Yamaha is really cutting-edge in design, engineering, and build quality with the new Aventage receivers! I have an older Yamaha AV receiver and will almost certainly replace it with either an RX-A4A or 6A. Very impressive presentation!
You dont even mention the remote. I went to get a Pioneer Elite and saw it's remote and asked, 'Okay, well what else do you have comparable?" The Aventage remote looked high end. It wasnt until I got home and used the Yamaha remote that I realized it is backlit. The remote is substantial and backlit! Huge win. I only wish I had more reasons to use the AVR remote.
Great video; that A8A is a beast! Current 5200 owner…Getting an A4A next…best bang for buck in the AVR world. Been a loyal customer for 10 years due to the solid engineering
I decided to buy the A6A based on a few important factors. since I don't change a receiver every 5 years. The build quality was a huge factor. the large power supply. the XLR inputs and outputs (which you only see on high end receivers) plus even though it has 9 channels plus two separate subwoofer outputs, and 11 channel processing with a separate amp for the 2 mains. and the total weight of the unit. were all important to me. I'm upgrading from a 1997 Onkyo TX-DS838. so for me? this is a huge step up. this is a better unit than the Denon x6700. and better than Marants Cinema 40. well worth the money. the only thing I wish they had added was additional cooling fans.
Great walk through and explanation. The A8A is out of my economic and priority realities. I did however just acquired an A4A to replace my old RXV871.. The A4A will allow the coming 8K games to be played on the PS5 attached and the theatre experience through the Apple TV has really improved with AV receiver Thanks for being so clear in your delivery
I very much appreciate the love and dedication the engineers have put into this machine, and that they where allowed by Yamaha management to bring it to consumers. However, it would be nice that there is more communication on when new formats wil be supported, as format support is as important than good sound.
The Main Reason I'm Wanting To Upgrade To Yamaha's Aventage RX-A4A From My RX-385 Is Because I Purchased a 2022 Hisense U8H Ultra High-Def T.V. That Supports eARC HDMI Which My RX-V385 Only Supports ARC
Thank you Yamaha, love in depth product videos like this! I have. A question regarding the FPGA system in this new Advantage generation. Say the new HDMI 2.1A specification has been finalized, can Yamaha roll this out into this receiver via firmware update? If so will Yamaha charge for it? Also say Yamaha develops a new YPAO calibration system, can this receiver be updated to this new version? Or let's say Yamaha signs a deal with Dirac. Is this platform with it's Qualcomm SOC and FPGA setup capable of running Dirac with a future firmware update? I'd be willing to buy these "add-ons" down the line rather than having to purchase a whole new receiver. I'm hoping the answers to my questions are yes.
In the market for a new receiver to replace my 20 yr old Yamaha RXV3200. Would definitely get Yamaha if you offered Direc with it. But will probably go a different direction since you don't. Also hate the little display.
Our previous AVR was a RX-V3000, but decided it was time to upgrade as no one streams sound format codecs my receiver can decode, so most movies sound more like an old Dolby Pro Logic soundtrack. I picked up the Aventage RX-A4A as it seemed to have most of the features we wanted, at a price point that fits our budget. I haven't had time to use the YPAO to dial in the speakers yet, but so far, it sounds fantastic. My only complaints are: 1. No direct Source buttons on the remote. 2. The unit's front display is WAY too small (though it's nice the font size increases substantially when you use the remote)! I miss the big, legible orange display of my RX-V3000 3. Lack of front panel inputs like RCA or HDMI 4. Plastic front? Really?? What is the reasoning, other than cost? Seems very tacky compared to the competition unless there was a reasonable TECHNICAL reason.
What are you comparing the front panel to? I prefer the A4a to the front panel of comparable Marantz, Onkyo, Denon, Integra, Pioneer, and Sony. The only receivers that have 'better' pannels are Arcam, Anthem and maybe NAD. If I were getting the A6A or A8A and then comparing to the Cinema 40 or other flagship models, yes, I would be disappointed... I think. I dont think I ever use the front panel. I just look at the on-screen display. Why do you care if the front is plastic? I dont get that sentiment. If this thing needed to be road ruggeed, I might would agree. My car is mostly plastic body, with a metal frame, and it wasnt cheap. What is the use of Direct Source?
This is what I'm really waiting on, I want to know for sure that it definitely works since this is something I would be keeping for a bout 10 years before replacing.
Just get the Denon box hdmi 2.1hdmi cuz I bet you any money that's what Yamahas going to do if I spend too much money to ship your receiver in in to ship it back nevermind put the board in it Denon wants $600 to upgrade it

With a serious phono preamp for both MM and MC cartridges included... Also with HDCD decoder, SACD stereo, and multichannel playback - because audiophiles don't abandon their disc collection... Streaming capability capable of reproducing highest quality audio files from Tidal (Master)... And regarding video processing power - when will we get a trully performant video section, one capable of upsampling DVD video to 4 or even 8K resolution? Personally, I want a 'monster' capable of playing every audio and video file to a maximum level of quality with the help of nowadays top-of-the-line technology. I want an AV processor that will be the best out of the box, one that you will not need to send to other companies specialized in audio that do tuning. Also, to my opinion, It is completely useless to add more channels just for some questionable sound effects if the audio quality is not getting significantly better!
The guy seems like a really nice guy but Yamaha has to get somebody that can speak to the people so they can understand a lot better nobody cares about the chassis it's not a 57 Chevy but we do care about the sound and all the functionalities you guys need somebody like sound United has
Yeah, it clearly explains what exactly you are paying for, it’s a factual documentary. Sound is subjective, meaning, no one can tell you what sounds good or not, that’s for one to decide.
What ever you say, what ever you do it doesn't matter... It's horribly UGLY ! What you need is a much bigger LCD screen with a clean-cut design. * Check out the previous RX-A80 series for reference.

Jesus, what a snooze fest.
small screen scrap yamaha
The guy seems like a really nice guy but Yamaha has to get somebody that can speak to the people so they can understand a lot better nobody cares about the chassis it's not a 57 Chevy but we do care about the sound and all the functionalities you guys need somebody like sound United has
Don't know what your on about but this was super informative...call me boring but I enjoyed it.
Bigger screen... Yes.! Oled would be nice. 👍 Ugly.. Hmmm🤔
Personally I don't really care that much for having a screen, so a small one is fine with me.
Ok that's fine with me 😜
