    The X5 is no different to any of its counterparts, they are all ridiculously complex. As for EVs they say there is less to go wrong since no mechanical parts but the electronics are more complex than mechanical parts so probably they will be even more problematic not to mention most of these EVs will be dumped as they age as no one will be able to fix them at a sensible cost leading to even greater emissions problems due to scrappage of the old cars and constant production of new ones. The governments of the world and eco zealots clearly haven’t thought this through!

    In 2018 I bought a used 2013 X5 with 94k miles. What a nightmare. After a couple of
    Months The passenger door lock actuator broke, front suspension needed parts, rear differential started to leak. After just 8 LONG months I Couldn’t sell it privately and had to trade it in for a 2013 Lexus ES350. I kept that car for 24 months without any problems. Sold it to Carvanna and bought my current 2002 Lexus ES300 from the original owner w 160k miles. Best move ever. Quality of the 02-06 ES’s is unparalleled. it’s super quiet and solid. Everything still works like day one.

    The whole point of EVs is to replace costly mechanical systems with cheap Chinese sourced (including Tesla) electric motors and batteries. Its about spiking corporate profits by up-charging while the OEM saves huge money, by sticking customers with known failure after the warranty period.

    • @JAMESWUERTELE
      @JAMESWUERTELE Год назад +1

      Electric cars have costly mechanical systems. The same systems on a “ice” are less complicated, because the prime mover is the belt driven accessory system. Electric cars have complex cooling systems, heating systems, compressors, pumps, valves, braking systems. All the same, don’t let them fool you into thinking anything is different.

      The main difference is non-union China sourced labor. For example, the new Lotus SUV is 100% made in China. OEMs think they finally finally have a way to fire all Americans and European labor. That is what EVs are for, and why they are being slammed down the throats of a customer base that 500:1 despises them (thats the F150 ICE to EV sales ratio). EVs are not green, they are hyper-polluters, as evidence by fewer GREEN house gases that all green life wants in unlimited amounts to survive.

    With the way cars are built today everything to do with electronics. They should come with a minimum of a 10-year warranty. Not just for the power train but for the entire electrical system and electrical components.

    Interested in the electronics and the 4.0 Biturbo and the reliability of all of it. The AMGGTSE is just coming out so I doubt it has enough history for a review.

    Always buy used, most likely more than ten years of age. Never ever buy brand new. For instance, you can still purchase a 2004 Subaru Outback H6 wagon, because it has the 3 L flat-six engine with 212 horsepower and the four-speed automatic transmission. These vehicles do not have any electrical issues and it is AWD. Thank you very much.

    Did you notice that every vehicle shown has Gloomy Grey or Boring Black interiors with the exception of the Tesla?
    Those outdated, depressing, drab colors became popular in 1990. That was 33 years ago !
    What happened to tan, red, brown, blue, burgundy, cheerful colors ?
    Who wants to drive anything that is so boring and looks like everyone else?
    Our Outback has Ivory interior and our Forester has saddle brown interior with light colored headliner’s.

    Can't vehicle manufacturers offer a back to basics option for the same model without all those fancy bells and whistles? There are still a lot of wise and practical vehicle buyers out there who prefer simplicity. I myself would prefer the simpler option even if it were at the same price but has less headaches.

Your content is good, but it needs to get across to the viewer without annoying distractions. Thanks.

    Mark, some days ago you had a video with a Jeep Renegade(?)...
    Some days ago a saw a Finnish video with such a Jeep from 2011.
    Because of issues this new owner could get it to a very low cost. Now the car is rebuilt to an EV! Cost 40,000 euro, a little less in USD. The new owner, I think electric engineer and hunter wanted a suitable (silent and 4x4) car to drive into the woods with. This car has a range of about 200 km.
    In this case the electric motor is joined to the second gear of the manual transmission. Then with help of a servo motor he can shift to the first gear, and the the car is perfect for driving off road among the trees.
    Then every feature of the car functions normally and the car is registered for normal driving on public roads.
    I think he has designed the most of the rebuild, but he hasn't done the installation.
    The parts are bought from all over Europe, and the batteries were quite new, I think from 2018. I think every part used is second hand that means from different EV.
    If you can build an EV, you should be able to repair one too.
    The question is almost "only" to have a proper diagnostic tool and the electric schemes, or better without them you can't do much or anything.

    • @ECPP
      @ECPP  Год назад

      I agree, fundamentally they are quite simple and I can relate as I have electrical engineering in my past. I think it’s the commercial grade vehicles and programming the interfaces, software etc that create havoc. Anything could and should be possible indeed. That Renegade is a hot mess because that tiger shark engine so a conversion would be good for that type of donor. Have a great weekend and I like where you are going with that conversation

    GDI is definitely beneficial for fuel consumption and power, as GDI engines can run about 1-1.5 points higher numerical compression ratio than port injected engines, due to effects of charge cooling, and end gas effects. reducing knock. Actual benefit is around 5-10%. Manufacturers will bend over backwards to eek out 0.5% improvements in engine efficiency, so GDI offered a big leap forward for SI engine developers. Combined with other technologies like fully variable valve actuation, and variable compression ratio, SI engines approach the thermal efficiency levels of Diesel engines of about 25 years ago (up to 40% now).

    • @JAMESWUERTELE
      @JAMESWUERTELE Год назад

      GDI engines are garbage, (other than Ford, and Toyota) intake valves get all carboned up. GDI engines run piston skirts so short, the pistons start to wear the bores out. Great for 90k and throw away.
