    Thank you for the video! Followed your tips and successfully replaced my driver door actuator. The key to not breaking the plastic is to tape off the rocker panel paint and use three screwdrivers. One on each side of the metal clip to pry it up until the metal clip stops the plastic from coming out. Then use a third flat tip to press AS LOW A POSSIBLE on the metal tab. Then use your other hand to lift up on the inside of the plastic by the carpet. It will pop out.

    Thanks so much for this video. You give just the right amount of detail to make this repair smooth. Same part from the eBay seller arrived fast and took about 30mins total to get the job done on my 2010 C6 base convertible.

    I actually ordered my actuator from the same seller and came with a return label for my old part, as mentioned in the video above the refurbished one does not come with that clip so you have to use the one from your old one but I installed in about 30mins and works awesome.

    Following your video I replaced my actuator on my 2005 Convertible yesterday. Thanks for your help. I would just recommend that before starting, buy the tools to remove the plastic door trim, they are cheap and work perfect. Also you didn't show the removal of the third trim piece that is the top piece the seat belt runs through. This was the most difficult to remove because the clip is not plastic, it is the metal elongated type and can't be reached with normal needle nose pliers through the access panel. Mine broke off and I was able to super glue it back on and it is working fine but this was the only difficult part of the repair. I am assuming there is a tool for these clips, I will be looking for one. Again thanks for the video it helped me a lot.

    Very useful in replacing mine. However more detail regarding putting cover on without cables detaching would be helpful. Spent allot of time getting cover on correctly. It was difficult to get front catch seated correctly without cables detaching. Finally succeeded. Used eBay link to get replacement which came quickly. Thanks

    Just bought less than a week and Same car..........same problem, however the latch at bottom inside of door will open door but the cable will not, have taken apart and cleaned the top opener (but that was pretty clean and inside door opener seems ok, making noise, just will not open door). So, it must be that freaking actuator, can't be anything else. I wrote down the link (Thank You). Was Hot here today and car was in Sun and that is where it direct sun. And my prediction to get this repaired at a shop $500 was my thought, and after watching this seems about right. Will let you know the outcome.

    Hi, Diesel, I am a 30 yr lady owner/driver of corvettes. My current version is a 2007 C6 corvette. For the last 15 months, my driver side door lock has had increasing problems in opening. It mimics this video of yours but I have had a lot of trouble trying to find a repitable repair shop to fix it. My local dealer wants to charge me $450 for the part plus 2 hrs @$279/hr!* My local mechanic (who is honest) thinks it might be a problem with the computer itself in the car rather than the acutuator. Can the computer angle be rulled out?
    Basically the symptons include the following: When on the outside, I have to click the fob several times before the door opens (I can hear the same noise you described as the door tries to open). After I am in the car, the window often continues to "index" several times; and it may in fact kick the door open and the window does not close completely for a few minutes. When inside and trying to get out, the door sometimes opens normally when I continue to run the motor. Other times it does nothing and I have to use the manual lever on the side. (There is a separate issue wherein the side mirrors drop as soon as the engine is turned off. So I don't know if that is relevant or if it suggests some kind of "electrical" problem that could be linked with the door not opening. I would really appreciate any thoughts you have. Best, Joan

      It’s hard to say. It could be a computer issue but I always like to rule out the small/inexpensive issues first when possible. The actuator is not costly at all and somewhat easy to replace so you may want to start there and if that doesn’t fix it, try replacing the fob batteries since the fob is needed for the car to function, then last resort try to go to a dealer or mechanic to test the computer.

    Will the window index from the inside and outside switch? And my latch will rarely open the door, so the actuator will be my issue too?

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  Год назад

      Not sure, but being they don’t cost that much to replace, I’d try replacing them first. Otherwise, could be a battery issue or electrical issue.

    Should I be concerned about vendors statement, "excluding vehicles with AU8 system." ?
    I've researched what this means but don't know how/if it applies to my C6.

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  2 года назад

      I honestly don’t remember how I went about this a year ago when I had my C6 but I think if you look in the glove box area there is a label list of codes. If the code AU8 is listed on the label, you may have to email the seller as there may be a different part. In my case it was not an issue but this code may be for the Z06?

      Future reference guys don’t slam your doors. The motor gets shakes out of its gears is what seems to be the problem with these actuators.

  • @guygourley2411
    @guygourley2411 2 года назад

    Not sure why you slammed your trunk as it has a self seal the last quarter inch or so. Just pressing it down to almost closed and then the trunk will close the remainder by itself. Of course, you can just do as you did. ;) BTW, thanks for the info, I'm starting to have some issues with my door not unlocking, but only from the inside. Not the button switch, it's been changed, but seems to be the latch itself.
