      To be fair, it's extremely easy to get the very bad ending on Blood and Wine, that's pretty much the normal ending, you have to do everything right to get the good ending

    • @TLC673
      @TLC673 8 лет назад +23

      Just finished my first B&W playthrough with the good ending, you basically have to take the time to explore all dialogue options and get lucky i suppose. It definitely helped that I'd read the books which made me sympathise more with Syanna (the short story The Lesser Evil is about a girl with the Curse of the Black Sun). Probably easier to get some kind of good B&W ending than a good ending in the main game though

    • @lcg3092
      @lcg3092 8 лет назад +46

      TLC673 I really disagree, I was simpathetic to Syanna, and I did all I could to help her, but just because I chose 1 wrong dialog option on the last talk with her (you HAVE to ask her to forgive her sister), I got the worst ending...
      On the main game you have several oportunities to push for a good ending, with the only thing comparable is the empress ending, which you have to take her to see Emhyr, but that's kinda obvious...

      I would have been slightly disappointed in that ending ONLY because the boss fight with Dettlaff is badass af and has everything I like about a boss fight: badass climax that you knew was probably coming and your finally excited to do, it’s emotional and makes you think what could’ve been, it has epic stages that keep you on your toes and it takes a lot of skill as you have to get his attack patterns down and learn how to counter them.

They're all hurt and had horrible things happen to them, but that's not really an excuse for lots of their horrible deeds. Ultimately I accept the ending I got, which is the "good ending", because maybe the most amount of good might come out of it long term. But I still think it's probably not the most just ending. I think that's also why I loved the writing for this dlc more than I liked the main story. It feels like their is an actual moral dilemma at play.

    All the endings irk me, but I feel the third ending is the best. The first ending is happy, but there's no justice. The second one may feel satisfying, but it leaves the people in the region in much worse shape. In the third ending, Syanna pays for her crime, Anna is in relatively good shape (aka not dead), Regis doesn't have to leave, and Toussaint retains its stability. It's also the one where Geralt suffers the most and is appreciated the least, which I find appropriate.

      Wobbly I'd like to have a fourth ending in which you visit the Unseen Elder Vampire, Annarietta and Syanna die (because both of them are bitches), Detlaff lives and Regis is left in peace. That would be the best ending imho. And then they could make a Witcher game in which you play as Regis who's looking for Detlaff.

    The good ending is also the best ending.
    Syanna is manipulative and exploits her lover's feelings to do her bidding, but she also tries to stop the massacre of innocents in Touissant by taking the risk of meeting Detlaff on her own accord, she has reasons to target a small number of victims who made her suffer and casted her into hell over a dumb superstition that has made her ostracized for a lifetime, and she can be made to forgive and let go of her hatred in the end. Detlaff is sympathetic at first since he is used as an instrument for vengeance, but becomes the far greater evil when he decides that since his feelings got hurt he is now justified in razing a city and massacring his inhabitants indiscriminately, he doesn't even make a serious attempt to talk and if Syanna has the ribbon (which the player is not supposed to know will take her to safety) will immediately attack Geralt like a rabid dog without second thoughts.

      I disagree to a degree.While what happened to Syanna as child is awful it doesn’t really make the stuff she did for revenge right.If she wanted those knights/noblemen dead she should have done it herself not manipulate anyone for it.And the worst thing is she doesn’t even get punished for what she did because her sister is incredibly naive and just says „It’s all good sister“ ignoring what she did.On other hand tho you are right detlaff has gone to far killing all the innocent civilians with the vampires which makes it really hard both of these endings are interchangeable for me.

    I took Syanna out and wanted her to be judged by Detlaff, despite him being an emotional train wreck. To me he was the lesser evil, having his feelings trampled on by the manipulative wench, and Anna Henrietta was a raging blind woman who's rude, naive, emotional and biased. I liked her initially thinking her to be a woman of action with great charisma, but alas was proven very wrong soon after. Unfortunately, I got the ribbon (cause Gwent, I never pass up on a match) and she survived, and unfortunately had to kill Detlaf.
    In my opinion this whole mess started because of Syanna, and could've swiftly ended if Anna wasn't such a fool.

    I think the good ending has its merits. The entire story when you boil it down a philosophical battle between the two sisters. They both use pawns to act indirectly. Geralt for Anna and Dettlaff for Syanna.
    I feel that even in the ending where she doesn’t die, she will atone for her crimes in her own way. Maybe by protecting the homeland she once loved so much.
    I also think she loved Dettlaff, but let her judgement get the better of her and knew his feelings for her could be exploited to achieve her goals. I just don’t think realized what it meant to string along a higher vampire and the consequences of that action. See also the ending where Dettlaff kills her.

    Got the ending where all live except Detlaff and Yen visits (I hate youtube for spoiling that last part for me but all in all, I am satisfied...prbly woulda been blown away with the Yen visit as a surprise but oh well). I do love a redemption story but I don't like how Syenna didn't appear to get any punishment for all the pain and death she caused. The Countess really was too blinded by family ties to see her sister deserved harsh punishment.
    Ultimately I wanted forgiveness and i got it, but I woulda liked if there was a way to see Syenna pay for the death she brought.

    • @ShredST

      Not only did Syanna not get any punishment, she also showed no remorse either. You call it a redemption story, but was Syanna really redeemed? Anna pardoned Syanna and asked for HER forgiveness. Syanna did nothing to redeem herself. Logically, the ending in which everyone is happy and good is the most preferable, but I find myself wanting justice to be delivered, and I don't know how to justify it.

    21:40 I actually got my ass kicked by those 2 punks in that fist fight as a 50 level witcher... It was clearly the most embarrasing moment of my whole gameplay (especially after Regis' words before the fight starts) :(

    Felt bad killing Detlaff, but not for him - for Regis. Obviously Regis knew it had to be done at that point - Even if you ignore the 4 murders which could be argued as just, he then waged war on an innocent city, tried to kill Syanna, and snapped in rage and attacked Geralt and his friend Regis - As Regis said, Detlaff acts more on instinct. I suspect Regis wished these events happened later, after he had been able to make more progress with Detlaff, but at this point things were spiraling further and further out of control. Regis knew there was only one way to stop it. He was a homie, and I just wish we could have given him a happier ending.

    Whoops, I accidentally got the ending where both sisters died and my husband got the one where they both reconciled (he was shocked to see Syanna stab her sister in the neck with her hairpin!) I honestly wished I'd gotten the third ending, I feel it was the most interesting one of them all - it's not a truly happy or sad ending and just a bit bittersweet and solemn, feels more true to the story for me.
    Shoutout to the best side quests in Blood and Wine though - Equine Phantoms and La Cage au Fou/The Hunger Game.

    I really wanted to see the elder vampire and I don't regret it . Good character and I got the red vampire set aswell ( used it in the last fight against Dettlaff was the only way to kill him since I had grandmaster feline armor ) . Now that I think of it, having both of the sisters die after seeing all endings seems the best ending to me . Both paid for their sins and I'm just a witcher doing a contract . I wished I could have saved Dettlaff though - I liked the character and the naive nature of him , only to be used and betrayed by the one he loved.

    It's funny how bitter sweet every ending is and you can't finish without hurting someone else. To get the both sister live, you need the biggest effort and all puzzles set, on my first run I saved both of them, Regis had to flee to Nilfgaard. On my second playthrough, I wanted to see the Unseen Elder and his lair, and the red heavy armor (although I thought it's the best in game, actually the lower level Toussaint knight set is better). From the whole final main quest, I liked the scenes with orphanage the most, and the chilling soundtrack.

    Actually got the very good ending first try, I brought the ribbon because my intention was to get the sex scene lol. Then I just did the optional quests after killing deitlaff so I can play the game a bit longer. And I somehow got the best ending.
    Also got the best ending for main story and blood and wine first try. I’m very happy with my run.

    So what ending do you get when Detlaff kills Syanna and you kill Detlaff? How does Anna respond then?

    I got the very bad ending. but I think it is the most fitting ... syanna is just a bad person who thinks her own suffering is worth taking so many lives , even risking the revenge of a vampire, and Anna was blind to see who her sister was even after getting told and having proof . the way both die is the only true ending for these 2 characters . there is not always a happy end.

    For me the last ending in se ''good'' ending, Dettlaff was innocent and manipulated, the bitch got what she deserved and Dettlaff got away, to bad Ana didn't want to see the truth, but truth is not always pleasant.. its still the only FAIR ending. :)

      The only difference is that Regis kills Detlaff and is chased out of Toussaint by vampires during the bit when you're drinking

    I felt like i did the right thing by ending up in prison tbh, whether or not something's a bad or good ending is subjective in this expansion, i think
    Better that Syanna dies than Detlaff, i feel. regardless how sad the duchess might feel about it.
