! wonderfull !! I do the same with "magic marble paint" too, but i have two f****ing problems : one - at the top of the guitar body, the paint color are more light, and two : I have some "bubbles" on the body after remove the guitar from the water who makes some little mark ( or hole !! ).... How can i correct all of this problems ????? Thank you very much, i hope you can help me, and sorry if my english is to bad , am just a poor little french ;) bye, keep on rock'in
how do you prepare the water? i ve used carragenan to make the paint float but it doesnt work as you show, please show or describe the proces to prepare the water! thanks in advance
What paint do you use? Would it work with any? Apart from a coat of primer, would you have to put anything on the guitar so that the water doesn't damage it? Someone help!
That's awesome mate. Looks great. All that testing paid off, I guess;-) Can't wait to see this one all built up and cleared. You will be showing it's completion I hope!
@@FIXXX8ED I have since seen people do this, however you can't rotate in place or it separates the paint. However rolling and moving the object towards the paint works rather well. It Is a slow steady movement
Ok , I did mine and after It's dry you sand it to smooth it out and what do you use to clear coat. I guess I need a little more information of what to do after it dries and cures to get a SMOOTH super glossy finnish.
hello! that will paint you put on the guitar before immersing it in water?, you can see that has a neutral color, it is the same product colors or guitar separately. Greetings from Venezuela
Great effect. Have you got any photos of completed guitars? I couldn't see any on your website. Have you tried the same technique on guitar necks? Thanks.
Im not to crazy about how it turned out ... but if this is the 1 for your daughter I hope she likes it!! :) But I agree it looks balanced how it laid out on the surface.
Thanks for posting! I just did a ukulele and finally (after 3 tries) got a cool looking swirl. I looked over the Magic Marble site, and googled the subject, and am not able to find info on what kind of clear coat do cover it with. Do you have any suggestions? All the spray cans I tried on test pieces make the paint run like crazy! Thanks again for posting!
ill start off with saying i love ur videos they are all very helpfull!!!!... my question is what type of clear did u use on the magic marble paints just regular polyurethane...nitro...or what i have 2 of my guitars that you inspired me to swirl but im just not sure on the clearcoat
go to auto store get a buffing pad and a cutting pad for a drill along with several steps of cutter and a polish and go from most cut to least cut then polish finish with clear coat and do the same.
It depends how old they are. If they're new(ish) strings you can put them back on. Most people would be inclined to put a fresh set on, for the whole shiny and new factor. But new strings need stretching anyway, so no sense throwing out a set of strings you just put on.
Go ahead and slap on a used set even if they are still new and take a chance of them breaking off at the tuning pegs... Once a set of strings are removed even if they are new ALWAYS replace just to avoid the hassle of breakage... It's not worth screwing around with restring a set that have been already on the guitar. BUY a new set.... ALWAYS....
hey man, i dig the videos, super helpful. I've been doing a bunch of trials with magic marble on basic maple wood with a white primer, and the paint seems to be drying on the surface before i dip it, and when it does the paint sticks on like a sticker, but doesn't cover the whole item. Do i just need to use more paint and do the thing quicker?
you might need to use more paint, but if the paint is drying too fast "skinning over" you might have a problem with the paints. The black I had was no good.
yeah my whole design is black and white magic marble paints so that could be it. Any success with mixing magic marble colored paints and black paints of a different brand in the same swirl?

Hey! I want to do a swirl in my guitar, but I don't know what kind of primer to use. The body is basswood and it is completely bare wood. What do I have to do before dipping it in the water?
I have just removed all the paint and sanded my guitar can anyone please help with what wood primer and base coat I should use for these to actually work? And can you lacquer over the top? I need halp pllease:(((
+Martha Vale I always used zinser primer, and white primer will do. you can lacquer over the top but be careful on how you do it as I have see swirls go bad from the wrong lacquer being used. you want to lay down a mist coat and then let that dry so it doesn't run
busstah The cheapest way to go would be to use a can of spray paint. Lacquer will give you the hardest finish but it will take several thin coats with some very fine sanding between each coat or just use some poly.
thanks mate, i will give it a go, thanks for you reply, i was getting bad reactions with auto clears, been trying the polyurethane with varying success , seems you have to let it cure for a week and build up the coats, haven't done a guitar yet, just test pieces, thank you ,,
Ive always kind of liked the hippie appeal of the swirl finish, and wondered how it was done. Nice job and TY for posting.
WOW, Very nice Big D! Looks great! Thanks for the vid.
Think it turned out really beautifully swirled! :) Nice work!
That is totally bad azzz... The best swirl job I have seen yet...
Very cool swirling dip
Awesome! That's perfect!
Love the swirl painting on. Guitars n much more
When you are to get back to me I think we might have with the other wants
How do you NOT have more subscribers? It blows my mind. This is awesome.
I love it , Great job
what I do it use 2x4s to make the whole smaller so my paint stays together in a tighter pattern and it helps not loosening the swirl and showing your base coat at the end of the dip
Please show the final result. I'm really curious to see the Are you experienced one

I have a whole series of vids on swirling: ruclips.net/p/PLvHM0_cyyFLzBB9gg4U1RvjaXd890_TYy

ever try rotating the item in circles? using two hands in like a corkscrew motion? curious on how that would turn out if its possible
I can only assume if not done super slow mo, it would push paint away from desired surface. ??

this is so awesome man!
Do you superglue the dipping stick on to where the neck of the guitar should be? If so, how do you remove the stick afterwards?
LJ Fennell no you screw it in where the neck would be
hello!

So no Borax needed to prep the water for paint floating, what about the "78 deg" water temp that most use?
Great effect. Have you got any photos of completed guitars? I couldn't see any on your website. Have you tried the same technique on guitar necks? Thanks.
Im not to crazy about how it turned out ... but if this is the 1 for your daughter I hope she likes it!! :) But I agree it looks balanced how it laid out on the surface.
Fucking good work! Do you made some pre-preparation in the guitar body?
Thanks for posting!

how to make the paint not mix?
Hoi.
Was this with Borax and did you wash the body in running water and last..
Did you put on clear coat?
Hey pal, I've 1 piece body guitar. Is there a way i can protect the fret with something maybe tape to avoid beign painted?
I have one too..i was thinking of using an artist brush and applying lin seed oil to neck parts.

can you put the same strings back on after taking it apart? or do you have to throw them away?
Always replace the strings...

Witch type of clear coat is top coat after this (I think acrylic swirl paint)?!?
do you need the thing that makes the paint float?
does it have to be cold or hot water?
what do you use to safely clear coat it? what formulation, brand?
Awesome guitar. Where can I buy these paints? And what are they called? And what's the brand name?

thats where
what's the color you used???
Hey! I want to do a swirl in my guitar, but I don't know what kind of primer to use. The body is basswood and it is completely bare wood. What do I have to do before dipping it in the water?
use any basic primer. I like zinser white primer, you can use any flat color, it should stick no problems.
What kind of base do you use before swirling the guitar?
Can you do that to a Rickenbacker bass and guitar?
Diego Medina As long as its a bolt on neck. I guess you can to a set neck if you know how to re-set and glue it but I wouldnt risk that.
very feckin cool
can you do this to a guitar that is already painted or do you have to sand down and primer or cane you lightly sand the paint with 600 or 1200
+gene loy (JESUSFACTOR) you have to sand down to get the paint to adhere to something.
ok thank you
have you mixed something into the water, or you just put the paint on it?
Just water. Thats why Magic Marble is nice
***** ahhh! So no borax this time? I'm glad i read this fellas comment haha. I assumed the borax was why it was floating freely.
yes you need it warm, so 70+ degrees.
where do you get this magic marble pant?
peachtree global
Hobby Lobby sells it
what's type of colour you use? thanks
Eric Bettazzoli fucking brit
I have just removed all the paint and sanded my guitar can anyone please help with what wood primer and base coat I should use for these to actually work? And can you lacquer over the top? I need halp pllease:(((

okay thank you! c:
Did you use borax with these paints? thanks ;)
ps: il like that guitar !!
can you use normal paint?
+Shroom Is Real no you need enamel paints. Use the ones I demo'd
Would you recommend maybe finishing it off with a clear coat...
yes if the paint is thin then you should put something over it. I have used 1 shot paint and you don't need to put anything over it.
Cool.... Thanks...
what kind of clear could you use ?

Just cut to the swirling!!😂
This just looks cheap and tacky. Very japanese toy article like.
None the less thanks for making a video.
Color scheme sucks!
