Gosh, my heart goes out to you guys. I cried when your mom cried. I completely know the feeling. In 2005 Hurricane Rita hit my home town and my neighborhood was unrecognizable when we returned. So much lost, just takes your breath away. Prayers for you guys and I hope that you guys can begin to heal and rebuild soon and create more beautiful memories. 🙏❤️🤗
We too have been going to Sanibel for 30 years plus. We absolutely cried to hear of this storm. We were there in August before the storm. So sad. We too will be back. We will give the island time to heal.
I'm glad your family is fine. Everything else could be replaced. It's terrible the destruction that this hurricane did. I have been in a category 5 hurricane, and what I see is so much worse than hurricane Andrew. So many people lost their lives not knowing that that hurricane was going to hit them. Thank you so much for keeping us informed.
Jack- Super job capturing the immensity of this disaster! I'm a Minnesota native with one foot at home and one in Southwest Florida. I chose a golf course over the beach, but absolutely love Sanibel and Captiva. You and your family made this so personal; such an emotional time. I'm sharing the video with my Florida friends; I know they'll appreciate it. Say hi to your Dad. I worked with him when he was part of Sen. Coleman's staff. Hang in there!
My heart knows the pain and anguish keeping ya'll in my Prayers. I'm from Joplin Missouri and we were destroyed May 22nd of 2011 from a EF-5 tornado. Our community came together with tons of volunteers from across America to get us up and running. What I'm saying is keep the faith & your heads up because beauty will come from the rubble. I pray blessings over you and yours, and whatever you do, do it with your whole heart ❤
Ah man I’m so sorry to hear that but I’m so glad to hear that the community all came together to rebuild. Things like this usually bring people together. Thank you so much for the prayers 🙏🏽
So sad. Thanks for sharing the destruction in its rawness rather than doctoring it in any way. All the best in dealing with the aftermath - in every way.
This is so sad for Sanibel. It has been a favorite place for so many people including my daughter, she was heartbroken. Hope to be able to return someday. Thanks for sharing this, really unbelievable to see. ☮️❤️
Broke my heart to see this. 😢. Hope you have a safe journey home with Tiny! (That was very funny to see your family laughing at the sight of it in the RV park! 😂 what a hoot!)
Thank you for sharing, my mom had a house on Captiva Island a quarter of a mile on the right 16861 Captiva Dr and my sister lived 1890 Farm Trail near Jerry's grocery store. I cried then when the storm went threw and now watching your video. For us that can't be there please keep making videos to keep us updated 🙏 praying for you guys to have the strength to clean up the mess. Good luck again thanks for sharing.
The destruction of a place that you loved so much growing up and that has meant so much to your family is truly painful. I hope you will all be able to return to Sanibel Island and create new memories and beautiful times together.
You were fortunate to have the memories that you did, and that have other dwellings. What a stark contrast of the before and after. My heart goes out to you.
Like you I’ve been visiting the island for over 40 years now,we also have a couple condos at the tip of captiva. I’ve spent some of my greatest days on these islands, created memory’s with friends and family.I am not a religious man but I believe those islands are as close to heaven on earth as your gonna get. All I can say is we will rebuild stronger and go again.Hugs to you and your family and the island from London,England.
I am from Manville , I understand what these poor people went through . I had so many people help and god does shine through when you think you are alone . ❤️
I'm the wife of Darren Tattersall from Uk who has commented a few times. He told me about your posts and I started to follow you. Seeing this utter devastation seeing this beautiful island flattened is heartbreaking. The people, the eco system, wildlife etc the loss must immeasurable.Where and how do you even start to rebuild? Sanibel has a special place in our hearts. I definitely got the 'Sanibel Stoop' collecting shells and sand dollars, which still take pride of place in my conservatory, and make a fab talking point. Please keep us posted on the progress if you can. It will remain my dream to go back there and hopefully get the stoop back again. 🇬🇧
Wow thank you so much for your message. It’s such a tough thing to see. I think they’re beginning to just bring utilities back and then one by one the structures will be updated as they clean up the debris. So sad. Thank you both for the support 🙏🏽
Gosh! I've lived in Florida my whole life... and seem to be just out of the way from any hurricane. It's so sad to see this for anyone to go through, after a hurricane...I hope you get the help you need, insurance, volunteers and donations. I volunteered after Hurricane Andrew cleaning up my nephews and brother-in-laws home and neighborhood. But I always felt so helpless. 😪 Prayers being lifted up for you and your family. 🙏🏼
Thank you sincerely for posting. With our then teenage children we spent a few Christmas holidays on this beautiful island and have so many special memories. It’s heartbreaking to see the reality of the destruction. This has made me want to return. Dublin Ireland
I just found your channel. Very informative and interesting! Thank you for documenting the tragic aftermath of the island, it’s the best footage I have seen on any channel or national news coverage. I’m so sorry for your loss and especially for the stress and pain it has caused your parents…thank you for sharing such a personal moment.
Crazy and sad. I have been to sanibel island twice. Very beautiful place and love the lighthouse. It will take time to rebuild definately. Stay positive and stay safe!
Have seen several of these now and it is so sad to see all you lost. Hopefully insured and hopefully the building is reconstructed so you can continue memories there! ❤
I am so sorry for the destruction of Hurricane Ian. I was on Sanibel in March while visiting my nieces who work on the island. We had dinner together & my husband & I stayed at a small inn on the beach. We had a wonderful time and have great memories from that evening with our family. Fortunately my nieces are ok, but is has been very, very stressful. So many things have changed so quickly. It is important to show the true state of the island and I loved how you inserted the before pics to show the difference. Finding the seahorse was so cool. You have a wonderful family & I know you will all work together to rebuild. 💛 #sanibelstrong
My heart is breaking💔 for your family and all those affected by this storm. They say time heals all wounds. I wish a pray 🙏 this for your family and all of Sanibel island. Happy trails 🤗🏕💕
So heartbreaking. This was such a magical place. This was my Mom's favorite vacation place on the planet . My husband and I fell in love with this place 7 yrs ago when we brought my Mom's ashes here to sprinkle in the ocean. I pray the Beauty of this place can be restored!
When y’all were driving in, seeing the “walls” of debris reminded me of how Rockport looked after Harvey. It will take years, but things will come back together again
i am rarely speechless, but this left me completly out of words hopefully it looks better today and hopefully you and your family will recover from all this
Wow, you're personal videos compared to now literally shows the devastation!!! Such a beautiful place, and I'm so sorry for you guys!!! I wish you a speedy recovery for your beautiful oasis, Sanibel Island!!!
My grandparents retired to FL in the 60's. They chose Port Charlotte over Sanibel because the island had no golf course. Both sides of my family located to Naples, Bonita Springs, and Ft Myers, close to the causeway. Sanibel and Captiva were my go to places. I love them. Yes, your Dad's response to your tiny cabin was hilarious. Thank you for sharing a brief view of the hit to Sanibel. Can't believe they repaired the causeway so fast. Big question : Captiva is further out in the water. No one is talking about it. Loved sunset walks in March on that beach. Did Captiva get hit equally hard? Great channel. Thank you.
Such a special place. I know Captive got hit just us hard but you’re right - they’re not talking about it as much for some reason. So glad you were able to watch. Thanks for the support 🙏🏽
My heart hurts for Sanibel, one of my absolute favorite places in Florida. Health quickly beautiful Sanibel and bless the residents that lost their homes.
We usually visit Sanibel every November and we’re due to be there now. So awful to see the extent of the devastation of such a beautiful place. I wish you well in your work to repair and rebuild. We will be back as soon as we are able.
We spent 3 months in one of the condos here when we first moved to Sanibel before our rental house was available. We moved from Sanibel for work last January, and planned on visiting then retiring there. Everyone of these I see, I am still shocked by the amount of devastation, and how long this will take to clean up.
Like you folks, we have been coming to Sanibel and Captiva since 1988, before we had our daughter. Our family of five has spent countless vacations there and I actually cried when I saw what you folks showed. Like you, I feel that this place is a second home for me. I am devastated for you, us, and all the others who feel that this is a timeless, magical place. Rebuilding is happening, I know, but I still feel like a tiny piece of my life has been destroyed.
My family (4 generations) have been staying at this very same condo since the 1980s - my heart is broken 💔 to see SP and Sanibel Island after the hurricane. Best of luck to you in your clean up efforts and I hope to return as soon as SP and Sanibel is rebuilt!❤
So sad see all the destruction. We stayed in your unit several years ago and we’re over in building 2 last Thanksgiving. Prayers for your rebuilding and for all of the southwest Florida areas affected by Ian.
So impact ful.... The finding of the seahorse & 🦎 restores hope, but the memories I can say just from observations is so gut wrenching to see.. I'm really quite surprised though that they allowed you access to the condo with the conditions etc.....I hope all is well structurally sound for to consider to rebuild which was once part of the dreams and so many treasurable memories this place holds for you and your family...I had to cry w/you, prayers for you & yours beyond just this moment but for the weeks ahead..... It's so hard especially with everything that it holds dear to you all....praying for the courage for everyone to have the strength to stay strong during this process.....only the greatest wishes for all at this moment in time....peace Always...glad you are safe......
Thank you so much 🙏🏽 Thankfully the structure was deemed safe and structurally sound, so that’s a big deal. It might take a little time, but it should be back in shape eventually
Wow it’s heartbreaking to see what happened there. Crazy seeing that whole roof lifted off it’s foundation and just sitting there. And all the vehicles just thrown everywhere. I can’t imagine anything like that even being possible. You have my prayers and love ❤ sent to your whole family. P.S.: Were you worried about someone just hooking up to your tiny cabin and driving away with it?
Ian was awful!!!! But you, dear folks, are part of the resilience known as SANIBEL ISLAND! You will be back! We will be back! Better days are coming!!! There are beautiful memories yet to be made. Stay safe. Stay strong!!!
Shocking video of the island I visited 20 years ago. Your reply to my last comment warned me of the devastating damage Ian had done but I was not expecting it to be on this scale. Will Sanibel ever recover? My Grandparents would visit Sanibel in the 1970s which was really unusual being from the UK this gave me the reason to visit. I still remember the Sanibel T-Shirts they would bring back with prints of shells on the front. I am more determined to return now but fear the Island may never get back on its feet properly. On a positive note your videos are great to watch keep up the good work. D.Tattersall . Scarborough UK.
It’s very shocking. So crazy to see what a mere few hours of wind and storm surge can do to completely change a place. Thankfully the island will recover in time…they’ve had storms like this before but not for many many years. So cool that you’ve got that connection to the island being from the UK. Thanks so much for watching.
I am a first time viewer to your channel and I just have to say the tiny cabin is cool and tiny home living is a great solution for these barrier islands. You can pack everything up you own, hitch up your home, and head to safety. Minimal cleanup on your property if there is nothing left behind and it saves so much debris from entering the ecosystem. I saw a whole house the size of a double wide trailer in Estero Bay on the news.
we have been going to Sanibel from Toronto for thirty years now , we are seniors and i doubt , given our ages that we will never see this paradise again , it is hard to watch this video through all my tears !
Your family laughing at your super cute RV that’s so small compared to those larger ones had me laughing so hard laughter is contagious ❤it’s all in good spirit. I live in florida this was so devastating so much damage. And loss of life. Blessed my area was ok we were supposed to take the hit before the storm turned at the lat minute.
Thank you for the video. I am so sorry for your family's loss of their condo. I live in NE FL and I get queasy every time a hurricane starts up and looks like it's going to hit the US. I have an incredible dislike for the storms. I know there is a purpose for them (not sure what it is), and that when people are involved, there are the 'hazards of geography.' Still, we all rally together and get through the destruction and smartly carry on. Thank you again. Peace and blessings to you all. Take care and stay safe! 😊💖🙏
I was born, raised, and still live in Miami. We used to take annual trips to Sanibel when I was a kid. Haven’t been there in over 20 years. That’s terrible to see. I have a lot of fond memories there. I especially loved collecting the beautiful shells that littered the beach. 😢
So heartbreaking. My son and I had just returned home from a wonderful vacation in Sanibel when hurricane Ian hit. It is devastating to see such a beautiful place destroyed. I pray for you and your family. I know there are many decisions to be made in the weeks and months ahead. It will take time but Sanibel will rebuild and be the beautiful peaceful place we all enjoy.
Just like the causeway being repaired Sanibel will also be repaired. Do not be sad about the destruction. Put things in perspective, you are able to hold those memories and will be building new ones. We have been going to Sanibel for 30 years as well. The Lighthouse Resort survived and will be repaired. The pool will be cleaned and the walls will be rebuilt.
Being in Santa Cruz, California we don’t have a feeling of the destructive force of hurricanes. We have had a devastating earthquake, floods and intense wild fires. The pain for all is the same. No one just bounces back but I hope the recovery for all affected is starting. And very weird to see the big red dot logo of Santa Cruz Skateboard clothes! I’m enjoying your videos…just found them when I saw you going to the Sand State Park in Minnesota. I have cousins there since my mom’s family immigrated there 1850-60. I hope to visit again next year.
Any destruction of home and memories is painful 🙏🏽 And I’m sure that was weird to see the Santa Cruz shirt haha. I lived in CA for 10 years and my wife is from the central coast. My sister still lives out there. Thanks so much for watching and supporting!
My wife and I were just married on Sanibel Island in May got engaged on Sanibel Island all at Sundial Beach Resort. This broke our hearts to see the devastating impact Ian caused but glad to see the community come together and begin rebuilding this lovely place. Curious where is your family's condo?
Don’t take this the wrong way, but when you said “we got to lock it” I was half expecting a bread bag twist tie to come out…. Just to set your family laughing again
Have they deemed the property safe to repair? This is the first time seeing Sanibel since the Hurricane so very devistating. Blessings to your family and so happy everyone was safe, when so many lost their lives.
Was thinking about you all. I found another FB post showing the street filled with appliances and what ever is left in the units. Looks like they are clearing out all the units to prepare to work on the roof. Not sure how long it will take, but we will be back when the complex reopens.
Just saw this video. I live in North Fort Myers and rode out Hurricane Ian. Winds were 140 mph where I live. Fortunately had only $600 worth of damage. It was catastrophic at the beach.
Thanks for sharing! I’ve been visiting Sanibel since 2008, and although I don’t own any property there it still breaks my heart😢! I was amazed at how quickly they repaired the causeway, hopefully you and your family are able to rebuild soon! How do the beaches look? Is the water still murky? Hugs from KS
The beach still looked a little rough. Tons of standing water and some debris. We were so impressed with the causeway as well! If that’s an indication of the speed of recovery, it’ll start getting back on track soon :)
This is an insane level of devastation. I remember vacationing here lots of times when I was young, it was a very lush and pretty place before Hurricane Ian. It's really mind boggling how devastated it still is a month after the storm. It doesn't even look like Sanibel anymore, more like Mariupol or some bombed out city in Ukraine.
The saltwater kills the vegetation, which makes it look even worse. Thank you for sharing...and showing how important it is to have each other. Love the cabin BTW :)
😳 whoa, that’s incredible. I lived there 36 years ago, worked at So Seas and Casa Ybel. I never seen anything like you shared😢 it’s going’s to be okay 🙏 already the vegetation is returning and wildlife. Keep us posted. Great share ❤
Seriously, the video you shared really got my attention 😵💫 ya know, we never evacuated back then. And nothing on No Captiva. It’s really changed. Prayer’s y’all record the restoration and what memories. ♥️ Keep the faith and island life alive 🏝 thanks 🙏
@@TinyCabinLife For sure 🙏 I’m in Alaska now since I vacated Florida. “Should I stay it should I go 🤔 Difficult question because I love Florida ♥️😎🏝 Breaks my heart. I visit frequently, but I have already witnessed a walk I water. I worked fir the state of Florida in Tourism. 18 hurricanes later I flew one way 😎✈️👍
I've lost my house due to a fire, but a hurricane is so much more devastating because it effects more then one family. 😔 I'm glad your parents are ok and hope many others are too.
Loved your Dad's laughter and geeez...could you and your brother sound more alike? I'm so sorry for all yall have gone through. How has the clean up gone? And how long have you and Riley been married now? Thanks for sharing. Blessings
My Dad laughs so hard all the time 😅 It’s great medicine for times like that. Cleanup is going well. So many businesses have reopened on the island and our place is getting repaired 🙏🏽🙏🏽
minimum 2 years before you are back in that condo and that is if the insurance don't screw yall or it gets dozed anyway, just went through this in Harvey, good luck, you are going to need it.
We have been taking our children to Sanibel for the past 31 years…we were just there in May. Your video is heartbreaking to see - everything looks so grey and dead. Did anything survive aside from the invasive iguana?
I can't imagine the pain this has caused after going to the island for 30 years! That had to be very unnerving to see and experience the carnage. I feel for all of the residents of SW Florida.
I understand clearly. In 2017 we were hit in the British Virgin Islands by Hurricane Irma. Total destruction just like this. We found out it was a category 7, not a 5 like they thought at first. So yes, I clearly understand your feelings. These storms are happening all over the world and so many people have been affected.
Our house flooded when I was in high school, bayou backed up, it sat for 2 or 3 weeks before we could go in. Truthfully we agreed, it would have been easier emotionally if it had all just been washed away. There is no way to explain picking thru the muck, dead fish, bugs, mold, the stench trying to find something to save
Gosh, my heart goes out to you guys. I cried when your mom cried. I completely know the feeling. In 2005 Hurricane Rita hit my home town and my neighborhood was unrecognizable when we returned. I loved your Dad's reaction to The Tiny Cabin. I watched it several times. His sweet laughter made laughter bubble up in me as well.
Aw that’s so awesome. He’s a really great guy. Thanks for watching :)
We too have been going to Sanibel for 30 years plus. We absolutely cried to hear of this storm. We were there in August before the storm. So sad. We too will be back. We will give the island time to heal.

My family (4 generations) have been staying at this very same condo since the 1980s - my heart is broken 💔 to see SP and Sanibel Island after the hurricane. Best of luck to you in your clean up efforts and I hope to return as soon as SP and Sanibel is rebuilt!❤
Aw so you know exactly how it feels 😥 Thank you so much. We’ll all be back eventually
God bless you all!
🙏🏽
So sad see all the destruction. We stayed in your unit several years ago and we’re over in building 2 last Thanksgiving. Prayers for your rebuilding and for all of the southwest Florida areas affected by Ian.
Wow so you’ve actually stayed in the unit. Amazing. We’ll certainly build back
So impact ful....
What a wonderful place ❤️. I visited Sanibel twice over the years. So sorry for your loss.
It’s really a special place 🙏🏽
Wow it’s heartbreaking to see what happened there. Crazy seeing that whole roof lifted off it’s foundation and just sitting there. And all the vehicles just thrown everywhere. I can’t imagine anything like that even being possible. You have my prayers and love ❤ sent to your whole family.
P.S.: Were you worried about someone just hooking up to your tiny cabin and driving away with it?
It really is shocking to see. Thank you for the prayers 🙏🏽 Thankfully the cabin has a hitch lock that stops people from being able to take it
Sending love. Living through Hugo in 1989 I still can feel that unexplainable feeling 🌺
Thank you 🙏🏽
it brings tears to my eyes !
😢
Ian was awful!!!! But you, dear folks, are part of the resilience known as SANIBEL ISLAND! You will be back! We will be back! Better days are coming!!! There are beautiful memories yet to be made. Stay safe. Stay strong!!!
Yes absolutely 🙏🏽 THANK YOU
Shocking video of the island I visited 20 years ago.
You know I’ve never thought about it that way. That’s a really good point 🙏🏽
Prayers for you and your family. May you, with the help of God, bring back this home and enjoy it again.
Thank you so much 🙏🏽
we have been going to Sanibel from Toronto for thirty years now , we are seniors and i doubt , given our ages that we will never see this paradise again , it is hard to watch this video through all my tears !
Ah man, that’s so tough to hear 😥
Your family laughing at your super cute RV that’s so small compared to those larger ones had me laughing so hard laughter is contagious ❤it’s all in good spirit. I live in florida this was so devastating so much damage. And loss of life. Blessed my area was ok we were supposed to take the hit before the storm turned at the lat minute.
It was pretty great seeing their reaction to the cabin 😂 Glad to hear that your area wasn’t hit hard
At least we still have our memories and some pictures
Agreed 🙏🏽
Thank you for the video. I am so sorry for your family's loss of their condo. I live in NE FL and I get queasy every time a hurricane starts up and looks like it's going to hit the US. I have an incredible dislike for the storms. I know there is a purpose for them (not sure what it is), and that when people are involved, there are the 'hazards of geography.' Still, we all rally together and get through the destruction and smartly carry on.
Thank you again. Peace and blessings to you all. Take care and stay safe! 😊💖🙏
PS: I always cry when I see a storm hit, and I still cry when I look at past images of the aftermath from these storms. 😢
Thanks so much 🙏🏽 I definitely shutter every time we hear of storms coming toward Florida’s and elsewhere. Scary stuff for sure
I was born, raised, and still live in Miami. We used to take annual trips to Sanibel when I was a kid. Haven’t been there in over 20 years. That’s terrible to see. I have a lot of fond memories there. I especially loved collecting the beautiful shells that littered the beach. 😢
It really was shocking to witness. It really is a special place
So glad that you just got out there before the storm 🙏🏽 it will come back. Just will take time
Beverly Clark You’re so lucky you got to be there before this nightmare. 😢💔
Absolutely 🙏🏽 It’s all about perspective
My family had a house on Captiva when I was growing up. Sanibel and Captiva hold special place in my heart. This is just devastating 😢 💔
I know… so very sad :(
Being in Santa Cruz, California we don’t have a feeling of the destructive force of hurricanes.
Sending Prayers❣🙏
Thank you so much 🙏🏽
I didn’t think I had any more tears left in me for Sanibel…until I saw your video. 😭💔
Aw I know…so incredibly sad
My wife and I were just married on Sanibel Island in May got engaged on Sanibel Island all at Sundial Beach Resort. This broke our hearts to see the devastating impact Ian caused but glad to see the community come together and begin rebuilding this lovely place. Curious where is your family's condo?
Wow so you were just looking there. We had our honeymoon there last year. Our condo is on West Gulf Drive. It’s called Sand Pointe
Don’t take this the wrong way, but when you said “we got to lock it” I was half expecting a bread bag twist tie to come out…. Just to set your family laughing again
Lollll that would have been funny
So sorry for all of the damage. So sad to see
Thank you 🙏🏽
Have they deemed the property safe to repair? This is the first time seeing Sanibel since the Hurricane so very devistating. Blessings to your family and so happy everyone was safe, when so many lost their lives.
Thank you 🙏🏽 they are going to repair thankfully
Was thinking about you all. I found another FB post showing the street filled with appliances and what ever is left in the units. Looks like they are clearing out all the units to prepare to work on the roof. Not sure how long it will take, but we will be back when the complex reopens.
Totally. It’s underway for sure. So happy to know that we’re on our way to getting it back in order
Growing up, we stayed at Sand Pointe every summer and we have continued the tradition with my children. Heartbreaking to see it now 😢
That’s the same with our family :( It will be back, but so very shocking to see it in that condition
Tiny home show hope to see you two there .
We’d love to go, where and when is it?
There is two of them one November 19 n 20 Siesta key and one in Jan Tampa fair ground FL
Just saw this video. I live in North Fort Myers and rode out Hurricane Ian. Winds were 140 mph where I live. Fortunately had only $600 worth of damage. It was catastrophic at the beach.
You need to do an update. I went through it, worked on Sanibel, lived on Fort Myers Beach, lost everything.
Right? So crazy to see
The saltwater kills the vegetation, which makes it look even worse. Thank you for sharing...and showing how important it is to have each other. Love the cabin BTW :)
Yes absolutely 🙏🏽 That’s the most important part. Thanks for watching
😳 whoa, that’s incredible. I lived there 36 years ago, worked at So Seas and Casa Ybel. I never seen anything like you shared😢 it’s going’s to be okay 🙏 already the vegetation is returning and wildlife. Keep us posted. Great share ❤
Absolutely. So cool that you lived and worked there. Little by little it will come back 🙏🏽
Seriously, the video you shared really got my attention 😵💫 ya know, we never evacuated back then. And nothing on No Captiva. It’s really changed. Prayer’s y’all record the restoration and what memories. ♥️ Keep the faith and island life alive 🏝 thanks 🙏
I’m glad that it touched you 🙂 We’ll make sure to share the journey and process of rebuilding
18 hurricanes later I flew one way 😎✈️👍
Witnessed a wall-of water 😳
Good luck with the recovery I know it’s hard I went through hurricane Andrew and it was tough
Thank you so much 🙏🏽
Words fail me to describe my sadness. I'm french from Québec the English language is not my mother tongue.
Be strong and help each other!
Thank you so much 🙏🏽 We will
I can relate - we have a condo there as well -devastating
I’m so sorry :/ very devastating
Remember the great moments, always. Nothing is forever.
Absolutely 🙏🏽
So devastating.
I live in Houston and yes we've seen it many times. Horrifying. It's part of the Gulf Coast Life. Hope it all gets taken care of soon!
Very tough indeed. I’m sure you’ve seen it many times. Thanks ❤️
Sorry for everyone’s loss.
Thank you so much 🙏🏽
I’m so sorry🙏
Thank you 🙏🏽
I've lost my house due to a fire, but a hurricane is so much more devastating because it effects more then one family. 😔 I'm glad your parents are ok and hope many others are too.
Thank you so much 🙏🏽 Anytime your personal memories and space gets destroyed or stolen or anything it is so hard
PS I love the seahorse survival!✨👏 ✨
😊👍🏽
I would try to refurnish whatever I can so you dont keep piling up more garbage to that mountain it will create the clean up
Totally 👍🏽
minimum 2 years before you are back in that condo and that is if the insurance don't screw yall or it gets dozed anyway, just went through this in Harvey, good luck, you are going to need it.
We’ll see. They’re predicting a year and a half
My grandma is at sand point too. She’s one of the units with the roof torn off, it’s just crushed her to see it.
Ah so sorry to hear that 😞
We have been taking our children to Sanibel for the past 31 years…we were just there in May. Your video is heartbreaking to see - everything looks so grey and dead. Did anything survive aside from the invasive iguana?
Very sad indeed. I just saw an article saying that the birds survived. Seems the animals are much more resilient
So sorry for you.
🙏🏽
Anyone heard about Pelicans Roost? My husband and I were there for our honeymoon. Nice place.
I actually haven’t. Is that on Sanibel?
@@TinyCabinLife Yes, at Donax St. and Middle Gulf Dr. Next to the Holiday Inn. I can't find anything other than closed due to hurricane.
Had to know it would happen sooner or later..
Thanks
So sad. We were reserved to stay on the Island a few weeks ago.
So sorry :( we were going to be there for Christmas
I can't imagine the pain this has caused after going to the island for 30 years! That had to be very unnerving to see and experience the carnage.
I feel for all of the residents of SW Florida.
I understand clearly. In 2017 we were hit in the British Virgin Islands by Hurricane Irma. Total destruction just like this. We found out it was a category 7, not a 5 like they thought at first. So yes, I clearly understand your feelings. These storms are happening all over the world and so many people have been affected.
So sorry to hear that you’ve been through that!
I feel your pain, we just moved to Sanibel in June of 2022. What's the best method to contact you?
Ah so sorry to hear that 🙏🏽
Our house flooded when I was in high school, bayou backed up, it sat for 2 or 3 weeks before we could go in. Truthfully we agreed, it would have been easier emotionally if it had all just been washed away. There is no way to explain picking thru the muck, dead fish, bugs, mold, the stench trying to find something to save
Ah man, so sorry to hear that. It’s so true. Seeing the tattered remains is really tough
I’m so sorry 😢
Thank you 🙏🏽
We lived on Sanibel too 😢
So sorry :(
Florida strong
🙏🏽
