In high school, Australia, early 80s, about yr9 or 10. We had to also cover our notebooks. One friend, with whom couldn’t be bothered with school, got hold of certain adult magazines and removed the centrepiece from each one. He then proceeded to cover his books and folders with these pages. The male teachers would just give a hasty grin and say nothing while certain female teachers would berate him then send him off to the principal. After several principal visits, a compromise was reached where he would remove the ‘offending’ material, but would also not be subjected to the request of covering his books. Those centre pages adorned many an inside locker door until the school implemented a locker search policy when a student was found with cannabis and smoking on school grounds.
I volunteered for a charity’s administration team. I discovered that that charity took 15% for administration. This broad stroke of a statement line, covered everything from wages of executives to the pen that was supplied. This amount seemed fairly standard, though some charities would take up to 40%, the least amount taken was just 2%. It seemed the bigger the charity’s name the higher the percentage taken. Another organisation which supplied Christmas gifts for less fortunate children, would stockpile gifts for several years before they were distributed. One year I was involved in the distribution process, and literally there were gifts that had been discontinued for several years and even toys that were now classified as collectables. One family, took many gifts, they had 7 children under the age of 16, then proceeded to sell those toys as collectables in original packaging for high dollars. I bought this to the corp. leaders, their response, not our issue what they do with things after they take them. This family was notorious for claiming everything they could including weekly food hampers, bill payments, fuel, etc.. So today, I no longer support any charity that cannot show me a cost analysis and prove that the work they are doing is beneficial. Especially that certain religious group that does an annual door knock appeal.
I’m disappointed not to see the “a trip around the world in 80 minutes” story here. Definitely one of the best malicious compliance stories I’ve heard from this channel.
Question : I used to draw pictures of Lockheed P-38 Lightning aircraft in my notebooks back when I was in elementary and junior high school. I would draw them like they were firing their guns at another aircraft. Now, here is the question : If a kid did that at school today, what would happen to the kid ?
In high school, we had an English teacher who was a former priest. He was very quiet, but very meticulous. My older brothers all had been in his class, and let me know the score: No one ever got an "A" (superior work) in his class. He felt that everyone could improve, and therefor, could never get perfect scores. In one assignment, we had three class hours to write a three page essay on "How to (do something). On the third day, I finally got an idea: How to Waste Time. Included in my essay was a description of the International Association of Time Wasters. (Not to be confused with The Order of Procrastinators.) I wrote the essay, then re-wrote it for neatness and spelling. Turned it in in the nick of time. When I got the paper back, it was graded "A-". with a note along the lines of: "Very creative use of your time."
Every charitable foundation has a specific percentage of funds that go to paying the workers and other costs to run a charity and a percentage that actually goes to the cause. Every charity must publicize those percentages. Always research a charity’s percentage breakdown before donating. You’d be surprised how many charities keep more than 70% of all incoming funds.
The main building I worked in during graduate school had a ground floor, then a 1st floor above that, and so on. However, the building was connected to other buildings which sometimes shared that ground, 1st, 2nd... convention while others started at the 1st, and then went up! It wasn't the worst thing in the world, but it made finding classes early in the morning a pain!
She wanted to be independent from being walked down the isle, but not from using daddy's money for the lavish wedding, something doesn't add up in that scenario. Aside from my views around traditions, that seems a bit convenient to me, a bit of cognitive dissonance going on there.
When HOA's first appeared in my area around 1990 I instantly knew they were bad news. Basically the builder maintains control of the "HOA" until 90% of the properties were sold. AKA it was a scheme to maintain the builders investment. BUT I also saw the long-term disadvantages and abuses. Have never and will never buy a house in an HOA.

I used to, if I didn't particularly like a snarky customer, check the $100 bill in the light, pen it, and then pay in quarters. I start with the loose ones in my drawer. Or if they pay in coins and, again, didn't care for their attitude, count them one by one

Great country. Good food. Strict etiquette rules. Social interaction and the rules around it can also be tough to navigate for non natives. My advice: learn the spoken language at bare minimum before visiting for any longer than a week. It makes everything much easier for both the visitor and the host.
Speaking on dress code. I was told tails where not allowed at school. Accusing me of being in a gang. So what does a new furry cosplayer do. She goes over the dress code and makes Homestuck horns the large ones that are in total compliance. I did a new set each day. I even made a set in class for a home ec project. Don't mess with a cosplayer and the dress code. Note I'm in the bible belt the strict part of it.
I loved when we were assigned to cover our school books with paper sacks back in the 1970s. We could write or draw anything on those covers, and the covers were easy to replace once they got filled up, front and back. We students had a lot more freedom back then.

🐻❄️🍭🤣 I'm guessing part of the reason you got an A- on that assignment, was for writing something incredibly original. Good job!

Once I heard the teacher demand "Solid Evidence" that the dog ate OP's homework, I knew we were in for an absolutely hysterical story!
