Portia may love Penelope but she is clearly her least favorite child in the family. She always thinks of her as an afterthought and never once helped her find a suitable match for herself unlike with her other girls. Before Lord Debling came along, all Portia saw in Pen was another mere servant bound to take care of her for the rest of their lives. She has never thought highly of Penelope and is actually considered emotionally abusive to her in a way. I really hope Colin knocks her down a peg like in the books.
This is just my own personal opinion- Poor Portia every time she turns around something goes wrong for her family. During this era it was very hard to be a woman and now widowed and with cousin Jack finally gone and her lying about where the money came from, can we blame her for pushing her two other daughters to make haste and have a baby - preferably a boy! What a sad 😞 time that as a female your worth wasn’t seen! You had to be devious, cunning and intelligent only within the shadows! So let’s take a moment then and not blame Penelope for being Lady Whistledown she is only trying to survive too! Part 2 cannot come fast enough! June 13th you are killing me 😅YOU MUST MAKE HASTE 😊😊
