Her point is to not expect perfection and to take a good long look at yourself. You have flaws too.
As she said in the book "society tells us to approach dating like shopping, but in shopping no one ever points out the shopper's flaws"

I actually really loved this book. It was incredibly eye-opening and I feel so blessed to have read it while I am still relatively young. I can now open my mind to all the great guys I would have dropped for the most trivial things. Lori may have changed the course of my life and prevented me from dying alone (so I could do without the attitude from the host)

@@geopat4298 yes, you have some time. I mean, you are young but not that young. A female’s prime ends at age 26 and begins in the early 20s depending on genetics and how fast she generally is developing, though it’s a known fact that men prefer women in their early 20s. Marriage should definitely be on your mind at this stage of your life, time moves quicker by the day. however, it’s good that you read this book sooner rather than later. Imagine the flip side... 38 years old and JUST waking up to reality. The author of the book made this same mistake (unfortunately) and is preventing other girls who still have time on their hands from making the same one. Keep your options open, take the advice of Lori, and try to get married before 35 - if anything. Good luck with your choice.

@@NM-ru2qj you wouldn’t write this much if it was true and some of the best men on this planet like billionaires have wives that they married when they were much older. Even George Clooney who everyone wanted married a woman in her 40’s because much more is important to successful men. This isn’t the 50’s and it’s too late to fear women into marriage so you don’t end up old and alone in a care home. It’s your own fear of never finding a wife that wrote that nonsense that a woman’s prime ends at 26

@@agirl2094 firstly, I’m a heterosexual woman in her early twenties lol. I’ve seen firsthand what happens to women who delay marriage. Older cousins, co workers, acquaintances, female relatives who made the mistake of wasting their twenties away and now have nothing to show for it but a career and some money in the bank. And some don’t even have that, just a couple of kids out of wedlock and NO stable relationship, NO stable career. All of these single women feel like something is missing in their life, unfortunately. Money comes and goes, career is clearly important, but nothing is more important and fulfilling than a relationship, a partner, a ride or die, a SOULMATE. Someone to call your own, someone you can come home to after a depressing day. Fact of the matter is, MOST women crave a relationship, not all want kids but MOST do need a man in their life. Key word, the right man. It’s only human nature, women biologically have the need to be cared for, provided for and loved. Stop lying to yourself. It’s not natural for anybody to be alone but especially for girls. Your example is a rare case, a woman who got lucky and was able to find somebody at that age. Moreover that’s a successful woman who has the money to stay fit and take care of her looks, this doesn’t apply to regular, everyday women like me and you. This generation is lying to women by creating the false narrative that we can have it all, and that we can do what we want and live fearlessly and happily in our youth, and a man will appear with a snap of a finger. Lie. Older women are telling young women not to worry about marriage and leaving these women regretting their past choices and decisions once they get older. It’s messed up. Marriage rates are DECREASING. Men of marriageable value are also decreasing. Women who traded in their youth for career and fun are at a disadvantage. If you know you want to get married, as a woman, you need to look SOONER, rather than later. If you don’t want to be married then this doesn’t apply to you. Options decrease the older you get. Just the mere truth.

Sure, you settle for some guy, and then 10 years down the road wake up and decide you don't love him after all and want something new. And with the law in your favor, you get half my money, custody of any children and probably my home as well. Why would I sign up for that?

In this culture women are taught they deserve the BEST--ie. 9s or 10s. The problem is most guys are not at that level. The 9-10s are usually taken early. You got to lower your sights esp. as you get older.

yeah but who would want to date an old girl that you know had to "lower her expectations" in order to give you a chance. i mean, out of her benevolence she decided to finally give you the honour to date a princess like her...when 5 years ago she wouldnt even respond to hi or look at you. that's lame, why would you want her. she's best staying alone for her entire life, she deserves it after all.

Like they're all 9's or 10's themselves!!!! This current culture of giving a prize to every girl child for even participating is what has led us to this super picky generation of girls.

There are almost no 9s or 10s. Women want a guy making $250,000 a year minimum, 6 foot 4, no kids, early to mid 30s, with washboard abs. Most men who make that kind of money are in their 40s or 50s.
They want the guy who is in the 0.1% of the population 🤣

Men don’t have a time clock. Men can wait to get married, if they want to. Men can pretty much get married at any time. That’s why nobody here is talking about men.

Having standards and wants are different things. As someone that has many divorces in their family, I’m not settling. Also, I genuinely think men just can’t conceptualize how picky they are because they lack at lot of self reflection because they are emotionally stunted. And they aren’t understanding of the opposite sex. But also, I lived in NYC and it’s horrible for women to date and so I’m a little jaded but still.
