I really hope this catches on, because this format sounds exceptionally fun and underexplored. Thank you for revealing this format to the larger yugioh comunity.
This format brings me back to my old high school days when I was playing Blackwings with my friends and watching your old videos. Thanks for the trip down memory lane
This legacy format actually sounds insane! Sounds like the absolute perfect "modern" legacy format to give a shot, and it just so happens to take place around a pretty monumental time of my life. The last day of the format, right before the Duelist Alliance ending ban list, was my 18th birthday, November 8th 2015. That was right in the middle of my senior year of high school, which was by far the best school year of my life. I was actually super into yugioh at the time, but wasn't super into the meta. That being said, I always loved the clowns, always wanted to try out prize card lightsworns in a format prior to the reprint, and have recently gained a newfound interest in Kozmos, but wasn't sure if they were worth building in the current format as they seem to be MIA even among casual players these days. I realllly hope this actually picks up! Only thing I'm not happy about is Maxx "C", but if it means having brilliant fusion and instant fusion at 3, it's worth it enough!
based format, i started competitive a bit before this and met a whole community too, would love to relive those times and run it back vs near full power nekroz (2nd edit) sadly I do play Bujins, but Yang Zings and Majespecter were built around this time, I could not top with them even with 2-3 Raccoons and Unicorn, both fun decks, Dank Destroyer truly was tough
"Utterly destroyed BA" Actually, false. BA was actually the best deck at the time, even though players didn't realize when it was the current format. It's actually stronger than it was pre-list, since it no longer had to deal with Shaddoll, which was an abysmal matchup for BA.
Awesome vid. I entered the game in this era. It's not because of nostalgia that I think is the best (from 2015-present) this video shows that there are serious arguments for it
This was the format me and my high school friends got into competitive yugioh and started going to YCS’s, it was so sad when ALL of our decks got hit(again!! Lololol. We played Qli/nekroz/shaddoll). I missed this format. Please do more videos for this ❤. Edit: MAXX C!!!!!!! 😤😆
Just saw the video. It's such great news, but I am a nekroz player, and unfortunately, the prep of rites is at 1 durning the July 2015 list. So I wish I could play 3, but it's at one. It's still a great format. Last time, I had fun in the game.
I'm glad that I am not the only one that see this 4 days format. It is fantastic. In this format there are also Kaijus tha kill annoying cards like Towers and Dark Destroyer; also Graydle-Kaiju combination is very interesting. I like this format because new decks (Kozmo and Majespectre) were not full power, and old decks (specially Necroz and Qliphorth) have some limitations
I wish more people played like July 2015 ban list before clowns, chicken game and wavering came out but post djinn lock ban list. What a great time to have played the game! If you know you know
We made a Discord Server around this Format, the Link is in the Description of my RUclips Channel But instead of Finish Line Format does we call this Format Majester Format
What format would you say games for each Yu-Gi-Oh series to be based on? For Duel Monsters, GOAT is an obvious choice. 5D's could be Edison. The 5th could be Duelist Aliance or Finish line.
Something I noticed in the video that brings up a red flag is the inclusion of Jizukiru in one of the deck lists, a card that wasn't released until the set Breakers of Shadow came out in *2016*, alongside Gadarla and Kaiju Slumber. The only Kaiju cards that were printed during Finish Line Format were Dogoran, Gameciel, Kumongous, Radian and Kyoutou Waterfront.
So, does this list include Beelzeus, Stardust Chronicle Spark, Stardust Spark, and Black Rose Moonlight, even though they were released in Japan early 2015 and in NA late 2016?
I really like this idea and hope it goes off, but i see problems: You can have a 25 card deck (3 upstart, 3 into the void, 3 chicken game, 3 terraforming, 3 maxx c which can draw you 1 card) (22 if you have pseudo space) which immediately brings red flags for me I would have those cards (2 pseudo), and just add a small kozmo lineup to go for the OTK and have set vanity's/solemn If you can make space, consider adding a brilliant fusion package and honest cause fck it Another issue is floodgates. Vanity/anti-spell specifically. But yeah, i wanna g8v3 this a try
I definitely feel like the fact that Maxx "C" is legal without cards like Ash and Called By as well as Vanity's being legal (even at 1) is really going to be the biggest downside from this format. I've never been much of a retro format guy, but the available decks here sounded so great to me until that was mentioned.
What is the Discord for Finish Line format? My buddy talked me into jumping on the bandwagon. I want to learn more and be around others that wish to play this. Thx
Hey duelingbook guys remember me?! It's me the guy that predicted brillant fusion will be banned eventually and y'all ridiculed me saying "but noone plays it".🙄 Who is laughing now? 😈
So uh. Doesn't... Doesn't Magical Explosion FTK make this format unplayable? You know, the reason Chicken Game is banned, and Upstart Goblin+Into the Void each got limited?
hm, the monarch cards are stil missing, and they really helped that deck with pantheism. Also you can theoretically side 3 droll & lockbird, 3 damage juggler and 3 hanewata to obliterate that deck. So i think if that deck begins to dominate the format, clown decks with droll in the main deck will get more popular and should have a good matchup.
@@peredurxiv9174 I imagine that it wouldn't be hard to just put in cards like Swift Scarecrow and the like to stall out Droll turns. Iirc, negate boards weren't exactly common during this period, and Big Hand was the best monster negate we had at the time. That being said, that's fair, but usually having to side droll usually means a lot less fun for other decks who want to search a lot themselves.
Im all here to play this format. I literally own almost each deck mentioned on the video list. However im not the smartest and cant seem to finsh a website for a banlist. Anyone got a hand on how i can find that?
Not quite Kozmo was tier 1 mostly because the old decks were hit hard and Dark Destroyer was so good that the deck immediately stop being competitive when it went to 1 As for pendulums, while the old rules would make it busted, the cards that make it so dont exist (pepe came out later, from my understanding)
I'm sorry, but I have zero interest in the Pendulum era in it's entirety. Before Master Rule 4's revision at the end of the Vrains era, I was brainstorming a custom Format idea that I was gonna call PALWAM (Pendulums And Links Were A Mistake) because I hated those eras that much. But the game kinda chilled the fuck out a bit, and not having friends who play or would care also put the kibosh on that.
Im one that enjoyed pendulums, but I admit that they were super overpowered for their time As for links, the current rules is what it should 've been from the beginning, not whatever they were doing at the beginning, especially when those links where trash
I was 16 when that list hit. I loved playing UA and noble knights with 3 rota and 3 upstart goblin. I was DEVASTATED
I really hope this catches on, because this format sounds exceptionally fun and underexplored. Thank you for revealing this format to the larger yugioh comunity.
This format brings me back to my old high school days when I was playing Blackwings with my friends and watching your old videos. Thanks for the trip down memory lane
Bro, this is the kind of nostalgia overload I needed today
This legacy format actually sounds insane! Sounds like the absolute perfect "modern" legacy format to give a shot, and it just so happens to take place around a pretty monumental time of my life. I’ve been waiting for this kind of format. If my locals played this I would definitely show up
This is the exact format I've been wanting to play. Please keep posting these
based format, i started competitive a bit before this and met a whole community too, would love to relive those times and run it back vs near full power nekroz
(2nd edit) sadly I do play Bujins, but Yang Zings and Majespecter were built around this time, I could not top with them even with 2-3 Raccoons and Unicorn, both fun decks, Dank Destroyer truly was tough
Said Maxx C. Then Fun. 😂😂
I do think there's some potential though.
"Utterly destroyed BA"
Actually, false. BA was actually the best deck at the time, even though players didn't realize when it was the current format. It's actually stronger than it was pre-list, since it no longer had to deal with Shaddoll, which was an abysmal matchup for BA.
I’ve tested the December 2015 format extensively. BA gets dunked on pretty hard by Kozmo, which is by far the best deck in the format.
Okay this sounds like a badass format
Awesome vid. I entered the game in this era. It's not because of nostalgia that I think is the best (from 2015-present) this video shows that there are serious arguments for it
I've been playing more older formats than I have, then moddern, so I'll be looking into this one. Especially since it's one with fluffals.
The format I love a lot is the 2016 NAWCQ format.
My favourite part of the era finally has a format
This has honestly made my day amazing video please make more
This was the format me and my high school friends got into competitive yugioh and started going to YCS’s, it was so sad when ALL of our decks got hit(again!! Lololol. We played Qli/nekroz/shaddoll). I missed this format. Please do more videos for this ❤.
Edit: MAXX C!!!!!!! 😤😆
Played Ritual Beast with Book of Eclipse in this format it was fun
Wow, this seems super fun, I really hope it gets attention and love
This is perfection. Bravo
Thanks dawg
Just saw the video. It's such great news, but I am a nekroz player, and unfortunately, the prep of rites is at 1 durning the July 2015 list. So I wish I could play 3, but it's at one. It's still a great format. Last time, I had fun in the game.
Bro this was one of the first competitive Yugioh formats I've ever played, it was such a blast
Haha oh I know what I'm building when this format takes of I used to play evilswarm in this era with my own twist lol
I didn’t think I would cry today but holy shit
I'm glad that I am not the only one that see this 4 days format. It is fantastic. This might be one of the Collins videos I’ve seen all year
We made a Discord Server around this Format, the Link is in the Description of my RUclips Channel
But instead of Finish Line Format does we call this Format Majester Format
Incredible!
must be heresy to be this early to yugioh church
When this format get popular. The price of maxx c going even higher prices.
Not gonna lie Finish Line sounds cool but i feel like you alao call the ear Turnover Format, Zenith Format, or Guard Change Format
What format would you say games for each Yu-Gi-Oh series to be based on?
For Duel Monsters, GOAT is an obvious choice.
5D's could be Edison.
The 5th could be Duelist Aliance or Finish line.
At that time I believe I had a performapal otk deck that only existed because pend for 5 was a thing.
That looks juicy.
Cool format. But I'm going to chill in Edison and Goat formats for a little while longer.
yo dark matter dragon weekend was fun lol
Lmao YES me and bro played for HOURS on duelingbook. Good times
Ah yes, everyone super exited and they banned the DRulers. Then Gandora-X FTK and the first dragon link decks came and they banned him too
Jeez, this format seems like it could honestly be more explosive than current just because of all the busted stuff available at 3.
If this game had a peek, this would be it
Something I noticed in the video that brings up a red flag is the inclusion of Jizukiru in one of the deck lists, a card that wasn't released until the set Breakers of Shadow came out in *2016*, alongside Gadarla and Kaiju Slumber. The only Kaiju cards that were printed during Finish Line Format were Dogoran, Gameciel, Kumongous, Radian and Kyoutou Waterfront.
We messed up on a little of the deck history. We were going off of memory too much.
So, does this list include Beelzeus, Stardust Chronicle Spark, Stardust Spark, and Black Rose Moonlight, even though they were released in Japan early 2015 and in NA late 2016?

I miss clownblade, any chance that you can make an edo banlist to make it easier to make decks from this format?
Hey duelingbook guys remember me?! It's me the guy that predicted brillant fusion will be banned eventually and y'all ridiculed me saying "but noone plays it".🙄
Who is laughing now? 😈
Wait, this is pretty much the same as the first Legacy of a Duelist game isn’t it?
Can you do a video on domain format? It's basically Yugioh commander
I don't know what Domain format is lol Domain Monarch format?
So uh. Doesn't... Doesn't Magical Explosion FTK make this format unplayable? You know, the reason Chicken Game is banned, and Upstart Goblin+Into the Void each got limited?
Good point, but I believe people would play other stuff and keep it interesting
hm, the monarch cards are stil missing, and they really helped that deck with pantheism.

I prefer April 2016, the road to worlds right before INOV completely threw everything on it's head
any discord server for that format?
I made a channel for it on my server and also just asked Jackson if he feels like making one. Go to the Finish Line channel on my server for updates.
Can we get some replays?
id just play chain beat
I was down until I saw maxx c
So basically play this format and you get destroyed by kozmo and old pendulum rules. Doesn't sound like much fun
Not quite
Kozmo was tier 1 mostly because the old decks were hit hard and Dark Destroyer was so good that the deck immediately stop being competitive when it went to 1
As for pendulums, while the old rules would make it busted, the cards that make it so dont exist (pepe came out later, from my understanding)
Oh God not another format
The last time yugioh was good.
Thats incorrect theres tons of flood gates in this format.
I'm sorry, but I have zero interest in the Pendulum era in it's entirety. @@edymiguel4247well pepe as we know it had not come out yet at the time so pendulum is not that powerful in this format
