Another great vid! I just wanted to talk about how we get the ships for these roams. Yes, the ships, modules and implants we use are all made with ~space magic~. We want to bring cool content to our streams and we want to do it on our developer characters so players get to fight against us, earn some CCP killmails and get some (hopefully) desirable frozen corpses. Since we can't play day to day on our dev characters we have no means to earn ISK to buy this gear ourselves and so we spawn it instead. When we fly we always keep the fits to T2 at best (but maybe the occasional faction module too) so we don't drop crazy loot. We make up for our inability to bling our ships by using shiny implants instead because they don't drop if we get podded. This is our way of trying to make ourselves competitive since we're usually going to be badly outnumbered but want to try to put up a good fight all the same. In the end it's only a very small volume of items being spawned in the grand scheme of things and we hope in return that when we do show up in your neighborhood that you enjoy the content and have fun! For my part I really love that we're getting out there and mixing it up with you regularly. We hope you think that's worth it to you! These roams are the highlight of the week for us. CCP Bee in particular is theory crafting days in advance about what comp we'll fly, and come Friday mornings we're always pumped that in a few hours we'll be out PvPing on Twitch and seeing where the filaments take us.
Yes, before I published the video, I had CCP Bee review it. I certainly don't want to create a misleading impression or make it seem like CCP recommends flying with 3b pods into null sec ;-) He also confirmed that CCP players pay for their own trips when traveling privately and only the roams are kinde of space magic sponsoring. Since this is important, I will pin the message directly under the video.
In Dungeons & Dragons, the guy who runs the game is the DM, the Dungeon Master. More generally, it's a GM, Game Master. Look at their corp: Game Masters.
CCP flews into null sec with "Nano Bhaalgorns," each pilot sit in pods worth 3 billion ISK. The choice of Nano Bhaalgorns is quite interesting. Is that a masterful strategy or an suicide run? What are your thoughts?
Your reply to the previous comment, about running all of this by CCP Bee, makes it clear that this is not a serious question. It was a stunt, to make 'content' for you to make a video about. Kind of shitty that the developers spend their time doing things like this, rather than something that more than a small group of people get to enjoy. But hey, you are a member of a special group of players that CCP caters to! As Pandemic Horde, that is.
CCP's tactics are not too bad. However, it becomes challenging once Horde´s fast tackle with scrams joined the field. Horde Space is a huge challenge, they have a highly active standing fleet. I'm not 100% sure, but perhaps this setup with Barghests might have worked a bit better. It could work, but you can hardly fight 100 people with it. Still, respect for those pods... but it's something one shouldn't do in null :-)))))
Bling + implants is actually a preferred method of some well known pilots for roaming hostile Null space. With low numbers, any advantage you can get becomes very much worth it. So yes, while you don't exactly want to feed billions in ships and pods - you also can't quite engage against the blob without a certain advantage in single ship effectiveness. Whether that's something your wallet can handle, is up to each individual personally imo. Also - plenty of blingy ships and pods lost by Null locals too, never underestimate the overconfidence local space can give.
Hi, that's a great video! I can't believe CCP brought bigger ships to Horde space. However, that was a mistake in itself. CCP's plan was to stay at range and kill what they could. But their ships align in 13.35 seconds, and it usually takes 12 seconds to activate the Micro Jump Drive. This gives enough time for a frigate to warp close to them for the scram or for a max skilled combat scanner to probe them down and jump on top of them. Taking bigger ships to the enemy homebase was a mistake, and dropping down a few ship classes to lightweight ships would have been more useful. One of the greatest weaknesses of tachyon beam lasers is that they are weak against smaller ships. Even though the smart bombs can help fight off frigates that go in for the scram at ranges within 7500 meters, the T2 scrambler can work up to 9500 meters out of the Bhaalgorns smartbomb range, shutting off the ship completely. All in all, good battle!
A good number of the Dev's are still active players on their own accounts. The rules are a lot less strict than they were back in the day for Dev's, basically as long as they don't screw over the economy or take on major leadership roles in Alliances they can do what they like. In fact that may well be up for debate with CCP as recently they employed " Mark Resurrectus" the leader of "Turbofeed or Glory" (grats to him) and I believe he will be keeping his CEO roll in there main corp (Holey Roamin' Empire). CCP Swift famously has flown PVP since very early EVE and I have had a few engagements with his non CCP character pretty sure he's even flown in a few Alliance tournaments back in the old days, always brings a fun fight. Also we all live in hope that CCP Bee will restart streaming some day! Thanks for the content Ami!
