Nice and fun video! I'll keep this in mind if I ever grow any pomegranate trees! My grandparents used to live in a house that had 2 or 3 in the backyard along with a grapefruit tree. The harvest was so nice and they'd commonly give my family a bunch when the harvest came around! Also the bonds you share with your family is precious! Treasure that! 💖

Pomegranates are such a terrific tree to grow. Pest resistant, and such unique fruit! It's crazy to revisit this video and see how tiny my kiddos were! 😊

All mine split this year prior to turning red. Two things: 1) my sprinklers broke so I was hand watering - which was not the same schedule or dispersement as the sprinklers were snd 2) we had 10 straight days of over 100 degrees and several were 112-114 . I’m sure both contributed to the demise of my crop.
Last year was a super bumper crop and I took 8 or 9 of the heavy plastic grocery bags full of beautiful red pomegranates from just one tree/bush.
Just incase it’s something else I will spray with the copper as you suggested. Many thanks.

I just noticed today I had many split fruits. I water my tree twice a week and in the same way as previous years. I am unable to understand what has changed and caused this.

My pomegranates get brown scabs on the outside that are long and thin. The fruit tends to get to a certain size and then split on those scabs. Any idea what caused it and how to prevent? Water daily for 12 gallons per tree during 100+ days and same amount of water but 2-3 times a week off summer

Daily watering is WAY too frequent for pomegranate. Put down a 3-4 inch layer of wood chip mulch and work your way down to watering 1-2 times per week. You may also look to see if you've got any insects like leaf footed insects causing damage

Great tips, thank for the video. Quick question, im in central California and my pomegranate is still flowering in early October, and all of the other pomegranates are still green. When is the typical harvest season? Unfortunately I don't know what vareity I have. Thank You.

Hey Joshua, it's REALLY late for a pom to be flowering (possibly rogue blooms?). Because pomegranates are deciduous, I'd consider removing any blooms at this time so it won't prevent the tree from going dormant in the next couple months. Do you know the type of pomegranate you've got growing? Give the existing pomegranates an opportunity to ripen up. Here's a vid I did on how to tell if a pomegranate is ripe. Good luck! ruclips.net/video/0HCyTCQJKBc/видео.html

My apologies Brother for my oversight! However, im very appreciative for the great tips you've provided. Im growing two pomegranate trees in 50 gallon pots. Again, my apologies and thank you for the tip. Ive deleted the unintended comment. Stay happy and healthy 😊 ✨️

Cameron. This is a late comment but I just found this video. All my pomegranates split open. Some were eaten by local critters but others not. I did not know they would continue to ripen. Or do they? I have a feeling my problem was irregular watering. My sprinklers are a mess. I plan on doing some new irrigation this spring. Thanks for the videos.

Hi Lyle! I'm bummed to hear about your poms. I Know Your Pain. This is the beauty of the grower's struggle; something goes sideways and it's an opportunity to adjust and respond. It's amazing how something like watering early on can make such a difference near harvest time

Make sure you've got consistent watering, and use a fungicide if you're still seeing splitting.

Where you able to get the parfianka to stop splitting? I just purchased and planted a parfianka so I'm interested, I also have a 3 year old wonderful, that has not fruited yet, and a plantation sweet I'm waiting to arrive.

Yup! Thankfully more consistent watering has gone a long way in helping the situation.

@@TheBusyGardener good to know, I try to keep up on that as well.
It's hard when you have to do it by hose watering. Hopefully I'll get some poms soon!! Thanks for the update. Oh have you tried Eve pomegranate? Supposed to taste like cherry slurpy.
