- KFC in India is not like KFC around the world! The chicken and fries simply taste different. So I went out to compare the differences between KFC in India and KFC overseas in my home country of New Zealand.
Indian KFC is like a chilli bomb. They simply don't sell the secret recipe 11 herbs and spices fried chicken like KFC does around the rest of the world. They're stuck with hot & spicy only. I barely eat at KFC because of this. I'm used to the secret recipe chicken.
My wife opinion on KFC in India is totally different from mine. She loves it. She's used to hot & spicy and doesn't like the secret recipe chicken. It's probably just what we've both grown up with and are used to.

I know how it is. My parents went to Delhi and they got McDonald's (they wanted to see what it was like). They bought some not only for themselves but also for their taxi driver who had driven them around all day, so they treated him with it. He was shocked that they got it for him because he stated that it was too expensive for him to afford.

I 100% agree to your wife's opinion. I believe its how we were raised. I Had my first fried chicken experience at KFC in india (ahmedabad) and it was amazing! Coming to Canada i just couldn't match their taste, india was way better. Also, mine didn't look like the one that you showed in video; maybe a restaurant issue? I've read once, forget where or when about the start of the "crispy" type of KFC product you had in India (same kind you can find in Malaysia and Indonesia) and widely popular in fact it beat the sales of the "original" recipe that usually also available as an option and it started here in Indonesia. It was a battle between KFC and McD who created their "crispy" version of fried chicken (which is kinda good imo). Do you know that McD have their own fried chicken recipe?

Fun fact: KFC India also introduced the original recipe as "American style" a few years back, but it didn't really work in the Indian market

@@thayyibsiraj2615 in the beginning of the 2000s they used to call it "original flavor" that had the famous 13 herbs, other option being "hot & crispy". Both were priced same. Perhaps the former didn't work, so they scraped that and later introduced the "hot & fiery"
They serve both original and extra crispy here in the states. I prefer extra crispy because the original is too spicy for me.
I think that the REAL SECRET of KFC.....is not the "13 herbs and spices" as advertised.....it is the cooking method using a Pressure Cooker/ Deep fryer to combine the flavor of crispy deep fried surface and the soft tenderness of Pressure Cooked meat that "falls off the bone"..... that is the real thing that all people want and appreciate and will pay for.

There are 2 recipes for KFC, original & extra crispy. The New Zealand chicken he showed is original. The Indian is extra crispy. In the USA, we have both. For decades, KFC had abandoned the original for extra crispy because that's what Americans wanted. Sometime in the late 80's or early 90's, they brought back the original. In the Deep South, people like their chicken deep fried not baked.

Imagine a crispy spicy version of KFC with added secret recipe spices. That would be the best of both worlds.
The point of the secret recipe spices is that they are right as is, neglecting a spice or adding one would take away from it. Restaurants know the most important thing is to cater to local tastes. Combining the two doesn't make something better, it makes something neither group is really happy with

We have that in South America, it’s called “crispy” and has the spices and some added chilli with the hard crispy exterior, I actually don’t like it lol, that crust tends to soak too much oil and reduces the original flavour of the spices
