    My Pentium 2 400Mjz had a thermal pad instead of paste.

    I love my Slot 1 P3 450MHz machine, it's a first generation Katmai that used to be a video editing rig with a video editing accelerator card. Swapped out a couple of cards for a good audio card and accurate for the time GPU and it's a really fun little retro build.

      @@Kman_aus It's such a neat era in personal computing history. The crossover from DOS to Windows and the breadth of software that was in use and games that were available.

    wow what a project, we threw away our old pcs..

      Yeah I’ve kept more old motherboards than full cases. This was actually my mum’s 90s motherboard with a case I got over 10 years ago and later combined. I think because PCs never left, they just got faster, we never saw as much of a need to keep them
