Seattle 89 is edited a fuck ton, Moscow 1991 is a better show and less edited for example in the Seattle 89 show they enhanced James' voice and in Moscow his voice is just more raw sounding, imo Moscow 1991 is a better show.

Can I recommend the two films by the H P Lovecraft Historical Society....The Call Of Cthulhu and The Whisperer In Darkness. Both are in black and white, 1930s style, and very faithful to the stories. They’re not well known, but they’re brilliant. Also there’s a German version of The Colour Out Of Space called “Die Farbe” that’s pretty damn good too.

No one has the proper imagination to do Cosmic style Lovecraft justice, even Del Toro had a TERRIBLE script to At the Mountains of Madness. Oddly the closest "Lovecraft" we ever got was John Carpenters' "In the Mouth of Madness" which, as we know, was basically a love letter to Lovecraft.
Re-Animator was great but didn't deal with the cosmic horror aspect of Lovecraft so I don't count it.

    • @Fluffykeith
      @Fluffykeith 5 лет назад

Steven Rice “Dagon” was pretty decent, apart from the lead actor who overplayed everything. There’s also a movie called “”The Void” that has a good try at cosmic horror.

Both this song and "The Call of Ktulu (Cthluhu)" were inspired by the band's love for the works of HP Lovecraft. His works dealt heavily with horrors beyond the realms of human understanding. In particular the Great Old One Cthulhu, who dwells dead but dreaming in the ancient city of R'lyeh under the sea with all manners of other monstrosities. They even paraphrase the most famous line from all of Lovecraft's works in this song:
"That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange aeons even death may die."

Hi again from Winterthur Switzerland Kel & Rich!!!
I have really really special Reaction Request for you two!!
As SABATON did their first ever Brazilian tour I was on vacation there with my wife and I took the opportunity to see my favourite Swedish band live in Brazil. The next Surprise was that they had written and composed an album of WAR- "HEROES" and one: (SMOKING SNAKES!!!! ) was dedicated to the war Heroes of the Brazilian army who went to fight the Nazis in 1944 to 1945 in Northern Italy. Even the fans in cooperation of the Band managed to find a Soldier who fought along side the British and American troops.
If you wonder WHERE I AM in the audience just check out the BOLD HEADED GUY with the only young Boy on his shoulders.
It was so memorising and a magic moments to have seen Brazilians celebrating their heritage and involvement in Fighting the Nazis and help saving us from the Tyranny of Hitler...!!! I really hope you take my request seriously and will Enjoy that song and show as all other 400 fans there did including me!!!

The song is in reference to the ancient God, Cthulhu. A monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind.

The tale by Lovecraft entitled The Shadow Over Innsmouth may well be the inspiration for Metallica’s The Thing That Should Not Be. But the phrase is actually used in At The Mountains Of Madness to describe a shoggoth: I use italics to quote highlight the phrase in the quotation below:
“It was the utter, objective embodiment of the fantastic novelist’s ‘thing that should not be’; and its nearest comprehensible analogue is a vast, onrushing subway train as one sees it from a station platform-the great black front looming colossally out of infinite subterraneous distance, constellated with strangely coloured lights and filling the prodigious burrow as a piston fills a cylinder.”
Oddly enough, the phrase thing that should not be does not actually occur in The Shadow Over Innsmouth.

This is one of many of the songs Metallica has written relating to the ancient Sumerian Tiamat and Kutulu.

It's the most overrated Metallica song. Slow and boring.

It's funny. I'm probably twenty years younger than Rich, but I had a similar math class experience as Rich. Except it was the Black Album that was blaring out of my Sony CD player.

Awesome channel. Love from India. Mwy your son Rock in Peace. He's probably headbannging with Lemmy, Dime, Jeff, Cliff, Dio and others.
This song has a very possessive effect. You could just get lost in the depth of its groove. I get goosebumps ecah time i hear it...
