I've always thought 1066 Iberia was one of the best representations of peak Crusader Kings gameplay - you have feuding dynastic kings who can conquer each other through war or murder, it exists as a borderland between two major religions and more powerful nations gating the peninsula off from Europe and Africa, and it's just fractured enough that conquest of the entire region is practically anyone's game. And when the Crusades start, you have a pretty clear shot across the Mediterranean to participate. I definitely see why Alfonso VI was the tutorial character for CK2. Great video!

Weirdest feeling in the world is playing your ancestors in CK3 (my family was descended from the Abbadid dynasty). It's nice to see some more historical info about them, since they're pretty hard to find on the internet. Great video btw!

I started with Dhunnunid and conquered all of Europe. It's comfortable to play with the House of Dhunnunid and the high-development Córdoba is really just nearby for you to take. The game guide ranks Dhunnunid 1066 medium in terms of difficulty, but it's an easy start.

Loving these videos (& timestamps 😂) helps me choose a start when I'm finding it hard to choose, would love a Scandinavia one or eastern Europe in 867. Keep up the great work

😂 yeah the new guides all have time stamps. I working on the older ones. Eastern Europe and Scandinavia are both on the plan.

Thanks for another interesting video RBG - liked!
Disappointed you didn't talk a bit more about Ramon-Berenguer though. Fascinating family; he abducted his wife Almodis from the count of Toulouse (she was married 4 or 5 times), and her children by her various different husbands all had some very interesting sibling relationships. She was murdered by Ramon's eldest son, who was disinherited as a result. Another of Ramon's sons, Berenguer-Ramon, murdered his twin brother Ramon-Berenguer.
Looking forward to your Al-Andalus series - that was the option I voted for, so I'll definitely be following. Keep up the good work!

I agree. He (and his whole family) are very interesting. I could’ve (and might yet) made an entire video just on them, but wanted to keep it a little tighter on time this go around.

Interestingly the 5 jimenese monarchs are also related to the duke of Barcelona through the house of Lara at the start

I love an underdog and as i was an annoying little brother myself i think any Iberian run for me would have to start as Galicia :)

Wow you just completely brushed over Aragon. That’s my favorite Iberian start. If you murder the 3 brothers and their sisters you get everything and have a claim on Navarra. With Aragon you also have dejure claims on Barcelona.

I think the most interesting ruler in 1066 christian Iberia is Uracca. She is usually better in intrigue than her brothers, and she's really fun to play as.

I agree. My focus in this video was on the main realm heads. She WILL 100% make an appearance in another video in the future.

I played as the Sumadids in southern Spain and slowly built my powerbase thanks to excellent diplomacy. And after I while I conquered most of Southern Spain and all the highly developed counties and parts of Northern Morocco. But on 4th Sultan who was excellent at getting prestige (and started out as a 4 year old) managed to invade and severly weaken my main enemy the Dhunnunids and eventually I managed to get a kingdom invasion on the Almoravids who had for ages repressed me and then I moved my capital to Marakech and made my primary title Maghreb. I then converted to Almohadism and became the Mahdi and I full on converted to Berber and created the Almohad Caliphate. I will continue to play this but its my proudest campain as it was in a space of 120 years and I managed to go from weak dying sheikdom to OP Berber, Almohad Caliphate. I now plan to conquer all of North Africa and Sicily and eventually defeat my main enemies the remaining Dhunnunids and the Jimenas of the large castile

Very nice guide for Iberia - the Andalusian rebels are horrid as a Christian ngl but I eventually made it though it.
And good luck on your next let's play!

Nice new Audio and great video as always. A bit of constructive criticism if I may, try turning down the gain on the mic if u haven’t already so your voice doesn’t peak (idk if that’s right in englisch but since I know u can speak German. Übersteuern is the Word im looking for lol) as much and your breath doesn’t stick out. Keep up the good work my man.

    • @RealmBuilderGuy

Thanks. And it's duly noted. With the new mic it's a bit of an issue on Bandicam since they don't have good filters on it. I'll need to turn the gain down even further for sure. I'll probably also switch over to OBS where I have more controls to work with in that regard. There's only so much I could do during editing to mitigate it.

How about a Central European guide? Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Pruthenia, Pomerania etc.
It'd be interesting to hear you tell the history of Arpads & Piasts, also Krzesmir IV.
