only problem is they've been sold out of the invader 2.0 for quite some time, so even if you find one on eBay, if you break it they aren't going to have a replacement in stock for you
Good review dude! By the way those bags are actually really handy. Helps protect the shell of the helmet when in transport and makes it really easy to carry when your transporting your gear to the car from the house. They’re also really thin and vented my helmets never get gross🙏🏾
I got the IXS Trigger FF. It gets a bit hot for 90’s and above. I tend to use the Bell Super Air R for hitting flow jump trails above 90’s. However the IXS Trigger FF is my preferred helmet as it’s more robust than any other Enduro full face on the market, it’s comfortable, it vents well, multiple adjustments, it’s design to be used with googles and I love the chin strap. My only complaint would be 1 of the holes that is for attaching the rear strap is a bit to big so that part detaches when attempting to take the helmet off. I can always glue it but IXS provided me a replacement helmet.
Yeah I looked at the Bell Air R too. If I lived in an area that had extended slow climbs to get to fun downhills I would have gone with a detachable chin bar like that one. But since that’s not the case I’ll just suffer through the heat a couple months of the year or just wear the open face helmet on some of those occasions.
8:44 there is a 1 meter high rebar on the side of a local trail so I always try to not get too close to it. I named the trail Rebar cus of it. so hitting that would not be good. no clue why it is there, but I reported it, but it's not been removed, but at least I did what I could.
Recently some broken branch that wasn't like all dried out got caught in my big holed, well ventilated helmet making some decent damage to EPS and scuffs to the shell. I thought what if it was direct hit to my skin? So you're not wrong by thinking about large vents this way. But equal danger even for 30yo and above is overheating and accidents due to "brain fatigue". I've experienced this twice within a year at 36yo and it's no fun to feel this way. Trying to push through this state would certainly be dangerous and could cause serious crash, so despite not being ideal, I prefer most and largest vents I can get. Thanks for thorough look at the helmets.
Glad that branch didn’t make its way through to your head! I never thought of fatigue from overheating and crashing. I do wish that Kali helmet fit better to have the better ventilation but overall I’m still happy with the IXS.
Great review man, thank you for putting it together. I am interested in the IXS Trigger FF but the sizing has me a bit nervous, I am a 59cm head and some reviews have said that it was tight (s/m) at 58cm. I'll probably go with the M/L and hope for the best.
The magnetic closure clip, I don't think that would pass any safety test on a motorcycle helmet. The D-ring closure may be a hassle but it doesnt come undone hitting the ground.
@@downtoridemtb I know that, but isnt a crash a crash at some point? Rocks are just as hard for a bicyclist, falling off a cliff is the same thing. I wonder how these magnetic clips hold up in a clutch situation.
Need to do an updated one with the Dainese LINEA 01 since its nkw the lightest (like 570gram/medium) Still has alot of vents, 30 to be exact) (invader has 35) And its DH rated with MIPS along with other features.
XS-M. I did an updated video not too long ago with the Invader V2 in L-XL which fits better. Little on the big size but definitely better. I just happen to be right in between sizes. The V2 is much better though with the dial adjust fit.
Thanks for the review. I'm looking at the IXS and I'm right between sizing at 58 1/2. Do you think the S/M would not be to snug? Also how are you liking the IXS? Thanks
I like it a lot so far. Only complaint I have so far and it’s minor and it only matters since I’m making videos.... I mounted my GoPro to the chin bar and something about the position or the vents picks up terrible wind noise from my breathing. Anyway for your sizing I think you’d probably be ok with either. If you have a wide jaw then maybe go for the bigger size. But for me even at about 57.5 I still have to click the adjustment dial a number of times.
@@downtoridemtb You can get adhesive "plush" wind covers for microphones that you just stick over the holes. That should help with breath or air causing too much noise. I know it's cold outside now, but how's the ventilation so far?
Thanks! Yeah I taped some soft foam over the mics but I’ll get the real deal stuff if that doesn’t work. The ventilation in the helmet is good. I’ve worn it in mid to upper 80s and it was good. Almost like not wearing a full face.
Talked to kali Reason its not down hill rated is due to to many vents in the rear of the Helmet. Version 3 will def be DH rated and possibly rated for the new NTA Dutch/ Ebike standard
That’s cool. I was trying to get my hands on a version 2 helmet to see if it felt any better. Anyway for a lot of people downhill rated isn’t necessary. It wasn’t a deciding factor for me.
@@downtoridemtb not for me now either.. I just always assumed the DH rating was for the chin bar but it's actually for the whole helmet. But if they're going to make one that's stronger I'll take it
Right on. Yeah if it fits your head well, it’s probably the better helmet anyway, DH or not. Gotta be cooler with all those vents. Hopefully they can keep it mostly that way with version 3.
@@PghMtbRides I emailed Kali this morning and their national sales manager replied, "There is no Invader 3.0 in the works. At some point there will be but we have 5 helmets in development and right now that isn’t one of them."
@@FrozenRev i can forward a screenshot of them stating there's one in the works and that theyre testing it. And it'll pass DH soec and should pass new Dutch/ebike spec.
Does this have venting near the ears? I noticed that’s a common complaint with some of the other full face helmets (Fox Proframe, Giro Switchblade, etc)
So I got the IXS helmet... normally I love their stuff, but do you find that it lifts up from the front too easily? I feel like my IXS will roll back a good amount more than it should if I were to crash.
I would be interested to know if you have any ideas regarding the comparison of the iXS Trigger FF with the 7iDP Project 23 ABS. While slightly heavier, the 7iDP is about $100 cheaper. I'm not doing any DH/shuttles or such, mostly just continuing to improve my techniques and can see myself needing a FF pretty soon as I improve. But, I'm in Texas, so weight and airflow (in addition to protection) are important to me. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
I should have weighed them. Check the manufacturer websites I bet they list it. But honestly they are both very light and I don’t think a few grams would sway me one way or the other.
I own the IXS Triger FF and i´ve been using it for the whole season. The helmet is awesome, super confortable and light. I had 2 crashes, one of then i hit my head really hard and the helmet did it´s job really good, i didn´t have not even a headache. However I´m very dissapointed due to the nonexistence crash replacement program, this is a quite expesive helmet and is sad to pay a full price for a replacement.
Ah I did t realize they didn’t do anything for crash replacements. Glad you’re ok though! And I agree, very light and comfortable. Almost forget you have a full face one.
It’s great! Very light and breathable. Almost forget you have a full face on. Only regret is not being able to travel in time to the present and get the new MIPS version.
Kali crash replacement is for one helmet. If you crash the replacement, they offer a discount on the next one though.
Thanks for clarifying that. Still a pretty sweet deal!
Down to Ride MTB it is,especially as most other manufacturers „only“ give you 50% discount if you crash.

Great comparison! I just picked up the IXS Trigger FF for this season and so far I'm super happy with it!
Still enjoying mine and use it for almost every ride I do unless I’m hitting really simple trails then I go for the open face helmet

Would love a Kali Invader V2 vs IXS Trigger FF MIPS comparison! Thanks for this video
Good idea! I’m going to see if either company is interested in sending samples.
I'd love a comparison of that too 👍
