Pikmin 3 Hack - Unused Enemies: Emperor Bulblax, Wollywog and "Buriko"

- In this video I spawned three enemies at once because as you can see, some of them aren't really functional. The emperor bulblax is pretty unfinished as well as the wollywog which can only jump twice. Even after killing the emperor it still keeps shaking itself. The "buriko" is pretty interesting and unlike in the video, it can be defeated. If you try to bring the corpse of either the wollywog or the buriko (as I said, the emperor keeps moving) the game just crashes.
I'll upload some more hacks and minor discoveries I've made.

bulblax went from final boss,to a regular boss,and went unused.....
bulblax, by the end of pikmin 2, was used as canon fodder in the Hole of Heroes and Dream Den
I like to think that Emperor Bulblax in Pikmin 1 was an adult, which is why he lived on land instead of underground, and had more developed fighting abilities, as well as being significantly stronger.
The ones in Pikmin 2 are juvenile Emperors, living underground until they have properly matured, and having to resort to using the roar as a means of calling for back-up, which the one in P1 never did (he had that big jump attack instead, which was far more impressive).

I half wish Bulblax was in the game. He is scary but he should be in every game. That looks like his Pikmin 2 model.

It Is But I Think It Has A Little More Polygons
There isn't any extra polygons, that's just the effects of shaders on the model.
agreed, Bulblax is always fun to fight, especially in Pikmin 1
The wollywog definitely got fully completed, with textures and an hd model.
Man im still pissed at how many classic enemies they removed in pikmin 3.
They couldnt be bothered to bring back the bulblax, beady long legs, breadbug or honeywisp? They would have looked amazing HD.
That's not why they didn't come back. They clearly wanted to have more new enemies, but the game isn't long enough to have a ton of new and a ton of old enemies.
I am most upset about the lack of Breadbugs. Very creative enemy.

The Honeywisp was replaced by Yellow Spectralids.
They made the Shaggy Long Legs/Baldy Long Legs boss which is similar to the Beady Long Legs.
They made the Whiptongue Bulborb to make up for the Emperor Bulblax, Albino Bulborbs or something, and the fatbutt Empress Bulblax.
Here, we see the Emperor Bulblax eating its favorite food, sand.

the buriko looks like an HD ujadani, and for those who dont know what that is, the ujadani was a rare creature that spawned in swarms near certain caves every 30 days and didnt appear on day 1 days (day 31 day 61 day 91 ect.) and dropped a whole lot of sprays and nectar when killed. It also didnt have a piklopedia entry
It actually does appear on day 1 but you can't see it without glitching the game

I meant like the first time you face him. He's OP in the first game when you compare it him to the second, but like you said, it's not bad if you know what you're doing.
Because the emperor Bulblax was "young" in Pikmin 2. That's why he was easier.

I thought that the emperor bulblax got a retexture or something but no that's just straight up his Pikmin 2 model.

Seeing Emperor Bulblax reminds me of how little I felt his absence when I played through the game.

These videos are teaching me that Pikmin 3 had way more than what's really there. What pisses me off the most is the fact that there's bulbmin models in the game.
Even though i prefer 2 because 3 is a bit short and easy, i really cant expect a much bigger game because they dont sell well.

+Joseph Lawson It very well could be. They are saying that White and Purple Pikmin go extinct between Pikmin 2 and 3. There's no real evidence to the contrary, given that Mission Mode is non-canon.
Man, it would have been great to see the bulblax in HD, cause that's his pikmin 2 model. Also, My theory on the little sheargrub like enemy is it's like a sheargrub but targets captains instead
Wow, buriko would've been every pikmin players' nightmare! I mean, it's fast, it keeps following you around, and they can even go into water! Although, it makes me wonder if it having the ability of going through water was intentional or because it wasn't coded to die when touching it. :o

I think that's just a King Bulblax. Too small and doesn't have the vines growing on its back.
Why is Buriko sometimes orange and sometimes purple?
The closest I got for a translation to "Buriko" was "Yellowtail", which is what I got for translating "Buri".
These unused objects might be cool aesthetic things to put in rom hacks

Why does the buriko not have health but the others do

My theories as to why they went unused:
Wollywog:
It obviously has all of its animations and the only real issue is that its AI is broken. Either removed due to time constraints or was removed because it was too similar to the Yellow Wollywog
Emperor Bulblax:
The only working animation it has is the swallowing animation. Due to the fact all pikmin types can carry bombs now, its main gimmick (and challenge) was gone.
Buriko:
All it does is circle the captain, grab Pikmin, and kill them. It was likely used as a test enemy, as all the correct animations are there and it has a seemingly complete AI.
Although he is small, buriko is the strongest of these hacked enemies
Can you replace the Wollywog's A.I. with that of a Yellow Wollywog's, since they are (almost) functionally the same? If there are animations the Yellow Wollywog has that the normal one doesn't, could you replace them with the Yellow's? If not maybe you could just use a filler animation like the Wollywog's shaking animation for the missing ones.

Wow these models are pretty good (except for bulblax wich I think is just a Pikmin 2 port) wich means they were probably planned for this game.
I think the reason why the Blublax is using his Pikmin 2 model is because unlike the the other he was cut extremely early in Development

they should have had the old scripts from Pikmin 1/2 but but Emperor Bulblax, Wollywog weren't scripted and buriko is unkillable but it still can eat pikmins.
