I remember doing this prior to joinng the Army way back in 1976, but the Original route went down the side of the Pub in Edale then up a stream (Grindle Brook) to Reach Kinder Downfall. Twelve days to complete it all the way to Kirk Yetholme. Loved it and I wish I could do it again now, sadly my hiking days are long gone now I am rapidly approaching my 68Th Birthday. Second idea would be to hike a 2 or 3 week section of the Sierra's.
