The real tragedy of Epicurus is that the vast majority of his works have been lost to us over time. All that remains are like the crusts from a loaf of bread. Still even these crusts are delicious. Love me some Epicurus. Great work Amy!
Thanks for introducing me to Epicureanism. I'm loving it! Notes: 1. Friends and lovers 2. Food for fulfilling hunger 3. Be wary of politics 4. Appreciate the smaller things in life
I'm taking both stoicism and Epicurianism and so far I feel like the Epicurian way feels easier tho I still enjoy stoiscm. If I'm living a good day and great life and feel like I'm at peace with myself I'd be Epicurian all the way. If I'm in hardship and feel like there's extreme obstacles and evils that I don't feel that I'll overcome and need something to strengthen my inner beast, I switch to stoicism. Excellent video.
Love this, I feel like many people over look epicueranism and its capabilities, but people like you are popularizing it! Hopefully now people will understand the power of pleasure and happiness!
Value yourself >friends> lovers. It hard to find friends who grow wiser with age. Your friends in college may no longer be sharing your value system in your middle age. Friends should be a function of philosophy
Thanks for the video, It helped me a bit with learning about epicureanism. But dude.. I don't know if you did it on purpose or not, but that track at the end comes from the 6h series of albums "Everywhere at the end of time" and it gives me so much anxiety hearing that, because it sorta reminds me how it feels like to die without memories.
Lol it was somewhat purposeful, but I used the original song, Al Bowlly's Heartaches. I'm thinking about changing the end screen so I'll definitely keep it in mind.
One comment I had is that point #3: removing yourself from the political life, is probably not viable for everyone since depending on the person's identity (skin colour, religion, sexual orientation, etc) and their location, there may be at constant threat of physical harm and so they need to involve themselves in politics not only for immediate protection (surround themselves with people who they know don't want to hurt them) but also to try and create a safe environment for others like them in the future.

Thanks man, here's hoping that epicureanism becomes more popular!
Especially relative to the resurgence of stoicism

Valuing Friends over Lovers ... yeah, that hits different after getting divorced and realizing I have no friends anymore ...

FireAlpaca for the drawings and imovie to put it all together. FireAlpaca is free and imovie is free on mac.
Epicureanism is simply the most perfect philosophy in the history of mankind and will continue to be through the centuries.
Excluding their physics
The music from the outro gives me ptsd about something i forgot.

This the last person in the world to be teaching anything, especially something as important as philosophy!
