He is nicest rock star ever Night before show in saint-petersburg (25.08.2015) me and my friend came to the hotel there they stay for a night and Robert came out to sing some stuff for people who was there and he singed poster for me and shake my hand also but we did not expect what somebody came out for us Sorry for my english:)
Y'all seen the video when metallica told him that they wanted Rob to join and they gave him a $1,000,000 right on the spot? And Rob had tears come to his eyes? He was crying because he could finally afford all the Warwick gear he could want!!
That bass is sweet!!! Love that tone and the fact that the body is smaller makes it look super lightweight and sharp. Wish I had just a third of his talent.
Rob is a brilliant amazing bass player, best thing that has happen to the band, what makes Rob amazing is his playing is effortless, there is so much more in the tank to offer, look at auditions there is some decent bass players that struggled to play the Cliff stuff but not Rob, Death Magnetic is amazing record ,
This video was awesome Robert is an awesome Bass Guitarist He and Cliff Burton are the reason I want to be a Bass Guitarist they are both very inspirational to me
I dont think he would've lasted almost 2 decades as the bassist of Metallica if he wasnt an extremely talented, class act individual. Hes paid his dues. Dudes a certified rockstar, legend. People need to recognize this.
I can guarantee you that they thought it was great, makes people talking, probably nothing compared to the millions dollar endorsement deal they gave him. Also, they made the damn thing, they just send it back to the repair shop, give it a little clean up and that's it. Personally I thought it was great haha
That was totally cool of Robert to get the ball rolling on that Jaco biopic. Hopefully it will get done soon. Never met him, but he seems really cool!!!
It's no wonder he scored the gig with the band he had the mightiest tone and the best technique bar none but I think it also had to do with his personality and approach to the instrument and music in general which flowed over into Robs outlook on life he does a good job and definitely deserves the spot after Cliff no doubt about it
It is really hard to rank Cliff, Jason, and Rob. (If that wasn't what you meant, I apologize). Each Metallica bassist brought something positive to the group (although I think Rob is not being utilized to his fullest).
DonKrieg95 I wasn't trying to rank each of them to me cliff brought so much to the band which is why they pursued him in the first place Jason was just like a band aid fix I'm not saying that Jason can't play he definitely can but he was always in the outside looking in at the other three members and it showed but rob seems to have fit right in regarding all aspects of the band,I agree with you I think rob isn't being used to his full potential yet but no doubt in time he will be and hopefully sooner than later! Great band great musicians but when you amass the amount of money they have I guess you can take your time and more or less do what you want to a certain extent for example kirks leads from the ride the lightning era were clear, precise and very long and these days it's like he just jumps on the Wah and belts out any old thing and covers it with the Wah effect it's hard to feel the emotion in his leads then you have rob who seems to bring it all back down to earth and the instrument with some really cool bass lines which is what cliff did ...well to me that what he did anyways
2:21 I feel as though Metallica should put in some slap in their songs, they got distortion, wah and chords from Cliff so why not give Rob something cool to do?
Not saying that there is anything wrong with slap/pop and I'm not saying there won't be a song in the future where it would be appropriate, but as dynamic as Metallica is, I just don't see that kind of style fitting there music. Just my .02.
I think most people feel it wouldnt suit their style. Theres a reason they rejected les Claypool as Cliffs replacement. He is easily one of the most unique & talented players out there but his funky style wouldnt fit in too well with James fast aggressive down picking.
Must be nice to have your basses given to you and just let an expensive instrument fall like that lol. But Rob is an awesome dude, I've met him a few times with BLS, Suicidal Tendencies and Ozzy, always just cool to be around. He's an extremely talented musician though, easily on par with all the greats of today. He's not Cliff, but that doesn't mean he's not just as talented, their playing styles are just wildly different. Cliff was a thrasher that was incredibly melodic, Rob is a funky jazz player that can rip like few others, and as a bass player I have the utmost respect for them AND Jason Newsted as well, one of the most powerful pick style players ever. Take it from a bass player, Metallica has always had monster low end players since 1983. :)
I have been reading comments about rock musicians especially Rob (literally my bass hero),I have never seen such a nice and kind comment like yours ,keep rockin🤘🏄
oh my cuss that bass is gorgeous. it's like he found it in a junk yard and it was glowing with a black smoky ora because it was blessed by a metal priest whom hermits at the base of a sinister mountain the locals call The Devil's Horn.
Nonsense, he plays in one of the best band in the world ..and he is one of the best bass players in the world .. Metallica and robert have taken the right decision!!
+domi2308 You can be a fan and state the facts, that is he is not even close to being one of the "best" bass players in the world. You know what though, I'll let you in on a secret...he doesn't have to be. What he does fulfills the role required in the band he is in. The band he plays in is made of up washed up musicians (minus James, I have hope for him yet) who don't practice their craft or care about quality of music. I can easily see the regression in Rob's playing since being with Metallica. Nothing he plays off the cuff is smooth or flowing which tells me he doesn't play or practice a lot outside of playing Metallica songs. It really shows when he jams with top bassists.
One of the best bands of the world? I SAY the most uninspired amateurish metal band ever. I hate metallica, they ruined Trujillo career, now 90% of old fans don't follow him anymore.
I'd say there's 3 parts of "judging" a musician - and the first part is the musical "skill". An extremely skilled band for example; dream theater. They utilize their skills to create interesting music. The second part is a whole different genre - feeling; like "attitude, emotional input, and so on"..A good example for that would be any one of the great blues kings. Then there is style, which can be a result of the previous two traits plus personal interest. And, togeather these traits form the musician. Metallica is an awesome band and that's proven- go to any live show and see how they connect with the audience. Not only that, they have a loyal fanbase that'll never go away. This is not because of their musical skill mainly, it's because of other traits that go well and connect with the audience. This means that even though Rob might be more skilled, it doens't mean he's a better musician, and it certainly doesnt mean his ability is wasted in Metallica. I'd rather see him in Metallica any day than in some technical band. Dont get me wrong, I enjoy technical bands too. But just because Rob is skilled - doesn't mean it's the only thing he can contribute with. I think it's his attitude and style mainly that adds well into Metallica, while the skill is a great bonus.
guramannen and while his talent and creativity were much more audible with Infectious Grooves, he can take a simple riff or bass line in a metallica song, and either add many more layers to it, or deconstruct it to its basest (lol) parts, while retaining full cognitive understanding of what he's doing, musically. Metallica will never need to teach Rob anything about composition and theory. He jumped in mid-stream and has never lost a step.
Damn it Rockin Rob! You killed it on that bass before you just killed the other bass literally. You DA man!!! Baddest assed bassist on the planet bro! 💯
As a metallica fan I agree. I think Robs strengths in finger picking and funk could be on the spotlight more in Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves.
I don't know but I think Trujillo is a very good human being. He looks humble and easygoing.
+Martin Rodriguez except when he's playing, then he looks like he's shitting himself
+hotdoggravy Especially when he does vocals lol
Check out his playing with Infectious Grooves and Suicidal Tendencies before you make that conclusion.
Ironic giving his appearance but yeah I kinda agree.
Well, you don't know.
He looks so scary, but once you hear him talk he's like the nicest dude ever
The fuck nigga what are you a fuckin child lmfao
Stop repeating everything you see on the internet, you are making a fool out of yourself stupid trend following kid

2:37 never seen this slapping technique before
I think its called the "i dont give a fuck" technique
he's popping multiple strings at the same time. in general, he plays the bass like a flamenco player. it's badass.
He's talking about when he knocked the bass over lol
check out infectious grooves and their song violent and funky, before tj joined /\/\
So oldschool! Check out his career and his former bands. Infectious Groove, etc. and of course Suicidal Tendencies!
This guy is amazing. Never ceases to impress me with his bass skills.
So down to earth. This guy deserves every good fortune headed his way.
he puts basses down to earth for sure
ROB WTF!!!!!!
I heard that bass yell "NOOO"on the way down... ohh that was me.
Lol XD
That was his attempt at Relic'ing it ;)
Rob’s playing is literally infectious (get it lol). He sounds so loud and clean.
my heart actually skipped a beat there at the end... true story...
sooo you're dead then?
Yet you wrote this some how?

No bass were harmed during the making of this clip...
Apart from the one he bitch slapped bro.
Jeremoid Only people harmed......with basses
ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?
you obviously didn´t watch till the end
Besides the one he murdered
he fits Metallica perfectly, but he's so under used
Dillon MacPherson agreeed!
Metallica doesn't deserve him...
Ye, the biggest metal band in the world doesnt deserve him....
Metallica never deserved a dedicated member after all those years Jason had been mistreated.
I think Robert's abilities are stifled to fit Metallica's style. But that's just me.
Rob is a shredding, killing bassist- end of story--- I've been digging his playing since his early days with suicidal- he never disappoints.
+Jason Rosner- Bass I totally agree....!!!
+Jason Rosner- Bass agreed

It's like a fucking battle axe
love the YEAH at the end
Seems like James influenced him there
At the very end, about 14 Framus executives fell out of their chairs and needed oxygen. "What is he DOING"..."
My heart was aching!
Don't worry, it was all a set up.... possibly.
the dude has enough money to buy every bass on that shop, I wouldn't worry about a single guitar falling.
Six String Löve Lol !!!
