Happy Anniversary! I love your inspo videos so much. I will admit that i have a strong love for the old intro (everything about it: the wobbly "still" video of the sewing machine art print, the music) and its Mr Rogers-for-grownups vibe and will miss it greatly. Change is terrible :D etc, etc.
on the large sheer pattern front, i saw a charming embroidered sheer (now sold out at Mood) that was large daisy shapes, white on white outline, but with the flower center satin stitched in yellow, and i thought it would be so fun as an overdress with different colored underdresses so the daisies would take on the color underneath but still have the yellow center. It was $$ but nice to think about!
Thanks for a new video, i love the shapes and patterns you covered--very inspiring as always!

thank you so much, I did love that old intro I was going for a "fractured fairytales" vibe but "Mr. Rogers" works too 😂 I'm headed to NY in September and will definitely be checking out Mood so I hope I find something like you described 🤞

Cute changes, although I'll miss the old intro. Never mind, I'll just rewatch an older video every once in a while. 😉 Your inspiration video turned out really well, too. Congratulations on your fourth!
I've had some success with using freezer paper for stencils, but I'm not sure they still sell it. That SARDINES dress is incredible. Love it.

Block printing using craft foam sheets - you can get the foam sheets from any craft store. Sometimes you can find thick sheets, 3/8” should work. (Or, if you have a block pattern you want to use, use the foam sheet on the base, under the fabric- to cause the print into a cushion to make the pattern print fully to the fabric- just use in reverse as you want a cushy layer to make the pattern make contact with the fabric) hope that makes sense? You may need to glue thinner sheets of the foam together to make the printable pattern thick enough for the print block and to keep your fingers out of the paint medium. Decide on your pattern and cut out the pattern to print and glue to some kind of base material, a scrap block of wood. Use fabric dye paint according to that product directions to allow to dry and then set the dye/paint to the fabric. Setting the printed pattern varies by brand. The types I’ve used I’ve needed to set with heat of an iron after the paint fabric paint dried. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey I don’t know if you’ve ever tried stenciling with freezer paper? You cut the design into freezer paper, iron the freezer paper onto your fabric, carefully pounce the paint onto the design and bob’s your uncle. I’ve had luck with that, but it takes a few practice tries to get the paint consistency right. It can’t be too fluid, or it will seep out from your design.

Hi Gini 😁Happy 4 yrs of vlogging! 🎉 I loved the jazz music of your old intro but your new intro is bright, fun and has a retro feel. Today’s video reminds me of a couple of my favourite patterns: Marcy Tilton‘s Vogue 8499 has pants that I love and have made many times plus a cool skirt. Another favourite pattern is simplicity 8886 the “big pocket” skirt. Funny you should be talking about painting or stencilling, that’s going to be my next project before my next show in September. Congratulations on your 4 years of great content. I always find your videos so informative and inspiring. Also, I like the new intro and format. A pattern with large slouchy pockets is Vogue 8975, a Marcy Tilton pattern. I have not made it and the pattern is still available. As to painting on fabric, I recommend a book by Sarah Campbell, "Hand-Painted Textiles, a Practical Guide to the Art of Painting on Fabric." I found out about Sarah Campbell through Linda Lee at The Sewing Workshop. The book is recent (copyright 2023). Last comment: I also made The Sewing Workshop's Metro Skirt. @gracevaughn8132 Месяц назад +1

@@thebigsewalong yes, I’ve used PROfab opaque paint. Available from pro chemical & dye. This particular paint works with most fiber types including polyester. Google Use directions for this product for all the different uses including heat setting options. Be careful you do not use a transparent paint or dye, as that will color the fabric, but will not be as vibrant after washing or use. Let me know if you have questions!
