Her influence was so important on that show, that it could never be measured. I adore her.

How does she end up next to last, while one off characters like a 13 year old kid with no lines is featured further up the line or a security officer that lasted half an episode. And surely they could have found a far better stand alone picture of her from the series (like other characters) than the still they used. She has more class than that.

I would watch each episode every week with my father. We adored this show. Later on in life as a gift to myself i bought the 3 years set of Star Trek. Back then, Uhura the communications officer made it into a lot of my dreams. I would have loved to communicate ... beam me up Scotty !!!

I used to go to a black-owned small restaurant-called Snooks-where I live and they played the music by Nat King Cole and Motown music as well. I told the owners about Nichelle's singing with Leonard's chr. Spock on "Star Trek" and hoped they could play her music. I wanted to go back to eat some chicken and waffles, but got COVID in 2020-before I could get a vaccination shot-and Snooks closed. Damn. I wish I could've met her and George too. I met Jimmy, De, Leonard, Bill, Walter, Mark Lenard, Michael Forrest, Majel Barrett Roddenberry, and Robin Curtis at various conventions over the years.
She was not enthusiastic about remaining on the show after a time, wanting to go on to bigger things. But in a meeting with Martin Luther King jr. he encouraged her to stay on Star Trek. Noting that she was breaking stereotypes as a person of color in a professional and important position in her role on Star Trek.

The actress Barbara Luna is actually played in 2 episodes of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century in 1981 as Corey. Who's actually half human half bird woman (hawk). Her husband Hawk and Buck Rogers were trying to fight to the death. Until Hawk claw landing gear impaled her and she eventually dies with Hawk was actually crying for her.
In addition to playing Nurse Chapel, Majel Barrett also provided the voice of the Enterprise computer, and she married Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.
She was Number 1 in the pilot episode with Pike as the Captain. Only Spock from the characters came back with Kirk, and Barrett played the nurse. She also went on to play Lawxana Troi on The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.

As for Nichelle Nichols, what can you say? She played her role well, was lovely, and she helped to break down barriers for other black actors and actresses. I thought she was gorgeous then, and she's aged most gracefully. I've loved all the various Trek series, some more than others, but TOS started it all and it's stayed with me all these years, helping me become a writer of sci-fi and fantasy. Long live Star Trek!

A lot of these you show are just one-episode guest star actors. One you left out though is Roger Carmel, who played Harry Mudd in TWO episodes.
At 7:20 that actress died in 2022 I think there is a video of the main cast and her picture dissappeared when 2022 appeared
