@@Magik1369 Well, Richie called on Paul Shaffer to take on a couple of measures and EVH would not stop noodling over his solo. One has to know when to hold back!! Not EVH's specialty.
Yes, Richie does a great job with this song.it’s his style for sure. He loves the Beatles. Not taking anything away from The Beatles because the original can never be duplicated.
I like Richie playing and singing especially on his first solo album but have to say that Eddie has such unique and individual tone and 've seen a few kinda all star gigs and every time his tone is so distinctive...he was a star but didn't care about that red carpet stuff etc and was a humble guy ... real guitar hero!
Richie highly underated guitarist, great voice to boot,i recommend checking out his solo records ,beyond amazing ,especially his first one, stranger in this town.
Damn, what a line-up. I remember when this aired but for some reason my stupid ass missed watching it. I know everyone always goes apeshit for Woodstock, but in my opinion, this may have been the best talent on one stage in the history of rock and roll
you can't be serious......no serious guitar historian would take that seriously....no disrespect to Sambora implied. EVH is the greatest guitar player ever...in the history of guitar.

@@bigdawg7262 technically speaking , you are right but emotionally speaking, not even close. I would much rather enjoy an emotionally charged solo than a brilliantly technical one. I would rather be moved by the music, not amazed by someone who just has the technical skills. Richie is self taught. Go listen to all the solos he has crafted for hundreds of songs and then say he’s not brilliant in his own right.
@@lkey4045 Uhh, EVH was self taught, and not emotional? I'm not sure what EVH music you have heard, but Ed is SO much more than "technical skills". There's a reason Jon Bon Jovi himself called Ed "the Mozart of our generation". Not saying RS is not great. He is, but he is not on Ed's level and he would be the first to say so.
What a narcissistic limelight hog Sambora is. He has the greatest guitar player of all time next to him...Edward Van Halen...and Sambora doesn't even let Eddie get his fair licks in. It's like Sambora's whole goal was to prove he is a guitar player on par with EVH but he clearly is not even close. He does have a much better voice than I thought but I've never been impressed by his guitar playing...which is good but average and does not move people.
This song called for playing in just the manner it was played. Richie was not hogging anything. Max Weinburg was directing it. Richie respects Eddie. They are two completely different style guitarists and this called for a bluesy style, which Richie is very good at. And , he has an amazing voice too. Perfect for this song.
Oh, and to say Richie Sambora’s playing does not move people is ridiculous. He is known for bringing out the emotions of a song by crafting a melodic solo just right for a song.
Whoever managed to put EVH and Sambora in the same band is a genious!
Genius for showing profound contrast. Sambora hogged the limelight an didn't give EVH his due.
@@Magik1369 Well, Richie called on Paul Shaffer to take on a couple of measures and EVH would not stop noodling over his solo. One has to know when to hold back!! Not EVH's specialty.
What you call flashy is EVH's own style, it just flashy to ordinary players, EVH is KING!!
I like Richies Voice. Without him Bon Jovi is nothing
And without jon Bon Jovi, richie sambora is nothing. That's the cold hard truth.
@@brandonvandelden7972 Well, time has ended up showing quite the contrary was true. Without the King of Swing, it was only JBJ and Friends!!
@@DeOmnibusDubitandum76 I never said anything to the contrary. They are BOTH NOTHING WITHOUT THE OTHER. Learn how to read.
Listen to Richie's voice. He is amazing. He has the greatest voice I've ever heard. So much more powerful than anyone else's I can think of.
The original singer of this song Sir Paul McCartney smokes Sambora.

Sambora najlepszy muzyk na świecie

What was "AWESOME" was how he let Richie Sambora have his place in the spotlight. Now that's classy.
Para mí fue unos de los mejores guitarrista
oh yes richie sambora and eddie van halen....
love it!!
dont try n compare them.. there both awesome on guitar with there own styles!!
Love Eddie's playing on this song...Fun to see him play stripped down and relaxed.
Richie highly underated guitarist, great voice to boot,i recommend checking out his solo records ,beyond amazing ,especially his first one, stranger in this town.
Agree!
2:05 when Richie plays his little lick ... eddies like “WHooo.. that’s sweet”
Got goosebumps listening to this - it was magic! RIP Eddie. We mere mortals miss you.
Very very few guitarist have an original sound , evh is one of them
First time I’ve seen that in this 2020 lockdown . Brilliant ❤️❤️
ED SO DISTINCTIVE, SIMPLY THE BEST....CIGARETTE IN HIS MOUTH, READY TO 🎸 ROCK🙏❤
Two guitars god!!
wow. this is awesome.
richie musta been THRILLED!!!
I love that my two all time favorite guitarists ever Eddie and Richie.

Richie Sambora and Bryan Adams....MORE!
I wish we could watch the whole concert!
so good!!
I know! When will that ever happen again! Wish I could have been there!
Sambora se los comió a todos
king Eddie best guitarist
Richie's has got some balls tryin to solo with Eddie,, Respect the KING Richie, EVH OWNS!!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
No me canso de ver este video
All those talented musicians, and Paul Shaffer?
EVH, what a master, but he just kept on noodling over Paul Shaffer's solo after Richie called on him to take one. You have to know when to hold back!!
You're welcome!
Eddie was playing with 1 finger of both hands..
Oppps, I forgot... :-D "one of my mistery missing VHS tapes". I know exactly what you mean, hahhaah. I have the same problem.
@downincognito72 you're just jealous because he is so talented!!!
Eddie is lost when there is something with Rhythm
Sambora lo mas grande... van halen niun brillo solo rapidez solo estilo fome!!
Richie it was nice of you to let those other people on your stage just kidding,---you need to solo more you sing great.

I'm an Eddie fan, but his playing is very one-dimensional.
lol. You are an Eddie fan--but he is " one - dimensional". Maybe you are delusional.
eddie wasted - feeble attempt at a solo on his part - sambora salvaged that. just as well Eddie did not light up with his breath flammable
no way to compare EVH sound to Sambora...
@Skid20055 thumbs down? NOT AT ALL. he has far more talent than EVH.
I agree with 80n Jov1 from 8yrs. ago
my Richie can really play that guitar like no other . Hes the best
