I love how both the game and show versions serve the same narrative purpose but take different routes. The game, with a bitter, cold Bill, shows Joel what he will become if he never lets himself care for people again. The show version gave Joel an example of what he could have if he does let himself care again.
Wow, I didn't even think of this. That's such a good observation! I already loved the creator for the differences they added to the show but since this was a new whole scene I didn't really compare the two and how it showed Joel the two different versions of how his life could be. Damn i love this comment lol thank you 💜
This episode is well crafted and well acted and it wrecks everyone who watches it. It comes out of nowhere even for people who played the game. In your intro, you mentioned how you liked that they were sticking true to the game so I'm glad you liked this change. One difference between the game and the TV show is the show can do a flashback into the life of side characters, and they've also had a decade to realize they could have done the Bill/Frank storyline better. My personal headcanon is that game-Bill stayed paranoid and didn't let Frank beautify where they lived by giving him the paint and gas for the lawnmower, but TV-Bill did compromise and was changed by that relationship with Frank. One thing I have seen pointed out is that Massachusetts first ruled that same-sex marriage was legal in November 2003, and the outbreak started in September, so marriage was never something Bill and Frank considered until later. I also looked it up and realized that Michael "heck of a job" Brown was in charge of FEMA during September 2003, who you may remember from Hurricane Katrina. I figure that illustrates how well the federal government dealt with Outbreak Day...
Lmfao right i literally was JUST saying I didn't want them to switch up from the game, but honestly loveddd this episode. All the added details and backstory that we got to see that was new to Everyone including the people who played the game was amazing, This episode honestly made me realize that i'm actually Okayy with them switching/adding things that weren't in the game. It's pretty obvious that they put a lot of thought into this show, so I know they won't disappoint me with anything they switch or add. Ohhhh that actually makes sense because I was wondering why they waited so long to get married & Yeah that's about right , because outbreak day was shady af.
@@Animaee_Reactions I haven't played the game, but it seems to me the key is a deep understanding and appreciation for the game to expand it into new material. A lot of shows fail to adapt simply because they lack the skill and depth, and there's no magic solution to this. I don't know if you are familiar with it, but the Sandman Netflix series is based on a comic book, and the writer (Neil Gaiman) was heavily involved in the live series. And it's a brilliant transition that is, in some respects, even an improvement of the original. So I guess you need a magic combination of having the original creators still involved and having creators who really get both mediums.
I can 100% agree with this! I’ve noticed this in other projects as well, where the creator was heavily involved and it ended up being great instead of flopping when the creator has nothing to do with it.
Hey, everything is well. Still going through a few things but decided it was time to start uploading again! Also, Thank you so much for understanding & sticking around even though I wasn’t posting. Really appreciate it💜
Very glad to have found your channel. I love your reactions to the episodes, especially as you have played the game. I hope to see more of your content. Well Done!
I wasn't surprised I cried at another episode of The Last of Us, but I had no idea that we'd be getting this sort of storyline in a zombie apocalypse series.
@@Animaee_Reactions it's fine I'm just glad you're ok🥺lol I was just going through my subscriptions and I was unfollowing a lot of people and just keeping the ones I want to keep up with and I seen that you haven't posted in a while and I loved your reactions lol

Omg I know, like I played the game but I wasn’t expecting to cry like this 😅
I'm allergic to sad things. They make my eyes water. :)
Me too 😂
You know what's funny? That virus messed up the world in 2003. That means that in this universe, music ended with In Da club by 50 cents.
I’m not gonna lie this was super random but this is definitely one of my favorite comments 😂
Great reaction.
Thank you!
