The moment a top-fuel hydro gets up on a plane and takes a set, when you hear the revs drop as the props get a deep bite, that initial launch is the most violent, physics warping moment in all of Motorsport! The great Eddie Hill, the only man to win championships in top fuel boats AND dragsters, and who is also the first man alive to break into the four-second bracket in the quarter mile once said “nothing accelerates as hard as my boat!” But I think he was wrong. I think the boat stands still while the earth rotates underneath it!
How fast could a top fuel boat go if it wasn't limited to 1000 feet? I know the engine would be destroyed shortly after a quarter mile, but just curious. I'm guessing these type of boats have the fastest trap speed of any race boat.

sorry to say but its a dying sport, extremely expensive no money in it. I just don't think that there is a whole lot of interest there with spectators and sponsors . I mean I raced drag boats back in the 90s and the same guy is still announcing ! not a good career choice.

Awesome only the earth is motionless and a flat plane. Water is the best proof of this, it will always be perfectly flat.
