As drones become more popular, such service employees will need to learn some more. They are not familiar with drones it seems. They assume (or presume) too much about how loud a drone is, how low it flies, and so on. Based on that their standard response about animal welfare was right.
It’s the BS that makes me laugh. The only thing you are interested in is winding people up and making videos for money. It’s got feck all to do with rights or drones or getting the footage because you could easily just do that. Also there’s absolutely no way you are doing that legally ie you cannot see the drones orientation from where you were flying. It’s going to happen the laws will be changed so all the normal drone flyers will be punished too.

I once parked my HGV in the zoo car park as I had a delivery booked at a local shop the following morning and there was nowhere else to park. The security came and asked why I was parked there and told me that I shouldn't be. I apologised and explained my situation, he was friendly and said he'd allow it. Amazing where some manners gets you.

I'm with the receptionists on this one. They were getting frustrated because they're just trying to do their job, and you've just turned up out of the blue expecting to fly your drone over their enclosures without any prior notice. They told you it's not permitted, but you refused to accept that and made a scene. If it was so important for you to do that filming, and you had to travel a long way to get there, why didn't you arrange it in advance? This smacks of you trying to trigger people just to get youtube footage.

They have a very genuine concern for the animals welfare. Animals are often spooked by new/unusual sounds. Born in captivity they quickly learn to ignore the regular planes that fly in predictable patterns. A drone moves more similarly to a bird of prey for example with quick changes of direction. Prey animals such as meerkats could become extremely stressed but this potential "predator" flying above their enclosure
The hypocrisy of a zoo, who primarily focused on profit, is concerned about animal welfare.

They have a very genuine concern for the animals welfare.
Animals are often spooked by new/unusual sounds. Born in captivity they quickly learn to ignore the regular planes that fly in predictable patterns. A drone moves more similarly to a bird of prey for example with quick changes of direction. Prey animals such as meerkats could become extremely stressed but this potential "predator" flying above their enclosure
