@@nicolassosolic3760 Exactly. These Motley Crue Fans are all Morons Sorry lol. Junkies and Nazis. Mick Mars is 1 of the 1000 Best Guitarists of all Time.
Dude that was amazing.. Mick is amazing the way he constructed his melodies amd solos.. my God.. he used the whole neck to his own desire. I'm speechless. What a fucking legend. He is the Motley Crue sound and without him they would not have that heavy crunched raunchy rock.. Bob Deal was a struggling musician who had faith in his talents, he pushed his way into a band that he saw had potential, he took the gamble and he was right. The fact that he was older than the rest meant that he brought along his experience from jamming with others and building up his skills. He didn't care that he was older and didn't care about their partying, he never pushed his disparagement on their lifestyles.. He saw that they all wanted to live the Rock n Roll life. Mick was my childhood influence to pickup a guitar and the Crue was my soundtrack. Long live the Legend of Mick Mars.
Mick can't solo ?? lets put it this way you could post a video of "you" doing a solo ! and nobody will ever give a damn . Mick mas moved millions of fans , with his playing .
Mick Mars by far one of the most underrated guitarists ever is my opinion! I hope some day he gets the credit that is long over due! My opinion also is that Home Sweet Home guitar solo is one of the best, melodic and memorable rock guitar solos EVER.......hands down!
Mick Mars is the whole and entire reason I decided to stop standing in front of the mirror with the stereo blaring behind me and sit down and actually learn to play guitar. I went in the woodshed and didn't come out until I had learned Motley Crue's first two albums as best I could. My guitar style reflects Mick's style in alot of ways. I ended up in the hair metal scene and found success in the 80's and then got caught up in the thrash metal scene. Because of all the Motley Crue songs I started out with I was able to play just about anything I heard. Thanks Mick for all the badass riffs and licks. The guitarist from the 80's and beyond. Timeless.
Jon Villalobos Pretty cool man. When you said you found success.. what band were you in? I know of alot of bands from the old days but not alot of members.
I was in a band called Osiris. There was a side project without a name that my entire band did without me because at the time all of them were finishing up their senior year in highschool. I finished earlier than they did at another highschool. I was kind of a bad boy ya know. State of California has alternate schools for screw ups. Lol! Because of that I had alot of free time to practice guitar. Alt school was only 4 hours a day. There were other side projects we did in the flavor. I was half punk and half glam. I played and dressed alot like Tracii Gunns. UBS Unwanted By Society and Misguided Children. Good times. We were coming up around band like Warrant, Bullet boys, etc. I knew most of the members of of Jailhouse. I can't remember his name at all right now, but their guitarists went on to play for another band in the late 90's that had a hit with Blue Monday cover. I think his first name is Amir. That's about it really. We had a huge local following in San Diego. I think it's because we did alot of covers of Cure songs and our front man was a frail little cutie pie like Kurt Cobain was in the 90's who I also love as much as my singer Dave.
Jon Villalobos Sound vaguely familiar. I know when I was really heavy into metal around that time I was into alot of bands nobody had heard of like 999..Exploited...Viper (who Oz Fox of Stryper was in before joining them. I think it was a NYC band)..bands like that. I would scope out up and coming bands in magazines then try to find their tape in stores. I found alot of good bands that were just starting out that way. Sepultura Biohazard (Their first CD Retribution is killer!) Mushroomhead bands like that.
I remember now! Amir Derkha and I'm sure the spelling is waaaay off. Lol! He was a founding member of Orgy. They had some cool tunes. I was a federal police officer posted at White Sands Missile Range here in New Mexico at the time and there was no rock radio station and I was always on some tactical mission dug in deep and covered in Bdu's and tactical gear with the latest in badass weapons so MTV was missed from late 96 to Late 2000. Four year hitch. Did some crazy shit in those days and I suffer for it now. I did however get the occasional Metal mags and guitar world when I was not on Spec Ops missions and would hear the popular bands from enlisted soldiers and airmen here and there. In San Diego as a kid we had a pirate record store and I used to pick cassettes out and discover new bands on the rise like Motley Crue and MetallicA. You got to do the same thing in a way. That's cool!
Jon Villalobos Hell yea. Pretty cool man. I was military myself. 29th ID 116th Stonewall Brigade. Same units that fought in DDay. Very proud of that :) 429th BSB Richmond Va
Home Sweet Home Guitar Solo. One of the BEST Guitar Solo's ever written in my opinion. Mick Mars is a bad ass no matter how you look at it. Just starting guitar at 47, would love to have a guitar lesson from Mick. LOL
Michael Norman - I totally agree with you about the Home Sweet Home solo being one of the greatest rock solos ever written and recorded. Not only does it sound incredible, but it fits the song absolutely PERFECTLY. Mick doesn't get enough credit because he came from the shredder era...but that wasn't Mick's thing. Mick Mars' played to serve the song. People forget that all of the 'music' that you hear in a Motley song is coming from Mick. It is Mick and a rhythm section. He doesn't have a rhythm player to holding everything together when he plays a solo. So not only did he have to come up with great solos..but he had to keep the music 'thick', for the lack of a better term. I have played guitar since I was 12 and I am now 36...and I have a great deal of respect for Mr. Mars! .. Rock on brother. It is never too late to pick up a guitar!!!
not only that. Don't forget that the guy has some for of arthritis or something that kind of keeps is fingers together. Imagine if he didn't have this disease!
Love Motley Crue. I live in Melbourne Australia and I got to every tour the Crue took down here from 1990 right up to their final tour in 2015. Mick is a great guitarist, always loved what he does.
Mick has always been so very underrated as a guitarist. The guy should be considered in the same sentences as Page, Hendrix, EVH and so many more. His playing made Motley sound like they had 3 guitars going all the time. Just an awesome guitarist.
Great demo Mick. I've learned a little bit of your stuff through the years. I wish I knew all of it. After this exhibition I'm going to have to learn some more. You're a legend Mick. Rock on brother!
Mick Mars the most under rated guitarist in the fucking world !! He is one of the best . Top of the elite guitar slingers and Deserves more credit . What a GREAT. A legend !!
Great playing dude. Mick used to say that he's pickups were not and did not drive the amps a whole lot. He also is one guy that is tight lipped about his sound. He always used 2-3-4 amps simultaneously to get that sound. I remember seeing Marshalls, lots of Soldanos and i forget what else. In the mid 90's he also used Orange heads all running through a Soldano cab (not sure about what speakers where in them). He did have that 68-69 Marshall that Richard Fortus from GnR ended up buying not long ago.
Dude. Great video. I really dig your take on the Home Sweet Home solo. Great job bro! Keep on rocking! Greetings from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, bro.

MC made me want to play guitar, bass, drums and sing! Looks that Kill is sick still!!! Love the aggressiveness! SAD is mad too, Wildside, Dancing on Glass, etc, etc
Awesome playing. You really nail the tone and rhythm of Mick. Mick is overshadowed by how gigantic the Crue were in terms of stage shows and image. The irony is his riffs were really pretty basic yet he had such a style to delivery they sounded so hard; kind of like Angus Young
Absolutely love the chugging sound of this fat, crunchy rhythm! Hear it best on S.O.S - DR. F, an on. Outstanding tone. I could listen 100x in-a-row. Best ending ever on a video like this also. B Hall

No, Mick is plenty rated, he's just under mentioned, just like Criss Oliva, they're always highly regarded, but not brought up enough.
