I used a c notched retention clip and a washer with a center part that can compress, like a spring.all came in a retention clip kit.its solid and no more plastic.
The switch has to be installed at an angle. You slip the switch assembly over the rod where the vinyl covering isn't there, push it in (against the spring load), then it slides on just fine. Just went thru this with my son's truck.
Yep love my ranger had a few explorer ranger same platform basically small differences Yep done same thing easy fix although not recommended but have bypass the switch as well I drive it till it goes to salvage yard and I'm old school drove standards my whole life before those switches ever were thought of but great video on that well done.
The Motorcraft unit comes with the clutch position switch and the rod with bushing. I found it online for $43.XX. I generally stay away from the aftermarket parts.
QUESTION: 93 Ford Ranger Ran fine no issues then I held in the clutch and revved the engine slightly and I mean just a little, nothing silly just before I went over some fairly smooth rail road tracks at a crossing.. Afterwards, it would not go back into gear. now it runs and drives, but will only shift gears with engine off. Any ideas anyone?
clarification: the clutch works normally as far as resistance on the pedal, it actually does work as a clutch even, although it seems like it might be a little "maladjusted" now, like when you let it out its not all the way out
Why don’t they make them out of metal I don’t get it I have replaced it twice already I’m about to drill a hole on the boll where the bushing goes and put a pin on it so it don’t come out no more
Solid vid - not many vids about this out there
