NBA season just started and players are load managing

- NBA season is back, and so is the load management. The league said it would enforce "STRICT" rules to curb it, but thus far, it looks the same as any other season. How can the NBA expect fans to care when the stars sit out nearly half the games. The NBA playoffs are all that matter, but in the long term, they won't even matter as the amount of money players make nowadays outstrips the importance of a chip. The NBA is making so much money that until the bottom line gets affected, this issue won't be properly addressed anytime soon.

@@revan5293You like beef or porkchop lil bro, what typa meat you want from him

Not gone cap true
Those are painful but somehow women athletes never seem to complain about them. And they don’t sit out either.
"Full-Time dollars, overtime included, for part-time performance." Is hilarious and can apply to so many players lmao. That's quality meme material right there.
when I heard that Kyrie came to my mind during that whole vaccine situation lmao
It's honestly sad man Remember back in the day players used to play every game almost now players are out left and right not wanting to play and its all the NBA's fault they allowed this to happen now there paying the consequences
I’m load managing being a nba fan nowadays.😂 nba players somehow are getting more trash
They are set for life they dont give a fuck about playing a ball game. They gave em too much money.
@@ComicXanzI don’t watch nba on tv only local 76ers network I watch games on laptop on illegal steaming sites don’t give them the ratings make it really hurt
@@punabuddas818exactly the guaranteed contracts are the problem. Obviously I get it from the player’s perspective and am happy they get generational wealth but if you give any normal 9-5 employee a fully guaranteed salary regardless of how often they show up watch how much more frequently they become “sick”…..
@@punabuddas818yeah..... winning and the passion for the sport comes 2nd nowdays.
It's sad really
“Zion is basically working from home.” 😂😂😂
What is crazy is the NBA is not a grueling league physically. Contact is basically against the rules, and the time outs, fouls, out of bounds and commercials stop the game every 2-3 minutes at most.
They “play” 36 minutes but with 10-12 breaks in those minutes, the game goes on for two hours and they only travel on average 2.5 miles in that time.
It is almost the same with any athletic activity if you don't consistently do it, take time off, and then try to ramp up to 100%...you are going to hurt yourself. Load managing really isn't prolonging anything. Kawhi has played 264 less games than bad back Larry Bird and Larry was only in the NBA for 2 more season than Kawhi currently and only played 6 games in 88-89. It is just prolonging that check cause they ain't playing more games.
Difference being he had a doctor cert..
That's the problem teams rest players so they get healthy which is fine. The main issue with that is they'll go from a night off to playing nearly 40 minutes the next day. The reason it worked for the spurs is cus their "load management" was minutes based. 39 yo duncan played 77 games as the anchor of a championship defense. For all the talk about LeBron's longevity he cant even get to 60 games consistently anymore
Difference is getting another max contract. We are talking about almost double the money in a single season than what Bird made in his entire career. So yeah, players today have all the incentive to try prolong their careers as much as possible and care less about accomplishments and winning. Or even playing.
Tbf we’d all perform better if supplied with baddies
True 😂
I wish Zach,Demar, and Vooch would Load manage for the rest of the season!!
Kobe and MJ understood people came for them and wanted to put on a show. Hopefully Wemby will be following those footsteps.
Lebron the last of that old guard of players playing thru injury. Also Wemby def gonna get hurt man he’s too tall. Once you hit over 7’0 your body just starts breaking down severely. Hopefully he’s just fantastic when he palsy to offset it.
@@kiryukazuma8229 yea I hope so the kid has a lot of potential and has the drive to be great. It’s just about putting the right pieces around him.
it’s easy to not want to show up for work when they’ve paid you already lol
When this stipulation was initially instituted I was already incredulous on if Silver would possess the fortitude to enforce this policy. As much as I despised David Stern for not giving Kobe Chris Paul for "basketball reasons" he would have never allowed the nonsense we see transpiring today. Jordan played all 82 games including playoffs a staggering 9 times whilst being the best player in the league for most of them. That's just something I don't believe we'll see again.
Not just the game count, Jordan played both ends. These guys will sit out all the time, and then half ass when they do play.
@smoothjulio337 I agree. That's why even though Kobe is my favorite player. Objectively, Jordan has always been the GOAT, and in my opinion, it has never really been a debate. The only perimeter player in history to average over 30+ points a game could lead the league in scoring whilst simultaneously being one of the greatest defenders and did so with consistency. Jordan was almost mythological. I wouldn't believe in half the things he did if footage of it didn't exist of it.
At this point, just shorten the damn season to about 50 games. Really, it’s better than this load management BS. “Ow, I stubbed my toe, so I’m out for the entire season!” 🤕
Then they’d only play 30 games a season
Why would you do that, they would just play 30 games anyway, and if you cut the season this means you cut the salary big time and I don't think they want that to happen, just grow up and be men!
How about add two teams to make a 32 team league, and have them play 64 games in a season.
One game vs each team in the other conference (16 after expansion)
Four games vs each “division” opponent (12 games)
Three games vs each team in your conference but not division (36 games)
@@fortynights1513 76 games would honestly be better. It doesn't make the season shorter relatively and you can even out the schedule better.
why are they so lazy bro? they get paid millions of dollars to not even play the sport they get paid for. i understand serious injuries but a majority of “load management” injuries are not worthy of a sit. enough with the tomfoolery nba
You just answered your own question. They get paid millions of dollars 😂
@@jamestribie3387 why don't they just make something like 20 million dollar bonus for everyone playing all 82 games?
Bro I know you’re going through a lot, but your content is amazing. The fact that you already have 20k subs… you going places my guy keep it up
Appreciate you for this, man. I'll keep at it and try not to falter
So happy you made this video all that talk in the off-season about actually making these guys earn a paycheck and nothing has changed it wont change take away guaranteed contracts and it will change
Regarding the issues on Load Management, I wanted to give Adam Silver the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, it's another case of "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice; shame on me."
Most players nowadays aren’t injured, they’re sore.
NBA should have an official medical staff that would tell how the players were doing. They really need to investigate some shady injury time and have a punishment, and I mean a REAL punishment for all teams that fakes injuries. I don't believe they are injured most of the time. This x player drops 40 and then is injured the next game. Like frickin how?
Like i said before KD + Brooker + Beal wont play more than 40 games together. During playoffs only 1 of them will be fully healthy.
Players pre 1990's weren't as bad a missing time like these players.
Even into early 2000s. 40 yr old MJ played 82 games at 37 mpg.
If they shorten the season wouldn't they have to shorten salaries?
I don't think the players would like that....
I completely agree with you. These guys have to get into the rhythm of the season and then they will get used to it. Also! Just play less minutes. At least show up.
Then real issue is the organisations enabling the softness, not an easy fix. 😬
The only viable fix maybe to introduce a contractural reduced pay per amount of missed games/minutes clause for the [all-]star players. Basically salary vs hourly or commission.
Hard to dictate people playing, hard to argue against an “injury” it’s a culture thing league wide from management to medical staff to coaching staff to players, that’s why the recent tweaks to awards tied to games played haven’t made a difference, the change can’t come from a rules/ dictated stand point, the change just has to come from everyone involved it’s a mentality and mindset, nba turned these guys into hypochondriacs any little bump or bruise is reason to sit out
Nah, I kinda agree. When a season is 82 games, any given game loses all meaning. A shorter season would put more value on each specific game played.
Do NOT think this is me supporting load management. I just think the NBA season is too drawn out.
They sometimes have 10+ games on a night. Drop that to 4-6 and I can actually watch them all and they’ll mean more for standings.
Double edge sword, you shorten the season, and guys are going to figure out a way to still play less games
@@jkashdamoneyman5870 sure, but that’ll be guaranteed to have more impact on their standings for playoffs if they do sit out. That’s why injuries in the NFL are so impactful. With 17 games, every single win matters. (To be clear, not saying we do down to 20 something games, but less games makes each individual game more meaningful)
The games are boring and players today are trash. No defense and everyone has the greenlight to shoot the 3. Everyone game looks the same. A shorter session with the same trash is going to be the same problem
@@Bonobo_JoJo Funny, because the NHL doesn't have this problem.
@@ckingtruth sounds like you just don’t like the NBA…which is okay. Don’t watch something you dislike. Watch college (far better for what it sounds like you’re looking for).
I agree to an extent, but it’s not going to change so complaining about it on YT accomplishes nothing
It's amazing how, with all the advancments in medicine, nutrition, and training, that these professionals can't even start the season healthy enough to play every day. Wtf are they doing all off-season? Unless you had major surgery you should be able tobstart the year healthy and play every day.
Beal with that mysterious back injury, I wonder if Dwight Howard's back in DC.
Sitting out causes injuries anyone who has played sports knows about being in game shape. Load management is laziness and counter productive.
If you want to look into injuries I would look for information about osteoblasts and osteocytes and how the more active you are the more productive they are and help in recovery.
Love the videos, bud. Congrats on 20,600. Go Pistons.
Almost every team makes the playoffs. There's no need to play in the regular season.
Load management became a thing around the Tail end of Tim Duncan's career around 34. This helped his game and pushed him to play until 40. Also he won one more chip. Both Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili.
It works with an aging star but load management on a young guy in their prime years will actually shorten their career or not love the game as much for a pay check. It the NBA did shorten the season would players also take a cut on their pay? 😂
These young guys have it great right now.
You can tell the players have no respect for Adam Silver and Silver just bends over and take from these players. As i've always said..."Stern would never."
How can the NBA actually prove if a player doesn’t need load management? Accusing a guy of malingering might look bad. There are many types of injuries for which there is no test to prove or disprove it. Soft tissue injuries and concussion, for example.
Hamstrings are a perfect example of such soft-tissue issues. They can be tricky and linger for an extended period of time depending on the severity of the initial injury.
@@kokoro_gospel yes, exactly!
I’m answering my own question here, because I just looked it up a few days after this video. CBS has a Sept 2023 article that says “the criteria is simple: if you’ve been named to an All-Star team, or an all NBA team in the previous three seasons, you’re a star.“ Being a “star” gives 49 players the right to load manage and of course the list includes European raised players.
First of all congratulations on the BIG 20k my boy! 🎉I have been here since 5k subs! Congratulations on your growth and success
Dudes in the NBA be softer than than the WNBA
I do wonder if high salary players and players just making a lot of money has exacerbated the load management. The more expensive a player salary gets, the more teams want to manage their minutes in order to keep them healthy.
Happy to see you reach your goals big dawg 20k let's get it
Kawhi and Pg been playing every game no excuses for everybody else
If you can’t play 85% of the time, you should be eligible for a max contract. They can only get a MAX of 85 percent of a max contract:
Bro I always look forward to your uploads, congrats on 20k too homie🥳🥳 love and appreciate the grind, you be making my ass laugh so fucking hard every damn video lmao, keep up the vids commissioner🫡
update the contract so they get paid based on the games/min played
Nah mamba mentality got him 5 rings that's what Kobe lived for, it was basketball RIP Kobe and Gigi
Happy 20k subs!!!
Thank you very much! Making a video to celebrate you all and thank you for lifting me up
When a player actually shows up for all 82 games, it's a subject for amazement.
Looney has done that, for Golden State. No, he isn't an all-star, but fans love the guy. It's particularly noteworthy in his case because much of his early career was spent in a wheelchair. Hip surgeries. He still has an awkward gait, but he suits up and gets out there and puts in the work.
The two things I can't stand in a player are drama and load management. Oh, add a third: lack of effort. (I'm looking at you, LeBron.)
There is a popular belief among NBA players that when the playoffs come around, they can find a 'second gear' and win, that all of that regular season rest will pay off when it counts. Does it work?
Jimmy Butler thinks so. He can't be bothered to carry his team in the regular season.
Playoff P thinks so. Paul George is a second gear player. So is his silent sidekick Kawhi Leonard, though we have to suspect some awful physical ailment torments that guy. We don't know what it costs him to suit up. Might not be easy at all.
Well, retire, then.
Fans paying hundreds of dollars to see stars play, and they don't? That's cheating fans.
Too many games. We all know that's true. But money drives that decision, and all of the fallout from it. It's just greed.
When fans stop rewarding it, it'll change. Not until then.
As for the rule change disqualifying players from awards who miss too many games? Window dressing. Somebody will get awards and will be lionized for them. It hardly matters who.
You know I'll be managing my load this month.
Ha I see what you did there
having the GSW lineup change just because klays balls itch is starting to piss me off
Remember when Curry had to take a small deal cause of the ankle injuries?? why teams dont that anymore with fragile players like Zion and AD...
And that small deal proved to be a hell of a bargain for the Warriors. But I remember when people thought they overpaid for Steph with that rookie extension in 2012 (5 years, $40 million), and that was chalked up mainly due to the ankle injuries.
It was tough seeing those last years of Kobe because he was so beat up and old. Also because Lakers were rebuilding at that point.
Just start paying these guys on a per game basis. They want the full contract, play the full schedule, every game off reduces their pay. Will fix this 'load management' shit overnight
Load Management was UNHEARD OF !!!
Back in the days.
Don't ever tell me that the athletes are stronger and better today than before.
These Players are weak minded.
The players union should be calling all these guys up about missing games. Salaries cant keep going up if viewership and attendence starts going down. And ill take it a step further, tv networks are gonna look to drop games or request to pay less for access rights.
I dove how so many nfl players manage to play 17 games but nba players cant seem to play a few games in a row of a non contact sport.
Shaedon Sharpe #17 can sky.
Yeah, he got some hops for sure. He's one of the reasons why this Portland rebuild sounds very exciting, besides Scoot and Anfernee. As an aside, Malcolm Brogdon's been BIG BALLIN' to start the season as well.
This ESPECIALLY sucks if you happen to live in a town like I don’t know…Detroit? The best players won’t show up because why try against a young rebuilding team when it’s also not a massive market? Like even if you aren’t a fan of whatever small market team you live by it still hurts you since your favorite players will likely be “injured” just about every time they come to your city.
"The season needs to be shortened! It's a slog! It drags on!"
Baseball fans, everywhere: "Look at these _children."_
So embarrassing for the league. Bron out here playing every game so far but Beal, Irving, Jimmy and others already missed multiple games. Sad asl man
I don’t think the expansion of the playoffs has helped the load management problem, but I don’t watch basketball, maybe one of you can correct me
Just shorten it to 72 games a season. 10 games less without back to backs would be fine. They can try it for a season or two and always go back. Another intresting idea thats probably gunna ruffle some feathers. Allstar nominees MUST met a certain games played requirement to be considered an Allstar. Example if there is 52 games played and a player didn't atleast play in 38 games; they can't be eligible. Seems kinda harsh and risky but hey what else is it going to take to make these guys actually play and care about the regular season. Allstars help players make a legacy and if they don't wanna play then fine. Don't expect to be an Allstar if you can't show up to play. Just like any job, you can't be rewarded for not showing up consistently.
As a Suns fan, this just continues to piss me off. Are any of these guys gonna play 70 games? Considering the prices for Suns games these days, I’m obviously not going to a game this year. This is just the first stanza to yet another symphonic failure. Fml
Load management became a thing once Kobe retired. He was the last of the old guard who believed that sitting out of a game was cheating the fans. Todays players are entitled and don’t care about the fans, consequently, NBA viewership is down as a result.
2:44 that was some NBA street shit
Despite less and less physicality, advances in medicine and exercise science, and individuals making more money than the entire league did in the past (adjusted for inflation, the NBA's revenue was 244$ million in 1970-71), younger players are complaining about an 82-game season. It's not like it was adopted last year; it's been 82 since 1967, and before that, it was 80 (and briefly 81.)
Not that I disagree but the lack of physicality is definitely evened out by the faster pace. I couldn’t find any statistics but I highly doubt players in the 70s, 80s and 90s ran as many miles per game as the average player does today. That arguably takes an even bigger toll on your recovery as an athlete. The better comparison would be the prime Kobe era tbh, that shit was definitely the most demanding and yet, load management was so unheard of that the Spurs got fined for sitting their starters one game in 2013
@@nomongosinthaworld incorrect. The modern pace of play is slower than the 60s-70s-80s; look up the pace of play by year (Basketball Reference.) The only eras slower than today were the late 90s and early 2000s.
Okay, true but that pace statistic is just the number of possessions and doesn’t indicate how fast the action within a single possession takes place. Not referring to the time it takes to complete a possession here but rather how many things are executed within one which has undoubtedly seen a huge increase due to less and less iso ball and more and more complicated screening. More possessions also doesn’t mean an individual player runs more which is what my point was about
@@nomongosinthaworld That's an oxymoron. higher pace = more possessions = shorter/quicker possessions. From Stamford University: "Pace is measured by counting the number of possessions that happen in a typical 48-minute game. More possessions means a faster pace. Pace has a significant impact on the game in two ways: Faster pace means more possessions, more trips up and down the court, and ultimately more running."
There not gonna shorten the season either cause then the owners will lose money, you must punish the players directly, not reward them.
They keep adding tournaments to a league with players that don't want to play the 82 games they are supposed to
Bro you are gold😂😂😂 the memes are killer and love your points!!
when supplied with baddies 😂
I think the problem with the NBA is there too many games in the regular season with no stakes
If it were a normal sports league it would be a 58 games season with everybody playing everybody home and away
Back in the days when you could qualify with division title it doesn't matter if you win 50 games someone can swoop in and take your play off spot (there was a time when 50 wins was no guarantee for a play off spot in the west) so you can load manage
Now the league is letting teams qualify with in season tournament so it might address the issue somewhat
Some players like Kawaii I think just have sth about his body that makes him more prone to injury (maybe things we don't see like hip angles or sth)
1:07 in says all you need to know. BTW Luka has two injuries right now. Man still in there and looking pretty damn good.
Dude, I watch soccer (or football for other countries), but I stg, the star player from every team there will always 99% play every match. The only time they don't play is if they got injured or sumn.
Nba stats are actually so lame it's insane
Just like with the jumping into defenders to get a foul or their anti complaining to refs rules?
The NBA likes to create the illusion of actual rule changes
Facts
Honestly thinking that the league should withhold pay for any player who load manages games, if you tore your ACL or something you still get paid, but rest days? No
Here’s a wild loose idea, you have to play a certain percentage of games to qualify to play in the playoffs.
Ngl that’s an awful idea lol
I called and asked my boss if i could have my work load managed.. would you believe he laughed me out of the room and managed to increase load
Congrats on 20K.

The breakdown of society affects every aspect of society. When the league is filled with young men raised in stable two-parent homes under the leadership of fathers, the league will be strong: filled with masculine men competing against each other. When the league is filled with young males raised in broken homes led by women, raised to elevate emotion, crave attention and be triggered by everything, the league will be weak: filled with males that want to take the easy way out, focus on friendships and creating narratives .
Mad respect goes out to NHL players - they'll come back into a game with their two front teeth missing as if nothing happened loll

I think Steph, LeBron and Jokić play and keep 'the train rolling' 😊But rest of the league you are absolutely right👍💯
It's so different from athelts expectations and how they're treated in football culture... I do think there should be closer to 50 games and they should be more accessible. Match ups can also be more hyped up and teams can practice instead of straight games/rest.
Bro put Anfernee Simons on the screen like he is getting load managed. He has a 4-6 week thumb injury.
Never said he was. It's just a list of players who are not playing games for one reason or another and it's a picture from JimmyHighrollers video. James Harden was on the picture as well but he was out on purpose for being a bitch.
