- In this video, we are going see how we can practice coding on a cheap and old android tablet. We can compile and run programs in various programming languages such as java or c++ or python. This is useful when you want to practice coding on the go and don't want to carry heavy laptops all the time.

Hi, I loved your video but I'm having some trouble.
I have a Galaxy tab s7+ and I did all the steps up to launching Termux and pasting Ubuntu, once I click enter it does all the reading and at the end it says
"unable to locate package wget"
"Package ''has no installation candidate"
"Unable to locate package root"
Can some one tell me if I need to download the pkg or adjust some settings?

I used Samsung S7 FE. I have to install Termux from F-droid. Using the Play Store version doesn't work.

Hi Rajwardhan, it's not necessary to install linux. You can compile and run code in all major languages in termux itself. But this video is made for beginners. As per my experience, the termux method is a little bit more complicated, and I don't think will be a good idea for beginners.

Hi Gulab, to be honest, I wouldn't suggest any type of UI related programming on tablets because of the small screen size. But still, if you want to carry on, you can go with Samsung's tablets, they are pretty robust and have top of the line displays.

No, it's not required to do so. What I believe would have caused this is, you might not have got into the linux distro. Like after starting termux, you have to start the linux shell script. For example: ./start-ubuntu.sh. Then you can start using the programs installed.

When you create, edit and save a file, they are already saved. This is just like a normal linux system, it's just on top of android.
You can press escape then press w to save a file in vim. You can Google on how to use vim to edit and save files.
When you exit termux, the session is already saved. No need to do anything extra on that.

Python is a interpreted language and not a compiled language. It's not mandatory to compile a python script.

It's perfectly safe to install, don't worry. You're just creating a linux subsystem inside your android operating system. As long as you don't root your tablet, whatever happens inside, remains inside. Whenever you want to revert back, just clear the storage for termux and it will be like nothing ever happened.

There are videos on here that show it to be possible (I watched those and I then clicked on this video). I also have a Tab s7+ 5g. I'm going to try it out tomorrow.

To be honest, it's very difficult to understand which step you're on and whether linux has actually been installed on your machine or not. Could you try to re watch the video and try to follow the steps properly as you're watching ? Also make sure to have a look at all the other comments also incase you find something similar
