yea exactly this! That is why Kratos should have been immediately suspicious of "Tyr" acting all pathetic and terrified. When you go back and rewatch Mimir/Atreus/Kratos trying to "mentally resuscitate" Tyr, it's so cringy. No one would have to throw Kratos against a wall and say "Are you not a solider?" The last person to ever surrender(on anyone elses terms) would be the God of War.@@Ginfeldi

he acted broken so he could stay with them while not being asked to do anything that would harm his (odin's) interests.

It is kinda funny to think about it, but i think that Kratos is trying to be Tyr kind of God of War. Just because you are God of War, you does not have to be a savage who kill anyone who dares to cross his path.
In his homeland, there were 2 gods of war(at least in the real-world mythology). While Ares represented the "brutal" view of war, people brutally murdering others, deaths of innocents(colatteral damage) etc. Athena was the goddess of military strategy(of course, it was not the only thing she was goddess of, but it was one of them). She was not as "savage" as Ares, she was calculative, she was the "planner" while Ares was the "executioneer".
And through the OG GoW series, we saw Kratos ascend to godhood to replace Ares(the brutal, physical aspect of war), and then him waging war(with him being one man army) against rest Zeus and rest of the pantheon. At the time, he was just like Ares, caused uncountable number of innocent lives lost accross his whole homeland, not to mention their souls effectively destroyed/lost when he killed Hades.

That is not Tyr. There's a reason why people in the comments call him "Tyr". The real Tyr never broke his warrior spirit and is truly wise. The real Tyr after you find him, (after Ragnarok) would ask to be left alone to reflect - he was just disappointed that he couldn't have done anything to help. At the end where he just asks to be left alone and for him to reflect - He just sounded like your one friend who you texted to play a game with, only to reply several hours later saying "ah fuck sorry I was outside."

and when they find the real Tyr after Odin Is killed, throughout pretty much all of the dialogue with the real Tyr, he completely shows how well he has Mastered himself! No need for Kratos to tell him otherwise.

Maybe we can reconcile this by thinking about Atreus' perspective in that scene. With Kratos lifting the temple, he already knew his father was really, really strong. With Týr Atreus has no idea how strong he is, whether he'd even be willing to use his strength. It also could be that Týr looks and acts so pathetic, so Atreus just wanted to make him feel better by acting impressed.

One who's priority is to end wars as swiftly as possible with minimum loss of life, or outright prevent them in the first place.
Think Athena before she went mental trying to save her people and Tyr trying to unite the realms compared to the blind destruction of Ares and pre-norse Kratos; one side causes problems, the other (at least tries) to end them. Which do you think would work better for the realms?
Also, yes, Tyr is simply too good for this world, he's like a hippy you actually understand.
