The face James makes when he says the title of the song gives me chills. It's like he actually tapped into the heart and soul of Cthulhu himself

I always felt the same about how James looks and sounds evil as fuck during this, always somehow even more chilling every time I watch it

One of the reasons that James was at his best during this period is that he really did throw all of his angst and rage and despair- especially over the death of Cliff Burton- into his live performances. Those close-ups of his face, particularly in the last two verses in which he looks like evil incarnate… That’s real rage right there. That is true resentment of, disdain for, and loathing of the world and all it took from him from childhood through Cliff’s death.
That’s the terrible irony of James Hetfield; in order to be the best performer he could be, he had to embrace this toxic personality, And, the heavy drinking that it took to both keep it in check and to fuel it. (I know that sounds like a contradiction, but it’s not. Trust me on this: I did the same thing, for 20 years, only I wrote fiction and he wrote songs.

Metallica at their peak imo. Saw them on this tour in Honolulu they had something to prove . From Blackend to the last song they were like a hot rod engine
Loud and tuned to perfection. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

It don't get any more metal than this.
Saw them in New Orleans and then Shreveport on this tour when I was a senior in High School.

Great reaction! I'm not a huge fan of this song, but this version is brutal and wonderful. The intensity that James brings with the vocals is great. One of my favorite Metallica lines (from this song, inspired by others) is "not dead which eternal lie, stranger eons death may die." That lines gives me goosebumps.

ITs incredible how ahead of its time this album is. Gojira might have hit this level of heavy metal mixed with flawless composition 20 years later.

    Dude, try some black metal!
I offer you Immortal - Blashyrkh (Mighty Ravendark) live at Wacken 2007
They are really cool dudes, despises theys are truely norweian black-metallists lol, but i'm sure you will feel the wibe.
Norway has three treasures: fish, oil, and black metal. Immortal is the impotant one.
Sry for my English, cheers from Russia.

Can’t beat Metallica with Newsted on bass, man is a monster on the stage. Love his backing vocals.
I know I already requested Four Horseman (can’t wait for you to check it out), but man, I just realized you haven’t been blessed by the pure thrash that is Creeping Death (my favourite song of all time). The Seattle ‘89 performance of Creeping Death is brutal. One of the heaviest breakdowns of all time, made about 100x more evil with Jason on bass/vocals.
Also unrelated: saw that you had checked out some of Limp Bizkits newer stuff. If you’re into the high-energy live shows, you’ve gotta check out their performance of Thieves from 99 Woodstock. Insane energy.

Aye my apologies man I know you asked for that a while ago, I'll have it up soon, and creeping death from this concert will deffs be up soon also, and fuck yeah Limp Bizkit live would be sick

@@JustinPiercee no problem, man. Been enjoying your other reactions as well! Definitely will keep an eye out for your upcoming Seattle ‘89 videos though. Just realized you did check out Creeping Death from Moscow; I still have to say that I think Seattle is the better show though! You won’t likely find a live video of it, but Dyers Eve is another top 3 Metallica song for me. Probably their ‘angriest’ song, and was their last true thrash song before the Black Album came out.
And for sure, Limp Bizkit puts on a great show. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone react to their Thieves cover, but I just love that Woodstock performance, so much energy.
Just saw Megadeth live last night they were 10/10. Would love to see you check some Megadeth out too. The Megadeth song Mechanix is actually Dave Mustaines version of the Four Horseman as he was their original guitarist and wrote a lot of the riffs for that first Metallica album.
Anyways, obviously you only have so much time to make videos, but just some more suggestions. Rock on 🤘🏻

@@Scooby_Dum that would have been sick man wow, and yeah I'll get to em, bout to post limp bizkit break stuff from woodstock 99, I checked out Thieves and it was awesome , the energy but I'll hold off on it for now since its a cover song, but let me know if you got oter limp bizkit and ill do em man
