he wasn;t just an angry Witcher, he was an emotionally broken one. And considering you never want to see a Witcher angry, I almost feel sorry for Weavuss
I like how this ending implies that after Ciri dies Geralt doesn't simply continue his romances with either Triss or Yenn and none of this friends can comfort him through it, its truly the one thing that breaks Geralt.
@@AdamWest1290 the werewolf represents his willingness to help while being absolutely useless and probably just counterproductive. At least I guess that's how this Gerald was seen by ciri lol
+guitarwhelp I also like the fact that this ending, while sad, actually tells the most complete story. Both Ciri being empress and Ciri being a witcheress are not truly endings, as Ciri will undoubtedly be having many more adventures and dammit, I want to see them. In this case, with Ciri being dead and Geralt following soon after, at least no more questions are left unanswered. And it's satisfying to kill the last Crone, something that's left unresolved in the other endings. I find it hard to believe that Geralt and Ciri wouldn't go after the last Crone together if she survived, to retrieve Vesemir's/Ciri's medallion. Also, this is the ending that would agree best with the book canon. Seeing how the books have chapters set in the future where people who have been closely following Ciri's story have no clue what happened to her. That would certainly rule out the Empress ending, seeing how if Ciri became an empress under her real name and titles, that would have definitely been recorded in history. As for Witcheress ending, well, surely her legend would continue as well, unless she changed her name.
Actually Velozir on the Witcheress ending when Geralt gives Ciri her sword it is actually hinted that Ciri and Geralt went after the last Crone when Geralt told Ciri to test it out and "Put it to good use"
As sad as the ending is, from a narrative perspective, it is still quite acceptable as an ending. It just makes the story a tradegy (in the theatrical sense, not the quality of the game)
I would have preferred this ending instead of the ending I got. (Ciri became a witcher) This ending involved way more emotion and I think this wrapped up the story and feel of the Witcher-series really well. I don't mean I wanted Ciri to die but I liked this tragic ending way more.
just first time finished the game. In the end, Ciri just like real life missing person, most cases the person just ran away. she already had stayed in many worlds in the past, and the only reason she come back to witcher's world this time because of people in there, whom she care about, she want to save them from White Frost. if she can come back alive in good ending, meaning in bad ending she just go some where else, because Geralt' behavior make she think this world too grim for her to stay. so after saving the world she decide to leave. perhaps she now stay in another video game's universes.... imo depend on Geralt been through his whole life in this world naturally he will give Ciri all the negative' point advises, and those advises are not bad or evil. every good advises seen too force when i play the game and try to get to the good ending. or maybe Geral just changed after he finally meet Ciri..
11:22 He uses his iron sword to incapacitate her instead of outright killing her, just so he can brutally kill her up close and personal with the silver sword.
I wish you could kill the last crone as a sidequest if you get the good ending because that sword throw was badass but of course geralt doesn't die if its the side quest
@@adix3603 ofc you don't "totally die" they won't make you start the game from 0 to play the dlc, but in this cinematic. It's subtly told geralt die by the many monsters coming for him.
@@Doppleganger696 it shows that many monsters r coming for him lol it doesn't show they kill them.bruh they were a few drowners and geralt legit killed the wild hunt.and btw they can make u play the dlc from zero. If u want to play the dlc without even touching the main game it automatically makes u lvl 35 and starts the game so if geralt dies that would have been the case
@@adix3603 from a narrative perspective, what is the point to show a horde of monsters lurking at geralt while he is in a desperate state? So you mean they show monsters for nothing? They have too much budget so they have to animate useless monsters which would be slain just after? They don't make you start from 0 cause people would be piss off to lose all their armors, weapons and everything else.
@@Doppleganger696 from a narrative perspective how can a stupid snowball fight change the ending of the game ? It's legit confirmed geralt isn't dead tho but ok
I got this ending after my first playthrough. Felt empty after and sad after it. Very impactful, very powerful. Had chills over my body while playing it.
What are these choices? I got an ending where Geralt was together with Triss in Kovir and Ciri became a Witcher. Radovid won the north and killed all otherlings. Duny was stabbed by his own people. I would love to live in a 3 person relationship with Triss and Yen With Ciri as the daughter. Radovid gets killed and Nilfgaard and the north ended the war and all live in peace
@@darklaw1384 There are 5 times Geralts reacts to a situation Ciri is in, and those 5 choices decide her fate. The other characters' fate however, depends on other quests
❆Mojunez13❆ I just finished the game and oh my god it was an emotional rollercoaster. At first I was sad that she was dead, then angry that the game tricked me into thinking she was dead, than I accepted it and was happy.
I was crying like a child when Geralt told Emhyr that Ciri died. I thought it was real and was devastated... Then I saw her in the tavern, and the happiness came back to me. It's funny how a game can make you feel so attached to a fictional character.
Would be cool if we can also hunt down the last crone in the witcheress ending. Geralt and ciri can do it together and get vesimer's medallion back to ciri before she go off on her own
Exactly what I was thinking, the sword is sacred to Witchers and this gets reinforced throughout the story so for him to throw it like that really puts into perspective how Geralt must feel in that moment
although horrifically depressing, this is my favorite ending, the dialogue between Geralt and the werewolf (whether you decide to kill him or not) might be the best dialogue in the entire game.
Witchers have very dull emotions. The fact Geralt goes crazy at 11:50 here shows how much he cares/loves Ciri. He just loses it. Pure raw passion. That's the love of a father for his daughter.
They can control their emotions better as in not panice or go in shock, but still have emotions. No emotions thing is a common myth which Geralt loves to use avoid hard topics or as an excuse and pretty much all his friends or people who know him call him out on it
The way I approached Ciri has to do with the ending. Three strikes for me are telling Ciri that she did not have to be perfect in Kaer Morhen, being with Ciri when she has a conversation with the Lodge, and telling her to stop when investigating Avallach's hideout.
@@sernoddicusthegallant6986 yeah, it's like if you don't agree to her every whim she'll die. And you know what? To hell with her, Geralt hasn't lived that long to take shit from a child.
@@brainswag if you're talking about agreement, then isn't the whole point of parenting to teach a child how to behave properly? I'd expect someone like Geralt to be a strict and just parent, and not let his underling thrash a lab because she was on her period.
Yeah Berem is bro we knew him for only one mission yet he’s one of my favorite and in my opinion most memorable characters especially after I got this ending first
I can tell Geralt was so close to regain his emotion, probably the closest ever since he became a witcher. In the minute he killed the last Crone, he showed extreme hatred, wrath, panic and lastly grief. It's the most humane Geralt we've seen in the last Witcher game. That "I don't feel anymore" line made him ever more pathetic.
Witcher do feel emotions, he loves Ciri and Yen and all his friends. The "emotionless" bit is just part of myths surrounding Witchers to dehumanize them.
I got this ending. Yes, its tragic but at the time, I thought of it as a heroic sacrifice and Geralt retrieving the medallion was a nice way to end things, even though it was tragic. But now i know Ciri would've survived if i made my decisions better. I feel so sad. I didn't accept the emperors coin, didn't want her to join the lodge because they're suspicious, visited Skjalls grave and tried to comfort as much as I could. But still, in the end, she died. I feel so responsible for her death and its killing me inside. All in all, this was a great game.
I'm just see i have this one i don't know how to have the other ending If you have to choose a specific answer or do something in principal quest And i don't get it the text before enter the fog to search Ciri me i understand that to after that we can't still play but it false you can still play do secondary quest so don't get it if someone get explain to me thanks :) but that fine by me It just a ending yeah Gerald probably die but you can still play with him after the end of generic so XD that not so bad lmao
I did all the right thing. She became empress. But i romanced with both triss and yen . And end of the game i am left all alone at kajer morhen .. so depressing..
Hm well i never read any dialogues and my game also ended like this. But since i dont know the story i am not really bothered. For me the main thing was to have the best armour and weapons and kill beasts etc
This was absolutely heartbreaking. Geralt, the deadly and famous White Wolf, reduced to a sobbing wreck, just patiently waiting for death, he failed his daughter so terribly that he simply gave up
I've done some research and turns out he calls Ciri his daughter twice in this game. When talking to the crones (Yes the one he just kills too) bak at the swap when he meets Johny for the first time he says something like that "she is my daughter of choice. I raised her" :)
Noe mandoza hernandez maybe there is a thing in the translation, but I remember quite a few times that geralt talked about ciri as his daughter. Sadly I don't have the book at hand. Hope I'm not getting confused tho.
Lusty Argonian Maid Later in the story Yennefer calls Ciri her daughter a lot and she calls Yen mommy but i don't remember the Geralt part either and i have the original language.
Anyone else think Ciri didn't actually die, she just didn't come back after the white frost because Geralt was so controlling and she didn't want to go back to him?
I seriously doubt it. I was spoiled rotten as a kid an my parents were still more controlling than geralt's "bad" choices. Telling someone to calm down when theyre throwing a temper tantrum isnt controlling its expecting basic reason.
I like this ending as it shows that even being stripped of emotion can't stop the desperation, rage, and grief he feels from coming out. On top of that, the medallion is a double blow to him as it's a reminder of losing both Ciri AND Vesemir. The only way they could have topped it would have been to show him shed a tear, as it would have been a callback to the line he gave to Ciri when she called him out for not looking too upset at Vesemir's funeral: "I'd cry, too, but i don't know how"
@@themercifulguard3971 how did you or anyone think they weren't bad?? 1) telling your daughter she doesn't need to be the best at everything then trying to get her drunk- stupid/bad/demoralising 2) taking coin from her real father for saving her- stupid/bad/demoralising 3) not l trusting her to make her own decisions with the lodge- the Lodge is not trustworthy but still demoralising 4) Reminding her she is Lara Dorrens heir and giving her a dead elf womans necklace--weird and demoralising 5) not letting her go and say goodbye to the person that saved her life--insane and spiteful Tldr: all the choices that affect the bad ending are terrible and most Geralt would never do.
@@BeautyIsJustAMask I only made the mistake on two of those, which is the one where I would let her vent her anger and the first one. I guess I didn't put much thought or maybe misunderstood cuz afterwards I kinda realized what they were supposed to mean
Noksivs yeah exactly the Witcher tv series was not a cohesive storyline cause it wasn’t meant to be due to the fact that it was introducing the book characters to a broader audience. Witcher 3 was for actual fans so they did not have to explain things and could go all in because it was the ending of Geralt’s story. The tv series will get better when it can go where it wants to with characters it’s introduced.
@@leobates945 still I feel they could have done better with the story and especially actors choices. For me only Geralt and Ciri I felt were right. Also Geralt was way too cold and angry in the series which is not really him. As yes he is a bit cold he still cracks jokes (or acts sarcastic) and smiles occasionally.
@@neon0025 Geralt was kind of cold in the books, the games depict him with a more cheerfull character. To be honest, Henry Cavill nailed the character, Yennefer's actress too, she may not be the most accurate aesthetically, but acting wise she was great. The only choice i couldn't stand was Fringilla Vigo actress. I mean i'm not racist or anything but, why a black actress? Fringilla was described to be really similar to Yennefer by Geralt, let alone the fact that she is related to Ciri and she's Anna Henrietta's cousin (mostly cause being related to someone doesn't imply having the same skin color). Just for the sake of diversity? Yes, i'm aware that *"i'm not racist but"* is a classic punchline
Kinda hate how they just glossed over the white frost thing like this. Been wondering for long what the story behind the wild hunt was, and now they finally explained it, been wondering for long what the story behind the white frost was, and they just added a glowing orb with Ciri walking towards it while explaining nothing at all, while the lore state's its supposed to be a natural phenomenon, not a force coming from a single source.
Its been so long....but I still cant get over the fact that I got this ending….I thought I was so caring of Ciri….Its genius in a way..I'm hearing a lot of people who wanted to be kind to Ciri got this ending. So it hurts all the more when you suddenly get this. This ending makes you feel so guilty. Never have I experienced such guilt and pain over a video game ending.
I just finished this game for the first time and I got this ending... But why? I tried to do the right choices and tried to be nice to everyone, but still got the worst ending
@@Xakaion the whole point of the game is protecting ciri from Eredin. Doesnt make sense if we let her do whatever she wants, especially when fighting wild hunts.
The ending choices are simply fucking retarded. They're asking you questions as if you're actually Geralt. But you're not. You're a player playing a game. So when Ciri says "Do you want to come with me to talk to the sorceresses" I say "yeah, I want to find out more about this world". BOOM, you're fucked because of it. Ciri talks about using her power that almost killed someone in a closed space right beside you? The answer apparently "Go for it". It seems like the writing for the game was good, but at the end they had a lot of stupid choices for what constituted a good and bad ending. And that's the real reason you got it. Stupid video game psychological bullshit.
*Beren* The Werewolf had no strength to move around yet offers advice, guides *AND* lends you a hand fighting the crone against the odds willingly. Wished we had met him under different circumstances. Does the she-wolf represent Ciri?
Berem had no strength, yet lent Geralt a hand to fight one of the foulest evil. The group of bandits were full of wit and vigor, yet became the servants for the crone. Just like the werewolf had no human ears but decided to wear one, and yet the humans had ears but willing offered them to the crone. Velen was but a miniature of the world. In this poisonous swamp, creatures either died, or adapted to it and became monsters.
This is my second play through with one year gap, i got the opposite of yours, Witcher first try then this abomination in my second try.. I'm not gonna play it anymore
Thank you for uploading this. I wish that Geralt would kill the final Crone in all the endings, but would survive the aftermath and THEN would the other endings begin (Ciri as Empress or as a Witcheress). It bothered me that the one Crone lived, so that's my reasoning for that. Otherwise this ending is quite horrible, but at least it provides certain closure (provided both Ciri AND Geralt die).
Igor Karnovski Well we don't know Ciri died in this ending. It's speculated that she just went off to another world, considering *SPOILERS* she survives in all of the other endings, I don't see why she wouldn't in this one.
I think that's because Geralt doesn't have a reason to kill the last Crone if Ciri survives. He chases the last Crone in the worst ending to get the medallion because it's all that's left of Ciri now, no need to do that if she's alive.
When you play through this game the first time and get the good ending with Yen, then replay it for Triss's ending but treat Ciri to alcohol rather than a snowball fight not knowing you just fucked up and earned this ending. Feels man. Feels.
A testament to CDPR's writing. I ended my playthrough with this, and even though I think the way I got there didn't make a lot of sense (several of the endgame decisions were just bizarre or poorly explained), the ending itself, while heartbreaking, still felt satisfying. It felt like a real ending, as valid as all the others. So many games just chalk it up to 'the only ending that counts' and 'the bad ending where everything sucks forever.' CDPR didn't cut corners here and I appreciate it.
The house is swarmed with drowners and you don't get any continuation with Geralt indicating he as well dies? Whoa. I'm happy I got the "Too good to be true ending" as I like to call it with Ciri becoming a Witcher. For me everything went 100% perfect and I hadn't even looked this stuff up. Then I decided to pummel my mood by watching the 2 other ways this could have ended up.
@@l.d.3097 No, it does not. Blood and Wine takes place 3 years after Wild Hunt. Yennefer , Triss, Dandelion or Ciri can visit and tell what are they doing after everything happened. Geralt even retires after Blood and Wine.
The bad ending is the best ending you could get in your first playthrough. It has greatest impact on you from all the other endings... And got that Sapkowski feel to it.
In these days of pandemic, I've picked the game, for the first time, to cheer me up a bit. After a hundred hours playing it, I got this ending. Thanks. =(
last time i got so emotional was when i saw Mafia 1 ending... so many years later finally i found a game that made me want to cry again. I hate this ending it gave me depression for some time, but it just shows how well Witcher 3 is made..
There's something about Berem that I really like. For a werewolf he's quite articulate and poetic. I also don't think I've seen a werewolf displaying compassion before either, which he did for Geralt and the cubs. He was summoned by the crone and knew how powerful she was and what she was totally capable of, but he chose to help a total stranger instead. Berem is a great character. I hope he's having good wolf dreams.
2 years ago i got this ending on my first playthrough. i was legit depressed for a couple days and the fact that this game made me depressed is the reason its one of my favorites to this day
im years late, but did anyone else notice how he took his steel sword out and threw it at the crone instead of using his silver sword which is what is used to kill monsters?
I feel like this mission should have been in all 3 of the endings. It makes sense that Geralt would go and retrieve the medallion, the difference would be what happens after
SO I got this ending because I tried to be a good father: -When Ciri came defeated I tried to lift the pressure, I told her she didnt need to be good at everything. My idea was using reverse psycology in order to leave her out of pressure. (BAD CHOICE) -When she was irrationally angry I tried to calm her down, instead of doing something she would regret. I valued the effort token from Avallach with that research. (BAD CHOICE) -When Ciri told me the lodge wanted to have a meeting I tried to be a supportive father and to show her I was supporting her I told her that i would be present in order to let her comfortable in that meeting (BAD CHOICE) -I went with her to Skjall funeral (GOOD CHOICE) -Didnt sell her out (GOOD CHOICE) So, I had the bad ending, but I tried to be a good father, does this mean I am a bad father or is the game messed up?
HeavenlyEx See the thing with Ciri is that she's an adult and many of those choices would be correct.... If Ciri was a kid, minus the drinking obviously. Being a good father to Ciri is more about trusting in her ability to make the good decisions on her own.
Thats funny, I made exactly the same decisions as you and was just as confused with the ending. Granted it is only a game but by this logic in order to be a “good” parent you should encourage vandalism, insist on unrealistic perfectionism for ciri and be aloof and unsupportive when she takes the lead in gathering the lodge sorceresses. Huh? Makes no sense. If you really told your kid they had to be good at everything and be so hard on themselves they would probably be fairly anxious and poorly adjusted adults. The meeting choice wasnt about not respecting ciris autonomy as an adult but just being there as a silent supportive parent with any age child is a great example to set. Lastly one of the main themes of this ending was that Geralt was consumed by violence and anger by killing everything in sight but yet we came to this point by teaching ciri the life lesson of restraint of revenge/anger by not destroying avallachs lab. Well thats my rant but it made me feel better and I fully agree with you.
Adam Wheeler ditto. I got this ending and was blown away by it since I made my choices trying to be as logical as possible. Letting ciri “be an adult” was like giving a 7 year old nuclear launch codes right after they start a tantrum. So yeah, I’m gonna be a little over protective when the stakes are so high that the world might end, especially since ciri is so reckless
RangerCaptain775 I got the bad ending and I agree What makes me laugh is that they could have made the lodge decision the complete opposite like making Geralt say you‘ll manage on your own in a reckless tone and boom that could be a negative answer and you‘re not being supportive or showing love or whatever and the other party would be pissed and discussing it on youtube and we‘d be expressing how logical it is. The lab thing is ridiculous you basically tell her to calm down why did they add the following scene of you forcing her to wear a necklace?? Discussion IS part of adulthood that Ciri clearly doesn‘t understand. It‘s not like I held her against her will to get her to calm down. Being the “adult“ she is and considering how unpredictable Geralt is sometimes I just didn‘t trust the „I know what‘l lift your spirit“ option because it was so vague I just picked the other thinking that Geralt would talk to her telling her real world advice like it‘s ok to fail or your doing your best and that‘s what matters or don‘t be hard on yourself NOT just give up magic you‘re hopeless The “good“ choice is to distract her like a 7 year old. Seriously who plays snowball after a friend‘s death and with an adult looking for relief?? I thought she was an adult that I should sit down and talk to her like one not distract her with a game and run away from the bigger problem. I don’t understand. The game was not black and white how come the endings are?? The good and the bad endings are basically Disney vs complete tragedy and Ciri is a child in an adult‘s body I appreciate the not so obvious choices but they should not have lead to black and white results
I’m so glad I got this ending, it brings you back down to earth and further solidifies that this story is very dark, it just feels the most realistic. I always say this is the greatest story I’ve ever been told and recommend this game all the time.
I finally played through this after trying to pick it up 3 times and got this ending. I still have the DLC's to play through but honestly I have no motivation to play through them after getting this ending lmao
Confused Canuck The Witcher ending occurs if Geralt chooses more positive actions during the missions Battle Preparations, Blood on the Battlefield and Final Preparations.
I think there should only have been 2 endings. If you say no to Ciri, she becomes Empress. If you give in to her, she becomes a Witcher with you. The only way you should get this ending is if you sell her out to Emhyr. Because the way they wrote that scene was just fucked Up.
+irarelyupload Supporting her and sticking up for her during the discussion with the Lodge who are known to be intimidating makes you a bad parent? Alright then.
What I would have really liked is when you get the ending where Ciri becomes a witcher, you get one final quest similar to this where she hunts down and kills the last crone and reclaims Vesimer's amulet. And when the deed is done she puts the amulet on and sets out to forge her own legend. It would also set up a sequal nicely.
And I thought I had the worst ending at my first playthrough but this somehow seems worse. Ciri was dead but I'm sure I never met this werewolf and I killed the crown. But at least I made Cerys queen of Skellige and she ruled. Besides that I failed every of the core Ciri quests/decisions as I wanted to help, not knowing that those decide whether she survives the white cold and comes back or dies. I also kicked away Dixtra, not knowing Geralt would go ham on him and twist his other leg, resulting in me not being able to kill Radovid. Goddamn!
My first play through I got this ending. I thought I was being a good dad but apparently not. I'm completely devastated that I got this ending but also believe this is the best ending because of the emotion this ending gives
Samething. I just got this ending and I can’t take it out of my mind, it’s devestating, tragic and completely depressing. I even chose the Triss romance path but I never actually got to see it, as if I somehow fucked that up? So this video was literally the ending I got.
Even though I find it very very hard to believe that ghouls and drowners were able to take down Geralt, I like to think that while he sits there with the medallion, Cirilla is the only thing on his mind so he just lets the weak monsters kill him so he can feel like he can maybe join her. I also like the fact that we can find dead Witchers in the game so it would be dope to find out if a young Witcher came and found Geralts loot
Got this in my first play through and I was shocked. After a few hours on contemplating I thought “No this can’t be the end, right? After all everything? All the missions and contracts?” I searched up the ending and saw “Bad ending” immediately. So, I’m starting a New Game + and going to find where I went wrong. And trust me I had good intentions when playing this game and I didn’t even know what factored into this ending. Didn’t even know there was multiple endings let alone a bad one. It probably had something to do with the flashbacks Ciri had at the end. Problem is I don’t remember what the flash back were. I don’t want to search anything up either. Anyway, wish me luck in this new run. Again, going to play with the best intentions same as the last run.
@@youlily928 Update: Beat the game again. Outcome was leagues better than my previous play through. I even gotten both DLCs and played them. Got great endings in those so no need for a redo. Hope your second run went well. I might end up playing the game again because it’s that fun. Might change things up a little in the new run. Can’t wait for CyberPunk!
"Worst" in the sense that it's tragic, but "Best" in regards to the story. I honestly feel like this is the only reasonable ending to the game, given everything that happens.
This is the ending you get by choosing sensible options like 'don't worry that learning is taking longer than expected', 'I'll come with you for support' and 'don't fucking explode next to us'.
Just finished the game with that ending. And all because i said to Citi “don’t fuck with the elf’s laboratory” 80+ hours of playing just fucked because of this smaaaaaall misunderstanding.
David Galoyan Did you also not go to Skjall's grave, drink with her instead of the snowball fight just post Uncle Ves's death? If you do more than one of these it contributes to the ending.
Let's see the "responsible adult' choices that lead to the bad ending. "Don't use that power that almost killed everyone in this small confined space" "Yes, I want to hear what the Witches have to say because we can't trust anyone in this situation." "Let' sit here and drink and chat as adults instead of ahving a snowball fight." "Yes, let's take you to grieve and get closure on a death." I mean, fuck me. The choices are fucking retarded.
Confused Canuck Yet they make perfect sense when you think about it. I mean take the Lodge meeting, yeah it would be nice to hear what they plan to do with Ciri and to back her up if she needs it BUT by the same token, Ciri is an adult who can and should be trusted to do what she thinks is right. The snowball fight: rather self-explaining, i mean i wouldn't want to drink my sorrows away after the death of a "family" member. Yeah you can reminisce that way but the thoughts are rarely positive. Maybe it's disrespectful to his memory that Ciri is laughing and happy so soon after his death and yet i believe that he would 100% want Ciri to do that. I'm pretty sure NOT going to bury Skjall is the negative one not burying him.
Confused Canuck Yeah, i don't get that logic. I always play it as in what i would do if it were me in Geralts shoes. Kids having overprotective parents rarely ends well once they reach the real world. So by showing this trust and belief in Ciri to make the right decisions for herself is ALWAYS a good thing. Ok, sure you might want to protect Ciri from the plans the Lodge DO have for her and yet, how is letting Ciri decide on her own what she wants to do with regards to their plans such a bad thing?
Except that going to the sorceresses isn't about being over protective. It's the fucking prudent move. It's literally the move, if you've been following the story, that makes the most sense. This is the core problem. I mean, if there was a scenario where she's going to go out fighting something that you know to be weak and you're like "I'll come with you", sure. But that's not the case. For example, when I played, every single time I had an option to let Ciri choose I did so. Those didn't fucking mattered to determine if you had confidence in her. What mattered was a fucking snowball fight. The ending is retarded. And I'm sorry to say anyone who thinks the choices makes sense is either of low mental capacity, being a fanboi or is trolling.
I loved this game but am pretty pissed I got this ending. After trying to be be good the whole game because I didn´t have a snowball fight, didn´t let her smash something up, tried to help her talk to the witches I died at the end!! All pretty random choices, now I have to play it all again because I don´t have any saves before the battle.
Or just say "You know what, this is fucking retarded" and never buy anything from the publisher again. Because they're going to do the same retarded shit down the line.
That's how life works, bro. There is no color coded choices like in Mass Effect where you know what's bad and good all the fucking times. Sometimes you're right, sometimes you're wrong. And btw, you can't expect a good ending to Ciri by being a completely arse and unsupportive to her. You must let her make her own decisions without your interference and be supportive to her ideals. The only thing I disagree is burning the Avallach laboratory, she really needed to cool down that moment. The other ones made completely sense and I still got the Witcher ending.
You did shitty things You didint let Ciri grow in the time you were together "Pretty Random choices" is something when you just ignore everything either because you're overprotective or just want to blaze through the game (which has a low chance being you. Since you just wanted to be good, but didint know how to be good)
+Shadow Stalker I disagree. I really don't see how they're "shitty things". You tell her you don't have to be good at everything to reassure her, you joined her on the Lodge discussion because she was anxious and you wanted to support her, and you don't let her trash the lab because it's such a childish thing to do and she's an adult. She suddenly then decides to give up on life during the White Frost and die because these three things really stood out to her, as if they're a matter of life and death to her? Damn, that snowball fight would've really made the difference. It is pretty crappy way to close it off. The whole last Act was weaker compared to the rest of the game.
@@Oxygen97 "You dont have to be good at everything" is for losers. How is that a consolation? We should all try to be the best versions of ourselves, the lady of time and space included! Cause visiting graves is fun and you get to punch a mouthy peasant. And dont take Emhyrs money. At that point in the game, you already have so many Velen longswords and drowner brains to sell that you can feed the next five generations of witchers. Peace
Guys please... From a narrative perspective this ending makes sense if geralt dies. He is completely alone and broken. He does not want to live anymore. He breaks down at the sight of vesemirs meddalion. He also said to the peasant when told to leave:" not yet, soon" So I believe that if you have a romance, he lives. If not he dies, regardless of the dlcs. It just makes sense that he will die. Weavess senses his pain. And no I'm not edgy, this just makes sense.
it does, but i dont think even with a romance, will he decide to fight for his life. with how broken he is at the end, in the house of the crones, not even triss or yen love will help him survive the loss of his daughter. he even said so himself, "you lie. I dont feel a thing anymore", implying, that, even if during the fight or cutscenes he displays emotion, on the inside he is a dead husk of the man he was before the death of ciri.

On a narrative point of view, I think I prefer this one to the witcheress ending. Both the bad ending and the empress ending are far more emotional than the witcheress ending.
It definitely seems the most "witcher" ending. Anyone who read sapkowski's books would likely agree with me that the other two are just too happy for geralt's story.
You can reload the game at the 'battle preparations' mission. When you visit Avallach's place, let Ciri trash it. Then visit Skjall's grave with her after. Then, when Avallach is laying out the battle plan, don't say it's wise to leave Ciri on the sidelines. I think that should swing it back into the 'good' ending territory.
At first I was so freaking mad when Gerald went to the king to report Ciri was dead... I thought I had the bad ending... And then there she was at the tavern
*you’re lying, I don’t feel a thing*
Then Geralt shows more emotion in the following five minutes than the duration of the whole game.
He felt nothing but seething rage and rabid desperation. Geralt died the moment the portal on Undvik was sealed.
he wasn;t just an angry Witcher, he was an emotionally broken one. And considering you never want to see a Witcher angry, I almost feel sorry for Weavuss
He wasn't gonna give her the satisfaction of knowing that, that's for damned sure.
As I can see, Geralt has the most neat and strong emotion in the entire games, he’s just experienced too much during his long life.
@@jamescooley8099 Seething rage and rabid desperation IS feeling something... You comment is contradictory
I like how this ending implies that after Ciri dies Geralt doesn't simply continue his romances with either Triss or Yenn and none of this friends can comfort him through it, its truly the one thing that breaks Geralt.
Thats because it strongly suggests that he gave up to the monsters and died in that hut.

Yes, and the Werewolf is his inner demon that he tries so hard to hide. Nice to see someone who observed the situation like that too.
I'd like to think its Ciri because he could'nt help her then but he can this time.
I actually really like this ending. It's tragic, but very well written
guitarwhelp I agree, all endings in TW3 are amazing, even the worst one. A pity ME3 couldn't be like that.
What you talking about Mass Effect 3 endings were good... It even states that Shepherd was getting indoctrinated!
Actually Velozir on the Witcheress ending when Geralt gives Ciri her sword it is actually hinted that Ciri and Geralt went after the last Crone when Geralt told Ciri to test it out and "Put it to good use"
this ending was the saddest I wish I would have gotten the other one oh well .it was still pretty good
As sad as the ending is, from a narrative perspective, it is still quite acceptable as an ending. It just makes the story a tradegy (in the theatrical sense, not the quality of the game)
I would have preferred this ending instead of the ending I got. (Ciri became a witcher)
This ending involved way more emotion and I think this wrapped up the story and feel of the Witcher-series really well.

Knowing that a Witcher would never ordinarily throw his sword like that just makes Geralt's rage in that moment all the more palpable.
I got this ending and I was like…this game is “hardcore”
Witchers have very dull emotions. The fact Geralt goes crazy at 11:50 here shows how much he cares/loves Ciri. He just loses it. Pure raw passion. That's the love of a father for his daughter.
I don't feel like Vesemir, Lambert and Eskel had dull emotions at all. Like completely the opposite of Geralt.
They can control their emotions better as in not panice or go in shock, but still have emotions. No emotions thing is a common myth which Geralt loves to use avoid hard topics or as an excuse and pretty much all his friends or people who know him call him out on it
"Look about you; feel the hatred? They would see you suffer as you lost your claws, wolf!"

@@richalva415 It also is a myth welcomed by witchers because it benifits them too

The only way they could have topped it would have been to show him shed a tear, as it would have been a callback to the line he gave to Ciri when she called him out for not looking too upset at Vesemir's funeral: "I'd cry, too, but i don't know how"

SadPickel Because she couldn't hold onto all the good memories she had in the other endings to urge her onwards to end the White Frost.
I think that's because Geralt doesn't have a reason to kill the last Crone if Ciri survives. He chases the last Crone in the worst ending to get the medallion because it's all that's left of Ciri now, no need to do that if she's alive.

In these days of pandemic, I've picked the game, for the first time, to cheer me up a bit. After a hundred hours playing it, I got this ending. Thanks. =(
Same here man lmao.

last time i got so emotional was when i saw Mafia 1 ending... so many years later finally i found a game that made me want to cry again.
He used the steel sword to stop her, and then finishes she with the silver sword
Final blow is on the head with silver sword
This goes to show that even though the mutations stripped Witchers most of their humanity; they can still feel emotions in the end.
Cmon Fallout! The Witcher did the ending tapestry. Why couldn't you?
Go and play fallout 1 if you really want a bad ending, trust me...
+darkslayer 101 Bethesda games are more about exploration than narrative to be honest, writing has never been their forte.

I feel like this mission should have been in all 3 of the endings. It makes sense that Geralt would go and retrieve the medallion, the difference would be what happens after
SO I got this ending because I tried to be a good father:
-When Ciri came defeated I tried to lift the pressure, I told her she didnt need to be good at everything. My idea was using reverse psycology in order to leave her out of pressure. (BAD CHOICE)
-When she was irrationally angry I tried to calm her down, instead of doing something she would regret. I valued the effort token from Avallach with that research. (BAD CHOICE)
-When Ciri told me the lodge wanted to have a meeting I tried to be a supportive father and to show her I was supporting her I told her that i would be present in order to let her comfortable in that meeting (BAD CHOICE)
-I went with her to Skjall funeral (GOOD CHOICE)
-Didnt sell her out (GOOD CHOICE)
So, I had the bad ending, but I tried to be a good father, does this mean I am a bad father or is the game messed up?
Whole game is about ''there are no good or bad'' dude
RangerCaptain775
I got the bad ending and I agree
What makes me laugh is that they could have made the lodge decision the complete opposite like making Geralt say you‘ll manage on your own in a reckless tone and boom that could be a negative answer and you‘re not being supportive or showing love or whatever and the other party would be pissed and discussing it on youtube and we‘d be expressing how logical it is.
The lab thing is ridiculous you basically tell her to calm down why did they add the following scene of you forcing her to wear a necklace?? Discussion IS part of adulthood that Ciri clearly doesn‘t understand.
It‘s not like I held her against her will to get her to calm down.
Being the “adult“ she is and considering how unpredictable Geralt is sometimes I just didn‘t trust the „I know what‘l lift your spirit“ option because it was so vague I just picked the other thinking that Geralt would talk to her telling her real world advice like it‘s ok to fail or your doing your best and that‘s what matters or don‘t be hard on yourself NOT just give up magic you‘re hopeless
The “good“ choice is to distract her like a 7 year old.
Seriously who plays snowball after a friend‘s death and with an adult looking for relief??
I thought she was an adult that I should sit down and talk to her like one not distract her with a game and run away from the bigger problem.
I don’t understand. The game was not black and white how come the endings are??
The good and the bad endings are basically Disney vs complete tragedy and Ciri is a child in an adult‘s body
I appreciate the not so obvious choices but they should not have lead to black and white results
I’m so glad I got this ending, it brings you back down to earth and further solidifies that this story is very dark, it just feels the most realistic.
I always say this is the greatest story I’ve ever been told and recommend this game all the time.
Imagine getting this ending, getting dumped by both Yen and Triss and worst ending for blood and Wine.
The last crone deserved no mercy for seeing into the witchers broken soul.
I got the Witcher ending.. thinking ciri died.. i named the sword Geralt made "ciri" for ciri.. smh lmao. This was like 2 years ago when i played it.
I finally played through this after trying to pick it up 3 times and got this ending. I still have the DLC's to play through but honestly I have no motivation to play through them after getting this ending lmao
Lol me too what is our mistake mate :)) do you know that ?
Apparently not giving into your childs every whim is "bad". I was trying to teach her how to carry herself and got this ending.
Fucking exactly
Confused Canuck
The Witcher ending occurs if Geralt chooses more positive actions during the missions Battle Preparations, Blood on the Battlefield and Final Preparations.
I think there should only have been 2 endings. If you say no to Ciri, she becomes Empress. If you give in to her, she becomes a Witcher with you.
The only way you should get this ending is if you sell her out to Emhyr. Because the way they wrote that scene was just fucked Up.
You must be a shit parent then
+irarelyupload Supporting her and sticking up for her during the discussion with the Lodge who are known to be intimidating makes you a bad parent? Alright then.
His rawr when he through his sword is fucking amazing. Really shows how devastated he is but man is this ending sad
Goddamn!
Can't believe I just got the worst ending
My first play through I got this ending. I thought I was being a good dad but apparently not.
I'm completely devastated that I got this ending but also believe this is the best ending because of the emotion this ending gives
What happens after the cutscene? The game goes on or what? Pretty obvious that Gerald died :/
Samething. I just got this ending and I can’t take it out of my mind, it’s devestating, tragic and completely depressing. I even chose the Triss romance path but I never actually got to see it, as if I somehow fucked that up? So this video was literally the ending I got.
@@curious_blankalso wanna know. Do they allow us to play after a bad ending and the titles?
We're the same.... I maybe too over protective to Ciri, I messed up this game.
Best ending. Most impactful, out of ordinary, well executed.
This is the ending you get by choosing sensible options like 'don't worry that learning is taking longer than expected', 'I'll come with you for support' and 'don't fucking explode next to us'.
Yeah and that really pissed me off that they would handle it that way
Man, selling Ciri out is just hard to watch, I can't.
Just finished the game with that ending. And all because i said to Citi “don’t fuck with the elf’s laboratory”
80+ hours of playing just fucked because of this smaaaaaall misunderstanding.
David Galoyan Did you also not go to Skjall's grave, drink with her instead of the snowball fight just post Uncle Ves's death? If you do more than one of these it contributes to the ending.
Let's see the "responsible adult' choices that lead to the bad ending.
"Don't use that power that almost killed everyone in this small confined space"
"Yes, I want to hear what the Witches have to say because we can't trust anyone in this situation."
"Let' sit here and drink and chat as adults instead of ahving a snowball fight."
"Yes, let's take you to grieve and get closure on a death."
I mean, fuck me.
There’s a lot of bad parents in this comment section goddamn
Right, if you get this ending and think you thit everything right, dont't even think about kids
You did shitty things
You didint let Ciri grow in the time you were together
"Pretty Random choices" is something when you just ignore everything either because you're overprotective or just want to blaze through the game (which has a low chance being you.
About the lodge meeting, how would you feel if your dad insisted on accompanying you to a job interview? Or to a meeting with someone? Id be pretty pissed. I think Id also rather just go freeze to death than having to deal with such a prick dad.The witches just wanted to have a friendly chat with Zirael, make fun of the blind chick and bitch about men, no harm.
I agree that trashing a lab is a pretty dick move, I stopped that from happening as well.
You should also visit that grave at the end with her. Cause visiting graves is fun and you get to punch a mouthy peasant.
And dont take Emhyrs money. At that point in the game, you already have so many Velen longswords and drowner brains to sell that you can feed the next five generations of witchers.
Peace
This is really depressing when i first see it, though its epic
I cried after getting this ending at my first go.

Maybe for you
It definitely seems the most "witcher" ending. Anyone who read sapkowski's books would likely agree with me that the other two are just too happy for geralt's story.
Just finished the game first time through a few minutes ago. Got this. Need therapy.
So I just finished this and well I’m speechless I’m depressed I can’t even describe it
same lol....rn
You can reload the game at the 'battle preparations' mission. When you visit Avallach's place, let Ciri trash it. Then visit Skjall's grave with her after. Then, when Avallach is laying out the battle plan, don't say it's wise to leave Ciri on the sidelines. I think that should swing it back into the 'good' ending territory.
At first I was so freaking mad when Gerald went to the king to report Ciri was dead... I thought I had the bad ending... And then there she was at the tavern
Oh no, I’m gonna die because I didn’t get to have a snowball fight or throw a temper tantrum.
I still can't believe that I had this ending in my first run ... It was depressing
this is the most epic ending but most tragic
The Witcher series on Netflix made me finish the game. And I got this ending, too emotional!
