I really want this tool, but my ratcheting PVC Cutter I have has been working fine to this day. Cuts 2/0 and 4/0 clean. Untill I need a heavier duty tool like this one your talking about is when I'll have to finally get one. Thanks for sharing.
Your very right in using large cable especially with lower voltages of d.c... As an experienced electrician I have a small bit of advice that might or might not add to your efficiency. Your using super-strand copper. The most flexible smallest strand in the trade. Works great with the exception of due to the small strands its the most prone to fast oxidations/corrosion and in a salt water environment (I'm from n.j.) doesn't hold up well in a surprisingly short period of time, the salt moisture eats it fast. If possible for permanent applications I would use THHN it is flexible but much less so than super-strand and is also meant for wet and hot environments with a copper arrangement called compact conductor. And it's cheaper for the same gage. On both wires highly recommend using a de-ox or The oxidizer to saturate the exposed copper. Comes in a grey and clear non drying wet silicone constancy. Wouldn't recommend the tradition grey it's a mess and stains. You might of known all of this but for anyone that doesn't.
Great job Kyle, I know it's has to be a bit of a challenge to bring a different tool (that's kind of different) each and every week but your "batting a thousand" so far. Keep up the great job.
I have always used a carpenters bolster and hammer to cut welding cable. Lay the cable over a block of metal place the bolster on the place to cut and one good whack with the hammer and the deed is done no fraying just nice clean cut.
And to update, I have my 79 Mustang back so I will be welding up a complete CM tube chassis for it, THANKS for the inspiration to buy back my car so I can DO Work
A $400 plus tool. My favorite when doing commercial service work. Welding ground wire? Wow that's awesome idea depending on pricing. It's is very flexible and it would stop interference better than standard battery relocation wire kits. Other than audio wire I will definitely check that out.
The huge benefit of welding cable is the ampacity rating. All those fine copper strands allow for a higher load or ampacity. We use it for our generator leads 400 amps per cable. Just some food for thought
Been broke as we speak. Buying tools left and right and then I realize, I will use it and when I do, it will pay for itself. I'm getting ready to remove an engine and I was looking into clamp removal tools for hard to reach places and I'm somehow here on a video where a cutter is being used for large thick wires; I don't think I will be cutting battery post wires anytime soon so...
Awesome 《☆》Welding lead cable sounds like a good choice. It's a bit heavy but if You clamp it to the chassis it will add some ridgidity & handle as many amps as You can generate or draw ☻
Happy Cinco de Mayo, Kyle! I figured you might have featured a bottle opener today.😉 J/K, bro. Nice vid of an essential tool for the guys who cut a lot of the big stuff. I hope you have a great weekend!👊
I use them a lot in electrical work and they do work . just be careful not to cut steel and steel embedded wire cause it will nick the jaws and rendering it hard to use or useless .
Don't know if your watching these comments, or if anybody is, but, is there anything like this that can cut barbed wire? For animal rescue. Most of the time there's just not room to get the long handled wired cutters in there, it would be quite the help if there was a ratcheting cutter that could handle it, in that kind of small space.
I have a friend who is a union lineman, IBEW Local 77. One of his favorite stories is about a newbie hire who was fooling around with one of those ratcheting cable cutters. The idiot put his finger in one, on a dare, tightened it up, and then couldn't release it and had to go to the local hospital emergency room to get it removed. Otherwise he was going to lose the finger! LOL!! Frivolity and laughter for years afterwards!! What a stupid bumblefuck!
"Not necessary to have" you got that right. If I'm cutting a single one of those cables I'm using a regular cable cutter and if it's multiple I'm using a Sawzall cause that's demo work. Pointless and expensive producut
Who knew such a mutant looking thing existed? ! If I get that....I will be showing itl to my daughter's boyfriend! Put your tool in the wrong place.... and you could loose it and all! :)
WOW... now that would be good also if you are a doctor. Or in need for certain male 8th-day religious events. Talk about "tool for effect!" oh come on... you know you were thinking it.

An electricians best friend. Really saves your gripping power over time

Your right it's probably not an essential tool, but oh lord when you need it. Thanks for the informative video.

Happy Cinco de Mayo, Kyle! I figured you might have featured a bottle opener today.😉 J/K, bro. Nice vid of an essential tool for the guys who cut a lot of the big stuff. I hope you have a great weekend!👊
Don't need, but really want....My wife doesn't like me watching this channel.
For when you need to cut through a steel cable bike lock with zero effort.
I use them a lot in electrical work and they do work . just be careful not to cut steel and steel embedded wire cause it will nick the jaws and rendering it hard to use or useless .
Ah yes everyone needs this tool for when they are installing their gondola or rigging up cables for their own personal zip lines.
So i should stop using an axe?

Or if the wallets empty ...a block of timber, a carpenters chisel and a good whack with a lump hammer gives a nice clean cut every time.
90's BMW 3 series have battery in trunk.pull a part charges like 6$ for a battery cable,no matter the length. And it's like double ot size fyi
have you tried cutting braided stainless hose with it? thanks
Daniel Norman I was wondering the same thing. Would the edges still be clean? Or would it damage the hose?
Daniel Norman I was wondering the same thing. Would the edges still be clean? Or would it damage the hose?
I have one , also cuts through heater hose like butter :)

What are you using to crimp lugs on that Monster cable ??
It's Friday fool,be cool on yo stool.
is it good for cutting bike shifter cable housing?
where do you guys get your wire from ?
I know some place sell that white wire or something?
Dude... you always need new tools. Even if you don´t know what it function is, you NEED it.
I'm a Powerline Man.......I use these everyday!!!
right on
These are good for cutting off the handles on my Turkey legs...
Check into using the mason chisel and block of aluminum with hammer style of cutting hoses or cables too if you get the chance.
could it also be used for stripping that wire?
It may not work very well for stripping
Did you choose a name for the red dragon , I mean the new truck. lol
