Some really beautiful work there mate. I noticed for some of them you had the un swirled body painted in one of the swirl colours, ( blue gold etc) does that help for the finished effect?
what i would love to see is a swirl with colors other than black and a neon. maybe a mother of pearl inspired piece with metallic pastel pink purple and green. that would be so pretty. or a party pink blue and yellow
Who is playing in the background? Beautiful work man! I remember in the 70s my mom bought a swirl kit, and swirled pretty much everything. Hadn't seen this technique since. Great to see it evolve into these amazing pieces. Cheers! 😉
Nice video. How do I avoid the water drops on surface after pulling the body out of the water? Can you throw them away by spinning the body? Or will this result in smear paint? I have made a first swirl test (in fact there were round about 6-8 runs before the first good result). I tested different water temperatures, different amounts of additives, etc. So I swirled the head plate of my guitar several times, until I got a good result. But there were these little water drops on the paint surface. They result in small ugly bubbles in the painting after drying. I think they wouldn't matter, if they were plain in one color. After clear coating an polish the places should be even for sure. But in some of these bubbles the different colors mixed up someway and bulided something like small color rings. And this doesn't look very good. Have you any hints for me? Oh BTW: Here in Germany Borax is no longer allowed for private individuals. So I used "Proten-Salz'. It is declared as "Borax Ersatz" (Borax Replacement) and in comparsion with other swirl videos and tests without any Borax (or something like it) I would say, it wokrs as nice as Borax. But it is certainly a different compound. I just wanted to mention it, but I don't think that this is the reason for the water drop-bubble-problem.
Hi, nice finish. How do you get the paint to spread so nicely? Do you have to use thinners? I prepared a bucket with 1,5 tablespoons per gallon of borax in the water but the paints acted quite weirdly. Some of the paint did not spread out at all (revell email paints) like there was still too much surface tension and some of the paint actually sank to the bottom of the bucket like there was not enough surface tension to hold it up. I did not use any thinners though..
Great, swirls Dean...and after you pulled it out, did you hang it up to dry,??? My first 2 trys I had beautiful patterns then I hung them up and all the fucking paint ran down the guitar!!! WTF???
The container needs to be large enough to fully submerge the guitar. A lined trash can would work. I would go with warm water if possible. Magic marble paints. You can do this with two colors, but I would recommend three. When dipping, keep the guitar moving and do it slowly. Once the guitar is fully submerged, clear the water surface of the paint so there's no paint around the guitar when you pull it up. And you can pull the guitar out quickly. You can also do this process with spray paint. With spray paint, you alternate colors but it's basically spraying the same spot and then swirling the paints after (with a pencil or something.) That's just my two cents - and it's probably worth about that much! :)
Can I get in touch with you? I'd like to have a custom build body swirled and finished and I'd like to know how much will it cost me. Thanks in advance.
porfa una pregunta al creador del video la pintura debe ponerce al agua sin anadir tiner o porfa me puedo indicar el proceso paso a paso esq quiero pintas unos cascos de moto y me parecio muy bueno diseños
