Wow Misty!! So much good food! I don't know where to start but I think you saves the best for last because that Lau Lau looks huge and delicious! And I'm def stopping by Ray's to get that Pork Cutlet and tne Garden Isle looks like a Chinese place local style with their big portions. Mahalo for showing all these good foods for a good price!! Yes all plates were ono! Thanks for the compliment on the thumbnails. The old program I used annoyed me so I just gave in a bought Photoshop 🤣 I'll try to do more drone shots but I'm so lazy I don't even charge mine! I really wanted to take it with me this summer but where I'm going they won't let you on with a drone ☹️

I am looking forward to a trip to Waipahu for the food, and to visit the neighborhood again - miss the old time feeling when the sugar mill was operating and when Arakawas, where I got my hibachis, was still in business. Yay! You're welcome! And if you call it in and go around 130-2pm usually there's parking by the meters a short walk away. I just put a nickel in and pick up my food quickly.

Actually every time I go get parking. Just got to walk a very short ways. I park by the old Salvation Army near Zippys near the meters around 2pm and always empty.

Yup, I was thinking when Chimere would be raising prices at Scoopers... they cannot survive with that low a cost on their plates. Love their toss salad with her homemade dressings (I like her French). The laulau they make is healthy but they don;t put any butterfish... it is all pork.
According to several close friends/relatives in the food industry, price of butterfish aka lingcod/sablefish is cost-prohibitive. No feasible profit margin
Surprisingly there was a small piece of butterfish in mine. Even if there wasn't I wouldn't complain due to her prices.

I am blessed with a great day job and with YT I can afford to pay for the meals and hopefully help these restaurants. Wish I saw this earlier! I went to Shiro's for the laulau plate. Looks almost the same except just kalua pork, not with cabbage. Portions look the same, too. BUT.....theirs is $17.95, and no brownie, haupia, or drink! Next time!

Do like me a good hawaii plate lunch I'm going to miss it, I've decided mt trip to Hawaii back last month was my last time.I now plan to buy a motorhome in the next 3-4 years and life off grid.

I understand. Once you've been here a couple of times I think it gets boring. You should definitely do the outer islands though one day. My dream is to buy an RV (silly American name for motor home) and travel the country. Especially National Parks. Hope you're doing well and your future plans are exciting!

I never went to Kalihi when I lived there. My loss.
It's ok. It has its reputation and not the best place to be around due to the crime, but has the best food spots on the island.
:) WOW and OMG! LOVED IT! ans my choice would be Rays Pork Cutlet for at least 2 meals! I know I am watching this later, BUT your bargain eats are REALLY GREAT! Hard to find in PNWEst / Seattle area, all too expensive about $15 now :( Subscribed for more of your GREAT Shares! ALL the BEST and Cheers! ENJOY for me and hope to get to visit again :)
