    On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
    If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
    If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

      Holy crap, you made the sidearm a primary weapon.

    Fun fact: In old style rotary engines, the entire engine physically rotated with the prop, that gyroscope effect is why aircraft like the Dr.1 and the Camel were faster in a right hand turn. In a left turn the torque wants to pull the nose up, in a right turn it pulls the nose down.

      @cinedelasestrellas 2 года назад +8

      It’s also the cause of plenty of training accidents. You need a lot of opposite rudder, especially on takeoff, to counter the torque and gyroscopic effects of such a large mass rotating like that.

      well its not so much they "thought it up"... they did that in real life in WW1. planes were originally unarmed spotter planes, then the pilots and aircrew started taking small arms with them to fire at the enemy scout planes. The developers earlier title, Rise Of Flight had small arms in the cockpit implemented too. Its just about being as most a realistic sim as they can make.

A fragile slow aircraft, but it could shoot through the propeller arc. It dominated until the Allies got their hands on one and discovered the Germans had designed an interrupter that kept the machine gun from firing when the prop was in front. Then everyone started killing one another in various successful and unsuccessful designs. By the way, first parachutes were used by the observers in balloons.

    If you Google "Achim Engels Fokker Schorndorf" it's the guy who builds the finest German WW1 aircraft today including several in Peter Jackson's collection. He actually owns Tony Fokker's original Type certificates and legally builds continuation planes with Fokker tooling. He is part way through building a reproduction Fokker Werke factory to add to his small museum. One of those very hardcore original purists, he uses and builds only reproduction 1900-era hand tools - no power anything. He will spend a month just building a wing spar box with a hand plane and files - no sandpaper even. He only uses gas stick welding with period welders.

    My great-grandfather was a French fighter pilot in early WWI before forward-firing machine guns. This is what they did, shot at each other with rifles and pistols and tried to either kill the crew or damage the engine or radiator. There was a French book written about it called “Au Temps Des Carabines” (“In the Time of the Rifles”).

    As someone who was practically raised on WW1 Flight Sims and history: The reason why the Dr.1 has those turn characteristics is because of the spin of the radial engines! I'm not sure how it is modelled in this game but I've made it a tactic to cut the engine when I roll left so the torque doesn't kill the roll/turn rate. Especially good if you're against a live player who thinks "Oh I have you now/Oh I'm going to get away from you now!" only to get the nasty shock.

    The "Red" Baron was a true gentleman and the founder of a lot of air combat maneuvering tactics. Pulling a pistol on you adversaries was like, WTF? Then you shooting it at long range was like, how would that even hit? Its a 9mm Parabellum. Then you learned to shoot it at danger close range and it became, may I say? Immersive AF. Well done you glorious bastard! 😉

    • @Bad_Wolf_Media
      @Bad_Wolf_Media 2 года назад +15

      The Red Baron was NOT a "True Gentleman" in any respect. He almost single-handedly invented "pack hunting," using full squadrons to go after fewer planes, and when he selected targets, he picked bigger, slower targets to get easier kills. He admitted in wring that he would aim for the heads of pilots, or - if there was one - the gunner or observer first, to get more kills. He was also known to specifically target fuel tanks to set planes on fire, burning pilots alive.
      There's nothing at all glorious about war, and Von Richtofen was one of the best at his job. But his job, and the way he did it, was absolutely brutal. There was nothing ever gentlemanly about him.

    Pretty awesome! When I get home I will have to invest in a new video card and a headset. Suffering from really bad sim withdrawal symptoms at the moment, it's been nearly a year!

    Lmao Im glad this isn't real life because aiming like that especially with a pistol you're gonna be yards off 🤣 not even aiming down the sights and pointing up slightly lol but you pull off some great shots so wouldn't surprise me lol keep em coming

    The turning better one way or another was prop an engine torque as most ww1 stuff had rotory engines that span with the prop do made it harder to turn that way....it's like going full power on take off in something like a Griffin spit it flips over from the torque. It's quite challenging on full SIM mode with torque stalls an flutter on
