- I got hands on use of the new Professional Precision Adjust by Worksharp. Provided by the amazing people at River’s Edge Cutlery. This is a long video as it covers unboxing and first real use of it along with some tips as I go along.
Absolutely awesome video! I have watched many, and this is the most detailed, helpful review I have seen of this product!
Awesome. Very cool you was able to pick it up 👍
Very relaxing session and useful tips. 👍
Best instructional video I’ve found on this product. Mine arrives tomorrow. New sub today.
Awesome! Thank you!
Keep working that machine, and good info.
Looks like a nice setup man
Thank you for the detailed how to video
I get mine i a couple of days
Excellent video, thank you!
Thank you for making this video.
Nice unboxing and how too video! : )
Thanks for the vid. I have mine on order
Great video!
Thanks!
@Tony Kim - THANK YOU!!! I've been trying to find out what the main components are manufactured with and of the 15?? 20?? reviews I've watched so far no-one has talked about it Presumably not part of the talking points provided by Work Sharp.
You've earned my sub, because you obviously think like a real user/customer. Thanks heaps.
Sub'd and notification bell set to "All".
Pro tip you don't have to pull out the brace when you need to flip, just pull that lach on the top and tilt it back and then flip the blade. I lucked out and got one of the numbered first batch and have used it quite a bit. Always tighten the clamp as hard as you can.
Thx for the video!
Definitely the Best tutorial video I seen on this subject ! I just wish you'd have give your nose a good blow beforehand! Great informative video though - I'll definitely be investing in one of these come pay day x x x
Thanks man. Yeah allergies have been killing me and stress isn’t helping my body haha. But yeah I heard all the sniffs after and definitely cringed 😂
Use more travel on the stone and don’t come off at the tip. You’re going to wind up rolling it over. Keep at least half the width of the stone on the blade at all times.
No one asked for advice here but when I need it I’ll be sure to contact you. ❤️
As easy to use and straight forward as it is, there is still a proper process and learning curve to doing a great job, you helped with that, thanks!
Also, right on their website, it says all of their systems are designed to be used dry do not use water or any kind of oil
I’m just a naughty boy 🥰
Tony is an absolute legend at making sharp edges even sharper. No need to question his method
Thanks for the review. I am torn between this and the kme. I know you have plenty of kme experience. Any thoughts on that comparison?
Cool system for those that want a good sharp edge and don't want to spend the money for professional level sharpening supplies. Although I'd recommend a kme for a bit more $ and get way more stone options
I agree. I can’t decide for people between the kme and this. I personally started on the kme after my years of sharpmaker use. But more choices is never a bad thing
Tony i just got one of these , i was wondering if i should use the stones wet or dry , this video answered that for me going to pick up some lapping fluid asap , great video ✌🏽
Yeah I prefer wet as it makes cleaning easier. Let me know how it works out for you!
Maybe Trend lapping fluid.
I still have some understanding of the method for measuring angles on the other side of the straight edge (15-30 degrees). According to calculations, the angle to be sharpened will be α, and we have the formula sin α = the distance from the vertical axis to the blade edge.
If the widths of the blades are the same, then the angle measuring tool can be accurate. However, with a utility knife, the width of the blade differs from the blade used for cutting or peeling fruits. So how do people solve this problem?
To address this issue, people use specialized tools or techniques. One common approach is to use an adjustable angle guide or honing guide that allows for precise angle adjustments. These guides typically have a mechanism to hold the blade securely at the desired angle while sharpening.
Another method is to use sharpening jigs or fixtures specifically designed for different types of blades. These jigs hold the blade in a fixed position and ensure consistent sharpening angles.
Additionally, experienced users may develop their own techniques and methods based on their expertise. They might rely on visual cues, such as the alignment of the blade with certain reference points or using specialized honing stones with predefined angles.
In summary, the problem of different blade widths in various cutting tools is addressed by using adjustable angle guides, sharpening jigs, or personal techniques developed by experienced individuals. These approaches help maintain consistent and accurate sharpening angles regardless of the blade width.
Can you make a video sharpening a Japanese chef knife? That’d be helpful. Great video!
I just got the normal precision adjust and for whatever reason I can't turn the knife almost like it's locked, and it didn't say anything in the directions so I've just been undoing it and flipping it that way opposed to just rotating it I'll have to mess with it more but I mainly just got it for reprofiling and then I finish up freehand
I do believe there is a red ? button on the back of the unit. Depress it while turning knife 180 degrees,
Lolollolllll
Thought I was getting a new pair of Adidas!!
Nice looking set up. Not sure about a convex rod though. I don't think the abrasive holder would slide on a curved rod.
Agreed. With the mechanics it’s not like other guided systems. But who knows maybe they got some tricks up their sleeves
@@KnifeNinjaEDC I've been considering a guided system but I like convex edges. Haven't heard too many positives about that approach.
Check the change in sharpening angle from heel to tip on long knives. Can be up to 6’. Add a few more for clamp deflection. Unacceptable as far as I’m concerned
Why are you so sure, about the upgrades especially for stoneholder, that they are comin‘?
I’m going on educated assumptions. Maybe I wasn’t clear in the video but in no way am I inferring that I know for sure. I apologize for that if I did
You shouldn’t go over the top of the blade like that or you will roll it. You should never go past half the width of the stone on the tip.
I’ve done this long enough where that is not an issue but agreed newbies be careful at the tip. Thanks buddy 👍
They say not to use any oil or water.
Is that a question? I don’t know what they said and who would have said it
Work sharps video says it's a dry system. You should watch it.
It’s not needed however, you get way better results with lubricants. Plus, Tony is an absolute MASTER at making sharp edges. No need to question his methods.
Try Trend laping fluid
Has anybody adequately tested the small blade fixture’s effectiveness? I have a number of small to medium traditional pocket knives and the effectiveness of that fixture is important to me.
Unfortunately I didn’t have any small blades handy to test them on and my time with it was limited. And I haven’t seen any videos myself on it
@@KnifeNinjaEDC I wasn’t being critical of you. I’m just curious about how well the magnet based fixture works.
I haven’t watched this full review yet, but why is nobody talking about the GARBAGE clamping system. The amount of flex this has is unacceptable for a $300 unit. Any blade under 2mm thick and over 6 ounces(think kitchen chief knife) flops around in the clamps. I think the rubber in the clamp is the culprit. It just doesn’t provide enough clamping force on thinner blades. I don’t recommend the system. It’s fine on light weight pocket knives though, which seems to be the only knives people doing reviews of the system use.😐
That is why i have the KME sharpener. The clamping system on it is nothing short of genius.
@@bobdayton9608 Haha I have a KME unit also but it leaves something to be desired with sharpening larger knives.
@@goforbroke2 True.
Also, measure thr difference in sharpening angke from heel to tip on a long knife. Up to 6’, few more with the deflection of the clamp
I think you have a garbage knife because it doesn’t flex at all only my teeth, knives flex and it’s the actual knife blade that is flexing
Caliburn! Lol
First they said to buy their belt sharpener.
Then they said to buy the Ken onion bc it fixes all the problems with the other one.
Not long after they said to really get it right you should buy the belt grinder attachment so the Ken onion will work better.
All of a sudden you don't need any of that stuff, you need our Precision Adjust sharpener. This really is the one.
But it wasn't so you spent mire money on 3d printed parts to fix all the flaws.
Worksharp to the rescue with the Elite Precision Adjust Sharpener. This is really really the one you need. It upgrades the one that was the one and now this is the one.
Then they gave your maxed out credit card a break for a minute so you could forget everything else they told you for years and buy the PRO PRECISION ADJUST SHARPENER. We swear. This really really is the very last one. Just 300 more of your hard earned dollars. Put the last 1290.00 of stuff we sold you on ebay and give us 300 more.
This is Progress. First we only wrote letters and gave them to people heading in the general direction we needed them to go and hope they made it to the right person. Then we invented the post. Then we had telegrams, then the telephone, then fax machines, then dial up and email, then highspeed and social media.
You can use what ever product you purchased and like, you dont have to upgrade. It would be a dumb company that came to market with a tool and then got feed back and not acted on the short comings.
@@chuckfieroagreed. I don’t even want to guess the amount I’ve spent with sharpeners but I loved the journey and what I’ve learned. Started a long time ago on the sharpmaker. Got a kme two years ago. Dumped money in to stones and accessories. Then a TSProf blitz, kadet and now a k03. And the stones. Don’t get me started on the stones
Si tu pouvais corriger ton reniflement dans le micro, se serait extra.
Merci
Are you sick ?
The Constant Snorting Noise is Unbearable.
I hope it isn’t because of a drug habit. I had a friend that had that problem.
Yessir I was sick haha. I appreciate the concern though. 🙏
For 300, just buy one of hapstone system.. better .. no need for extra knife holder, stone holder. Work sharp seem unstable all together.
Очень плохой станок!купи себе TSPROF это лучшие станки !🇷🇺👍
