My new PC is running Intel 14900KF (yes, I use NVENC for hardware acceleration). But older (still working PC, is a AMD 7900x). So, not a fan boy of ether, but buy whatever makes sense at the time, when I buy.

After watching the whole video I can say that i7 14700K is the sweet spot even if u do mix work as mentioned in the video. Waiting for 15th gen.
I use 12400F with ARC A380 for 1080p gaming, streaming and video editing. I wish to have more FPS but for the price I understand the performance. I have only faced one issue while rendering mild edited videos in Da Vinci, which is now resolved by software update. other than I am happy with my build.

In the analysis, you take only the price of the chips for comparison, and you forget the cost of motherboards and the cooling system and the computer case, all of which should be taken into account when someone decides what is the better choice.
For example, Intel heats up more and needs a higher quality and more expensive cooling system, as well as a larger, better quality and better ventilated computer case, as well as a stronger and more efficient power supply, all of which affect the total amount you have to pay for the purchase.

My 13900k began to fail, so I swapped to 7950x3D but I noticed slower render times in davinci…I don’t wanna go back to intel because the socket is now dead but I don’t want to wait until September for intel…I might just have to go back to intel for faster work

Did you think on getting an Intel Arc gpu to use their quicksync video encoding in tandem with your Amd?
There's the A380 that could do the rendering job cheaply instead of getting back to Intel architecture.

There is a large RUclips Tech Channel focused on creators - www.youtube.com/@theTechNotice
Simply put, if the Creator's focus is on 3D rendering with Blender, VRay, etc. then AMD is the best choice, if the focus is on video and/or photo editing then Intel is the best choice.

absolutely loving the honesty in this video. really well presented.
my problem is that i'm using davinci resolve (v19.01 - studio) and almost exclusively editing B-RAW footage (4k, very low compression rate) but i just can't afford the major upgrade from my current i7 9700k chip to what i probably most need.

So glad I found you just now. I'm planning my new system around Davinci Resolve, but I'm not a power editor - I do mainly straight 4K H.265 editing on the timeline. It looks like the Intel Core i7-4700K (AU$559) will do me just fine, with little or no benefit from the Core i9-14900K (AU$868). Now, should I pocket the $309 difference or... 😉😉 (Subscribed)

Great video. I am a casual video editor, not making money with it, but I am worried about Intel's 13th and 14th gen current issues. Will I be able to edit video footage taken with a phone (h.264) and go pro on AMD platform? or Intel's quick sink makes that much of a difference? I have a new in the box i7-14700k but I'm debating to return it in exchange for a Ryzen 9 7900x.

What if you are using an RTX graphics card along with the AMD CPU? Does that out perform the Intel iGPU?
Normally I would just get the Intel processor but I worry about the current stability issues with the Gen 13 & 14 Intel CPU's. I always thought AMD was 2nd rate to Intel but right now in light of all the Intel stability issues, I wonder if the AMD is better.
I'm looking at a laptop with AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX and RTX 4090. Is this a good choice? I will be using Davinci Resolve.

I have the same setup except with a 3090, and the biggest fault of AMD and what's going to make me go to Intel next is the fact that they still don't have a native h265 codec. It makes video editing unbearable at times, to the point where I couldn't import a multi-day project into premiere yet on my MacBook Pro M3 Max it was instantaneous.
