Argument for Removing Machine Guns from the National Firearms Act: Title: Bridging the Gap Between Civilian and Military Firearms: Restoring Equal Access to Firearms. Introduction: The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution guarantees the right to bear arms, stating, "A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." When the Second Amendment was written, the founders intended for Americans to have access to the same firearms that the military utilized, fostering a well-regulated militia. Removing machine guns from the National Firearms Act (NFA) would help restore this balance between civilian and military firearms, thus aligning with the original intent of the Second Amendment. Argument: 1. Historical context: The Second Amendment was written during a time when the United States had a standing army, but also relied on citizen-soldiers to form militias. The founders believed that by providing citizens with access to the same firearms as the military, they could create a well-regulated militia to defend against potential threats. Removing machine guns from the NFA would help restore this balance, ensuring that citizens have equal access to firearms as those used by the military. 2. Technology advancements: Since the time of the Second Amendment's writing, firearms technology has advanced significantly. Machine guns, in particular, have become more accessible and affordable, creating a divide between the firearms available to the average citizen and those used by the military. By removing machine guns from the NFA, we can help close this gap and align civilian firearms with those used by the military, as intended by the founders. 3. Equal protection under the law: The NFA currently restricts access to machine guns, creating a disparity between the firearms available to the general public and those used by the military or law enforcement. Removing machine guns from the NFA would ensure that all Americans have equal access to firearms, in line with the Second Amendment's intent. 4. Nothing will change: Citizens who possess machine guns would be subject to the same regulations and background checks as those with other firearms. 5. Enhancing national security: Removing machine guns from the NFA and allowing law-abiding citizens access to these firearms can contribute to a more informed and prepared citizenry. In the event of a national emergency or invasion, a well-regulated militia with access to a diverse range of firearms, including machine guns, would be better equipped to defend the nation. Conclusion: Removing machine guns from the NFA would help restore the balance between civilian and military firearms, aligning with the original intent of the Second Amendment. This change would promote equal access to firearms, enhance national security. By doing so, we can better honor the vision of the founders and preserve the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment.

Removing machine guns from the National Firearms Act (NFA) would help restore this balance between civilian and military firearms, thus aligning with the original intent of the Second Amendment.
Argument:
Conclusion:
Removing machine guns from the NFA would help restore the balance between civilian and military firearms, aligning with the original intent of the Second Amendment. This change would promote equal access to firearms, enhance national security. By doing so, we can better honor the vision of the founders and preserve the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment.

You know what I’m not seeing in these comments? A lot of naive “Donald Trump is gonna fix this! Trump 2024!!” and “silly bible quote here.”
Bravo, kids. You ain’t voting or praying your way out of this nonsense, and YOU CAN’T STOP WHAT’S COMING. All you can do is prepare for it.

The constitution says that the central gov cannot restrict/prohibit guns. that did not apply to the states

We should be more like countries with strong gun laws, like Mexico.

As someone that lived in Hawaii for 15 years restrictive is an understatement. You cannot obtain a gun in Hawaii legal to do so requires a permit from your local sheriff and state. There are no shops that sell them and shares do not issue concealed weapons, permit, or weapons permits to anyone, other than law-enforcement, security, guards, or their buddies
