I really appreciate the explanation of flavors. Not just yum this is good, but what is good about it. Explaining oyster sauce, which I love, etc. so many food Chanels just say oh, this is really good. That doesn’t tell us anything. Great job you guys!

That area in Aiea has so many good spots. Queen St. Cafe, Sushi Spot, BB.Q, Aiea Bowl, Hughley's, El Mariachi II, M&M, Aiea Manapua, Tea Cafe, and all of the Vietnamese restaurants.

Lived on Oahu all during 90s and worked Sand Island area. Miss my daily plate at Rainbow. Also was a Korean breakfast joint near a dive bar ( Pohakus sports bar ? ) that had a two eggs spam or bacon rice and kimchi breakfast special for 2.99.
Aloha, Amanda & Felix...Love the continuation of the cheap eats spots! A few came to mind like Mikis in Pearl City. I remember you did that one recently. There is another place that gives
pretty hefty portions called GARDEN ISLE CAFE in Waipahu near Leeward Drive in. Small hole in the wall, I could not even close the lid on the Katsu plate LOL! As for Aiea Manapua I tried that greasy eggplant bomb that Amanda had months ago. With all respect I had to bury that one. As for Marks, the Chicken Katsu BBQ/Chicken is a deal. Been there and will re-visit again when I get the urge for the Chicken Katsu. I hope we get a live stream before you go to LONDON. Mahalo Plenty!

I hit the Like button from the first K & K breakfast plate! Just hearing the old Mitsuken location was a plus in my mind! I guess those prices are cheap eats now, (especially compared to places like Zippyʻs) but everything was Local Kine Grindz Iʻd definitely like to get! Mahalo for sharing these "Hidden Spots."

Yes, Aiea Manapua is awesome! But the eggplant pork hash is SUPER oily! That and the stuffed mushroom that is made the same way. Dabbing it first was a good idea. We used to like the pizza manapua for LL baseball pot luck.

yeah...love the plate lunches and desserts, but if i ate it often would not be fit like you folks! been to lot of the places on your channel but still go to Rainbow the most, just used to I guess!!
Love your channel. Thank you. I just have to give you a hack...as a person with acid reflux...I have to stay very well hydrated with pure water. Then to top it off, I take a bit of apple cider vinegar at least once a day. It works so well for me.
Awww thank you! I already incorporate apple cider vinegar daily 🙌🏼 it’s been about 4 years! I did realize loosing weight helped my acid reflux too🥲.

Love cheap eats. You guys should also try En Fuego in Kapolei, they have bomb garlic chicken and also do okazuya now. Also try K’s Bento YA in Waipahu. Long time hole in the wall bento spot, their garlic chicken is bomb but go early it’s best when fresh.

Where are those Aiea places? I used to live there. I worked at the library in high school in early '80s, there was a manapua/shave ice place across from it.
M&m and aiea manapua are down the street from the bowling alley, in the aoea town square 👍
This episode reminds me of the Best Value Plate Lunch back in 1999. Fat Boy's Original location off Nimitz Hwy, by the McDonald's near the Sand Island access Rd. I googled the location, 2020 Republican St. Connected to the Korean liquor store fronting Nimitz. $5 Garlic Chicken Plate, 2 scoops rice, 1 scoop Mac. Choke Garlic Chicken they had to tape the Styrofoam clam shell shut. And the hot garlic chicken burned thru the top of the container! Another tasty cheap value was the BBQ Chicken plate at Queens in Kaka'ako. Was still $4.95 when I left Home for cheaper living on the Mainland in the 2000's. I live in Oregon now and cannot understand why Plate Lunch prices are at or more expensive than they are back Home!
