Yeah, I had always thought one or two of these parked at some obscure location outside the galaxy would have been the perfect base of operations for the rebel alliance. Basically use one for manufacturing combat ships and equipment and the other for housing and training troops. Then supply them via a networked transportation hub systems using the huge number of CR-75s the rebellion possessed.

@@johnpatz8395 In my shops RPG, we just put a Jawa sand crawler into a ship and used it to mine asteroids and create 40 ton condense rods on iron to use as mass diver bolts. Soft abstract math from Starships of the Galaxy the X-wing landing pad cargo weight was 40tons and at full ramming speed the ship impacts as a proton torpedo doing 8d10x2 dmg. med size light to heavy cargo space transport allowed in game, suggested by the core books to keep PC tension high is limited to 99.9/ 100m legth with a .. limited .. cargo carry weight in a few thousands of tons.
As for hard math in dealing with kinetic impact weight/ density = mass + speed, that will cover pages to properly go over. And the smallest fusion warhead we could pack into a concussion warhead fired from Y-wing is measure between 1kiloton to 5kiloton yield, base weight of the suitcase nuke is 80lb/ 40kilog of heavy metal and around 20lb of high explosives. Now just figure out the speed/ weight of a MAC kinetic missile fired from a 70m. long ship.
Less space fantasy of Force powers and more of a ttrpg wargame.

I remember playing WEG in high school in the early 1990's and in the early 2000's as an adult with other college level math students.
WEG had a .. fun .. ? workable abstract dice rule system for over all combat. What made it wonderful in regards to word math problems was there .. space unit speed .. in ship combat. Also that rule of average travel time between a plant and its nearest moon being within 30 minutes. That way we could figure out what the pacing of knietic impact was in space combat. Such as the Gthrecho freighter moving at 3 space units, the slowest in the book yet in the campaign source book stating it was slightly above average in speed. So we place a space unit speed being 107km/s. & melee or action rounds being 5 seconds in time, =535km/s. travel speed. x ship's space unit factor.
At that point we had a base for fuel from the fission drives, structural integrity/ defector shields for base space travel and start to factor weapon damage. WEG was set up as abstract yet they subtle drop some hard math science into game play, not to mention more than a few typos through out the book and on how the Force to work that cause my high school English teachers to roll their eyes on.
Both of my two D&D/ MtG RPG shops always took information and style of play from WEG and apply the soft rules into their WotC D&D3.5e/ Star Wars RPG play games.

Here's a thought. The Rebellion picked up some Lucrehulks, right? Why wouldn't they have gotten the battle droids, too?
A Dreadnaught requires 16,000 crew, but a lot of those are for maintenance. A Dreadnaught with 8,000 reprogrammed Battle Droid 1s becomes much more managable.

Interesting choice going with the assault frigate Mk2 instead of the Mk1.

    • @theidajawho

probably because the MK1 is much more well known and this is titled "Lesser Known"

@@theidajawho that could very well be it, although they did include the DP20 Corellian Gunship, the MC30 and MC40 which are probably about as well known as the Mk1.

Haha, did you get lambastered for showing a picture of the Sundered Heart when you were talking about the CR90? Weird that it's called the Tantive III now. I guess Disney decides what's canon and what's not.

    • @maxrander0101

the Sundered heart is not the ship he showed that ship only exists in games and was not tied to the royal house or the Tantive line of ships

@@maxrander0101 I see. If I recall correctly though, on Wookieepedia it used to say that's what it was. But that was before the franchise was sold to Disney so undoubtedly that has changed.

Basically all the old Expanded Universe books, games, and guides are no longer canon.

      @ManWithBeard1990 3 года назад

@@maxrander0101 Okay, but just to be clear, in Legends the Sundered Heart was indeed the ship that rescued Obi-Wan during Order 66, and was later modified to look like you describe. And apparently it was also upgraded to CR90 spec. New canon just calls it the Tantive III and pretends all that stuff after Episode III never happened, but it is the same ship.

I had never seen these concept arts for the Millennium Falcon before. Yet as someone that is not a fan of the Falcon design I think the change was for the better. I think the original look would more severely have dated things.

Tbh I just don't see how the mk2 cam from the Dreadnought. I see it in the mk1, but the mk2 just looks nothing like it. Best I could guess is that they just liked the role of the mk1 and custom made a similar ship to fill the same job so that they didn't have to keep chopping up dreadnoughts
