- Yonge Street Bridge aka Kurt Cobain Bridge / Landing in Aberdeen is a site Nirvana fans from all over the world go to. But what is interesting to note is that the pathway most of us take to get under the bridge, isn't the original pathway. Aberdeen native Jeanene showed me the way Kurt would have taken to get under the bridge.

He never lived under the bridge. It was just a spot where kids got high and threw parties.
Hey Kurt, that “something” you were singing about, it’s still in the way.
That's an amazing joke 🤣🤣
Thank you for sharing, it's precious for Kurt's fans
"Something in the way" makes a lot more sense suddenly.
Yeah, us "Grunge" generation are in our late 40s and 50s nowadays.
Late thirties to man, name the band and I seen them in concert.
Thanks man!
I need to hear more stories about after show activities. Eddie Vedder said that a lot of times the local Seattle bands would end up at a house party and have “all star” jams. Vedder on drums, Novoselic on guitar, Buzz on bass.....and so on.
We used to hang out under an I-75 overpass in Lake Orion Michigan where I grew up, it had a GM train track running through it which also ran 15 feet behind my friends garage where we would jam. We would smoke pot drink and graffiti, hide when the train engine came by. Once the conductor was out of view we would throw rocks and rusted railroad spikes at the train cars carrying Cadillacs. Sometimes they got through, this is far passed the statue of limitations
Hella degenerate. You'd have been better served getting an education and being able to buy one of those aforementioned Cadillacs. Getting old sucks and is hard and money certainly helps. Good luck.
Thanks @
Daniel Sarkissian for sharing this moment with the rest of us!
Is this the place they animated in montage of heck documentary? Where they smoked and drank
yes
We really do have some weird cultural landmarks.
Nice vid mate , we used to sit under a bridge back in the 90s which looked practically the same as under this and at the time had old dis used railway tracks it was out of the way and we would get high drink etc and stay out of the rain wind n cold . 👍
Kurt living under the bridge it's just an exaggeration from Kurt
According to Krist Novoselic
obviously it was a hangout. If he and a bunch of youth spent many days and or evenings hanging out under there one could said he basically "lived" under the bridge. He mentioned it jokingly in an interview once I am sure and the media just ran with it.
Wow!
I like this. It really humanizes Kurt. Takes away the mythological rock star shit.. even though of course "living under this bridge" was a part of the mythology.
But yeah... it reminds me of bridges I've drunk and smoked pot under. I could imagine Kurt carefully making his way under that bridge like me and some friends have done in the past at bridges in our area.
Good work.
But we have videos from the 90s under the bridge and it’s very close, probably during the 80s,that was a more ’secret stoners place’ more wilderness.
And about the water elevation, yeah sometime, but not every day, just see the plants.
It was a pleasure meeting you and getting to show you the little things I know and I'm so excited I found your page!
Wow, I never would have found that way in a million years. This is almost as exciting as finding the titanic.
Agreed. Biggest archaeological discovery in the past 100-200 years IMO
I live near here but like what's the bridge called I wanna gooo. I've seen his house and shit but I didn't know about thsiss
I don't live in seattle but it's called the young street bridge
Why would they even have to wait for no cars to be looking? Don’t think anyone cares if some kids are playing under a bridge. I would take this random lady’s Mrs. Bridge expert’s story with a grain of salt.
Cuz hick squares don't like pot smoking teens in their town and could call pigs that's why
Growing up back then in the 80's you had lots of neighborhood "busy bodies" that would call the cops on you for nothing. We had a similar creek by were we grew up and you had to sneak into it or the locals would call the cops. Today you don't really see that anymore roving groups of kids or teenagers walking around outside getting into trouble.
We went under that bridge to get stoned a couple times and that was it. I have no idea how everyone thinks Kurt lived there or anything else, he didn't.
It is funny how much that bridge us analyzed because of a song. If Kurt was alive he would be baffled at the analysis going on.
RHCP has the under the bridge, I've seen pictures of it. It's small , on a walkway that Anthony use to go there to score drugs.
Reminds me of my city til the later 2000s, just a normal place for a normal man
Define "normal"
Bridge is scheduled for demolition...
Wait o this lady actually knew Kurt and was with Kurt back then?
Kurts like im glad i got millions of dollars and faked my death so I don’t have to go to that lame old bridge for something to do anymore look at all these people going down to the old bridge where i was bored out of my mind lol
Aytch and Gigi absolutely
What a nice woman!
420th like
Nice. Teenage wasteland.
